What does it take to go into plantain farming and plantain flour production? (including estimated capital) You are very vast and experienced in this field. I intend setting up the farm in Ekiti state.

i have a question, op,....i got to know that plantain farmers are working towards selling plantain and banana per kilo.

that means the higher the weight the more ur profit and the least is going for 100naira per kilo.

my question now is this: what is the weight range of ur harvested plantain

the plantain? Where will the land be based? Will you assist to sell
the plantain after harvesting and how long will it take to sell everything?

Your best option is to have irrigation on the farm.

It gives uniform growth,uniform fruiting, disease resistant and good yield


See the Advantage of using good suckers
On 1 acre of land using hybrid cultured suckers
1000 suckers produces 1000 bunches
selling at N800-N1200/bunch
Revenue = N800k

On 1 acre of land using traditional suckers
1000 suckers produces 200 bunches
selling at N800-N1,200 per bunch
Revenue= N200k

There are different markets for Plantain.local market where they buy per dozens,some factories buys in kg,some exporting firms buys in bunch.
You need to establish relationship first by which you can now decide to sign contract agreement for regular supply
