Jonathan goes around to boast of a "free and fair" 2011 election as his achievement, so why is he afraid of presenting himself before the same umpire?

Its in the constitution bro,he must go on a 3months leave before his tenure ends, same thing applied to INEC chairman.. Everything shouldn't be political...

One thing: Pa Alex Ekwueme, Femi Okunrounmi, Edwin Clark and too many prominent people who represent the interests of millions of people in the south of Nigeria have said they do not trust Jega to conduct next election.

So if Jega insists and conducts the election, and Buhari wins, the results may be rejected.

Former Chairman of National Population Commission left the Commission after only Kano state governor, Kwankwaso said Kwankwaso's north did not trust the Population Commission Chairman to conduct the next national census.

Jega ought to have even resigned without a sack, at least to maintain his integrity, if he is sure he is not biased.

Judging by your post, Jonathan should have resigned since. Not so?

why wont Jega be removed? Even if not for him go on a terminal leave, he should be sacked for painting our president black in the eyes of the world with his lies. Jega told the world on 7th February 2015 that INEC was ready to conduct elections on 14th of February. But today 1st of March 430000 PVCs of Lagos have not been printed. What would have happend to these people? A man that absorbs himself of blame and made the world to blame his boss, will it it be bd if his boss sacks him?
All the war zones in North East has collected their cards while many peaceful states in the south are yet to take delivery of their PVCs from INEC of in Abuja because it has not been printed.

Jega has to give way for another man to take his place.

Never Again will Jega deceive us

Reading the press statement from PDP below, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to come out clear and explain to Nigerians the links between it and the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, which informs and propels its feverish fixation and huge interest in his stay in office.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Saturday said it is more than curious that the APC has continued to fabricate stories and show undue interest on Prof. Jega, adding that such raise a lot of questions for the opposition and the INEC Chairman.

“Undoubtedly, the frenzy, hysteria and spate with which the APC has been inventing stories regarding Prof. Jega’s stay in office even when nothing suggests that such was on the table, raise a lot of issues.

“We ask, is there any underlining issue or arrangement between APC and Prof. Jega which the opposition is hell-bent to protect, informing its anxiety and apprehension towards his stay in office?

“While it is noted that the APC is a party of one week, one lie. We in the PDP look beneath the surfaces to the deeper issues propelling the lies. We therefore challenge the APC to come out clean and tell Nigerians the real reason behind their false alarms and uncontrolled nervousness regarding Prof. Jega ahead of the 2015 general elections.

“Finally, we wish to remind the leadership of INEC that Nigerians are monitoring its activities and series of unfolding political events ahead of the elections, and will not accept anything less than the conduct of credible, free and fair general elections come March 28 and April 11, 2015”,

PDP is just so frustrated, Jega has not done anything against the Constitution, people are so blind and daft, the stories PDP members bring up are so fake even to a 2 year old, Jega's innovations and coordinations is d best an INEC chairman can offer so far....

Let's March for GMB.
Welcome to the month of March my beloved people cool

Oh my beloved country. Politicians would not cease to amaze us, they have different rules for a particular type of issue, the rules that suit them is the rule that is ideal. Let's go back to memory lane.

In 2007 the then INEC Chairman Prof. Iwu conducted an election that was said to be fraudulent by the opposition and collaborated by the then elected president, there was minimal or no violence. Prof. Iwu's tenure was to end on the 13th June 2010 and was forced by GEJ to embark on terminal leave on the 28th April 2010 and there was no noise at all.

Then came prof. Jega on board and he conducted an election in 2011 that was said to be free and fair by all most all observers and the Government but was said to be rigged massively by the opposition, then came one of the worst election violence in Nigeria's history(520 people were killed in Kaduna and Niger state alone,22000 people were displaced, 157 churches and 46 mosques were burnt, 1435 houses were burnt.... http://thelawyerschronicle.com/nigerias-2011-elections-free-fair-and-credible/). note that the opposition led by GMB cried foul, also note the famous inciting statement of ''let the baboon and dogs be soaked in their blood'' and also note the personal attacks on the INEC chairman.

-Today the president that claim INEC organized election was free and fair wants to force Jega on retirement.
- Today the opposition that says the election organized by Jega in 2011 was massively rigged wants him to remain there.

Prof. Iwu went for terminal leave it was not said to be illegal and so Prof. Jega can also go for terminal leave it would not be illegal too as long as it falls within the time frame. His tenure would expire on 23rd June 2015 meaning that he can go for terminal leave on the 23rd March and it won't be illegal.

The thing now is that everyone is tired of the government and retiring Jega would cause calamity.

For the sake of correction, the statement ''let the baboon and dogs be soaked in their blood'' is being used out of context. Anyone who reads it in its true meaning would no it's not inciting violence. Also, 2015 was referred

Since PDP claims they conducted a free and fair election as an achievement with Jega, why do they now want to sack him?

It doesn't make sense.

Where is the correction? If the statement was quoted out of context according to you, what context should it have been quoted or what did he mean by the statement let '' the baboon and dogs be soaked in their blood"?
The statement was made in 2011 and not 2015 that statement means nothing but an incitement to violence.

As I said earlier in 2011 PDP hailed Jega , while the opposition accused him of aiding the rigging of the election and now 2015 PDP wants him to go while the opposition wants him to stay.

It doesn't matter the reasons both parties are presenting, but what matters is the position of the law. The law gives room for a terminal leave of 3 months to his terminal date from office and this weapon was used on Prof. Iwu by this same president and if he decides to use it against prof. Jega so be it as long as it falls within the law. Prof Jega tenure expires in 23rd June meaning he can't go for terminal leave before 23rd March 2015. From 23rd March 2015 he can go for terminal leave and it would be legal
