verchris no be so eh!!!!
i did an internship in London. I finished just last year & guess what? dey won't retain you for ANY reason especially if you Nigerian without dual citizenship. All the companies be like ''we regret to inform you that after careful consideration we will not be proceeding with your application''
''reason: You need to provide proof that you have working rights in the UK for us to proceed with your application''
If you don't have a ''Leave to remain'' visa or a british passport or you are not an EU national, fogerrit....
I however have a peculiar case of my best friend who happened to be retained in his US company but UK nothing for you. my guy has a masters from a top university, so retaining him was easier after internship
Now am reasoning that US sef.

yea I knw UK is tough. But there are exceptions. My best friend got a job in Telecom company. Another female friend a set below me also did after their respective masters. Another is working at Accenture also in same uk ...and the list goes on. The only difference is that all of them that got jobs are I'm software. So I guess IT and Engineering might have an advantage. In US once u get internship, once u behave urself there are good chances u will be retained.
Re: NDDC POST-GRADUATE FOREIGN SCHOLARSHIP 2015 by Nobody: 8:46am On Jul 15, 2015
there is something about them. Either they were top of their class or they got some other academic or volunteer award.
IT & Engineering people are just getting the work left, right & centre.
We need to up our game though! No dulling at all #peace

Mehn. if i knew NDDC honors Norwegian admission, I would have applied to Norway. That place is better in getting post-school opportunities in petroleum geosciences than the UK.

I guess its late now to apply for september admission.

if NDDC can be willing to defer the scholarship till september 2016, I just might forgo my admission to the Uk and head for Norway next year instead.

This UK postgraduate education has been overrated enough. C'mon, when other nations in same Europe are offering far excellent programmes that are tuition free and completely taught in English, they are there formulating policies that will boomerang on them.

On another note, it may even be better for NDDC to delay and award the scholarship next year as it will afford enough time for folks to secure admission into better, inexpensive and even tuition free programmes in other parts of Europe.

But really, I need the schools, please help a broda wink

no beef bruh... NO TIME!!!
But seriously you need to check the top schools as per your course of study. That's the only way to be sure you are in a top school for your category. Also check forbes, bloomberg etc for those updates [some schools actually fall of the ranking from time to time]

I will rather resume in uk by january and do a 1 yr masters than wait till sept 2016 to do a 2 yrs masters anywhere else. Despite the newly proposed immigration policy of the uk govt, i believe that academic excellence in your masters programme (in a good university) will surely open doors. The white man values 'intelligence' will recruit/keep a student/graduate he can benefit from. The harsh immigration policy is not new, it has been there for some years now; yet many nigerians dont return. Waiting till sept 2016 to do a 2 yrs masters or a 1 yr masters in a non-english speaking country isnt an option for me.

There is nothing like academic excellence in Nigeria. If you think education or masters will land you a good job in Nigeria, then you are reasoning like a sane man in an insane society.

Only GOD can open doors for anyone in Nigeria.
NDDC or no NDDC, Masters or no Masters God is the answer.

I agree with you. I cannot do my masters in a non English speaking country but I'm likely to wait if Australia is an option.
As for UK and their immigration rules, any serious minded naija boy who is really determined to live and work there should know what to do by now..if you can't do it do not complain. after all, they did not open their borders for charitable reasons.
