In the melodramatic political history of Nigeria since the political independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960 to date, Nigerian politicians have come to the political arena in different characters, colours and contours of the human personality, the good, the bad and the ugly.
My favourite politician remains the great iconic founder of modern Yoruba political kingdom, Chief Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory.
Of all the Nigerian politicians, he achieved more for his Yoruba tribe than others of his generation.

Agreed. Don't have much love for politicians in general, but Awolowo was a man of the masses when he was alive.

Like him or hate him, he is Chief Tony Akahon Anenih! Alias Mr Fix it! He has been in the Nigeria murky political water from the early 80s till date. While he been taken the sh1t, those he has fought for, Ogbemudia, Oyegun, Abiola, Obasanjo, Yaradua and jonathan have been taken the glory. Long live the Enforcer!

MKO Abiola. Hope 93 was the model campaign organisation and his politics was not do or die.

I will never forget that as at 1993 every state university in the country had an "Abiola Hostel" donated by Chief MKO Abiola to alleviate the accomodation deficits that was the bane of state owned campuses back then.

Colourful and peaceful campaigning and the elections were free and fair.

If his peers from the East and North emulated the good pragmatic leadership of Awo in the West, Nigeria would have been a more civilized great nation and there would be nothing like Boko Haram today, because Awo made education the foundation for human development and that is why majority of the Yorubas are still the most civilized Nigerians. The bad ones are those who did not take advantage of the free education provided by Awo.

GEJ.

His emergence and ascension has left many dazed and in shock, asking themselves 'how did this happen'?

He appears 'weak', a pushover, yet all that opposed him, he overcame. Leaving his opposition like a beaten poppy with their tails between their legs, screaming blood and go about hitting their chest like a proud baboon. How he does this amazes me.

The Commander-in-Chief being taken as an underdog. Making his opposition underestimate him and they foolishly call him clueless.

You just have to give it up to GEJ. He is fantastic.

Fresh Air till 2019.

-Chief Obafemi Awolowo
-Alfred Diette-Spiff.

Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff was the first Governor of Rivers State, happened to be my father's friend.
He was governor from the young age of 25! And until July 1975 during the military administration of General Yakubu Gowon and this administration remains the best so far in the history of Nigeria.
The military governors were young and competed to outperform each other.

Am sorry for those who dont know Chief Sam Iheonukara Mbanefo.

Before him there was nobody like him, after him we are yet to see anybody that can hold a candle for him in Nigeria, he is in the class of Lee Kuan Yu.

Mbakwe should have been cloned, he should be a god.

Gbam . You are right on point but you should know you will be attacked by some people here just for mentioning the High Chief name . No sane Nigerian would dispute your assertions about Chief Awolowo.
