ʝσηαтнαη ιη 2011, During his visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Jonathan said, “If I’m voted into power, within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make significant improvement, and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything—even if I am there for the next four years.” |

KingAdeOluomo1: Good you aren't a failed individual thus easily cowed with Minister Mohammed Wakil wishful thinking that SA power generation and supply is that bad that it would copy Nigeria's "success story" in its "power sector reform model". I was in SA for 2 weeks recently and power supply was not disrupted for even a minute.I am not saying they are not without their own flaws but their government seems more sincere in delivering true dividend of democracy to its citizenry . Nigerian leaders should talk less and allow their good deeds do the talking for them. Be frank, has the whole power sector privatization process truly transcend to stable power supply?? ? 1 Like

When you listen to GEJ and his ministers especially Adesina and Ngozi, you need to pinch yourself to check whether you are still alive in Nigeria! Soon they will claim that US is looking up to Nigeria in running their railways! 1 Like |

Nonybb:In which South Africa?.....l guess you are referring to either P.M. Bothas' South Africa or F. W. de Klarks' South Africa.......But not surely Jacob Zuma's South Africa.....where power is rationed with small end businesses and home owners all the worst for it..... Even neighbouring Ghana ain't faring any better... Nigerians need to keep abreast with goings-on around them and stop fixating themselves with wizkid and Davidos' beef....after all we are proudly heavily certificated..... |

My problem with the youth of Nigeria is that they dont read; even if they do they do not comprehend. Do they teach reading and comprehension in primary schools these days?? Look at what the minister of state said, and read what this dunce wrote insulting the minister. "Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil, has said Nigeria was now a power sector reform model to the South African government, saying that country now emulates Nigeria’s power sector privatisation model for the transformation of its ailing energy sector". They may pass us in power generation; but due to their recent power problems they think our model of solving the problems of power is worth emulating. Yes they look up to us in terms of the model we used/trying to use to solve the problems i.e. breaking the PHCN into GENCOs and DISCOs. eliment: |

hakddream: Kikikkkikkki, I laugh in Sesotho! South Africa imitating Nigeria on power model? Are you guys smoking your socks? In anyway, when has privatisation become Nigeria designed model? By the way even if Eskom could be broke as hell, our power stability Will stay way above Nigeria's power supply. At its worst we get two hours cut in a week of power supply so far. Now copy that! 4 Likes |

joe4christ: I don't live in 9ja but I am a 9ja blue blood. I have been to all part of Nigeria. I did my IT in the North - Jos and Jigawa (exploring for chad basin glass sand in Firji village near Kazaure and Daura), I went to university in North Central and I did my youth service in Niger Delta. I did my university project looking at oil potentials of Enugu shale....and I spent time in Enugu doing field work. So my friend, I know 9ja more than you do but also I have seen the world, I have been to all part of Africa, from South Africa to LIbya to Algeria to Gambia to Siera Leone to Mozambique to Tanzania to Ghana and also to Singapore to Malaysia to Dubai to Norway to France to America to England to Scotland to France to Austria and the list goes on....I have seen how and why things work in some places and why they don't work in other places. So when we see a policy or framework that will work in Nigeria, we know instantly and don't argue with those that are wiser than us. You see most of our fellow young NIgerian's problem is that you can't look ahead of the current situation....but make noise for no just reason.......FYI, my family still live in Nigeria and they face the same problem that you face....we buy fuel and power generators but we know why things are like that and for the first time we've seen someone come out with a solution to the problem that took nearly 3 decades to get us to where we are today........ |

BluIvy: I like your patriotism and I am proud of you as a South African....It makes sense for you to say that you can't compare yourselves with the current power situation in Nigeria.....but you have just started seeing the begining of the end as it began in Nigeria many years ago.....my father's generation will tell you that no one expected the power problem will be like this but it started with 1- 2hr power outage until it got to 24hrs and even 1 week and sometimes 1 month or months of no power for some people.....Nigeria's case is a big lesson for most African countries.....but you know South Africans are wise, they've seen that if they don't address what you are starting to experience using the solutions NIgeria is using now, they will get to where Nigeria finds herself in no distant future..... |

hakddream: my man the thing is Nigerians always want to project their problems on other countries ,south Africa in particular...the only thing that south Africans can copy from Nigeria is how to play football...no south African is currently talking or proposing about privatization of energy...its only existing on Nigerians minds...we had massive power cut in 2008,nothing new... 1 Like |

hakddream: Mr, you might be more exposed than i am in terms of travelling, but i just might be more rational and less sentimental than you are, you dont just swallow all you hear hook line and sinker cos it's befiting to the ear. We've heard more promising crap like this in the past, but what have we to show for it? No policy meant to bring about development in the power sector would see the light of the day cos Almighty corruption is still much present... And pls spare me the details about how you've once been to all heavens & hell, as far as current power generation and distribution is concern i'm damn enlightened than you are, so you can stay put in yankee and assume our present condition, that's left for you. baybeeboi: You spend a lot of time in business section while you know nothing about business. When you buy a dead or half alive business. It takes time to pick up to the new business strategy of the buyer. There must always be a drop in the efficiency and effectiveness of the business till it normalize under the new management before it pick up steam. |
