I watched this documentary I couldn't help but laugh at what the Nigeria Air force was calling special forces. How do women make it into special forces? Countries like Russia, USA, Israel, France, Germany, Poland, Norway to mention a few have a well trained special forces outfit and we know that the failure rate is very high. Hundreds of serving military personnel enter the program but only few graduate. The chief of Air staff should tell us he trained regiment personnel in base defense and other duties. No doubt the tactics taught to them is better than any other training available in the airforce but it is not enough to call them SPECIAL FORCES. How do you train over 2000 special forces soldiers in just 2 years? Unless they're not tier one operators, that feat can't be achieved. In what world do soldiers enter for such training and most of them graduated? Only in Nigeria. Special forces personnel that upload pictures of themselves on Instagram constantly, no secrecy whatsoever? The airforce chief has tried but he should stop over hyping his achievements.

There are over 1000 SOF not 2000 taken from NAF Regiment personnel. Base Defence personnel are normal Regiment troops trained to defend NAF bases. The Panthers are more SOF like the Royal Marines or British Paras in being elite forces rather than the traditional SF that we know. NNSBS are more the traditional SF.

The more courses they branch out in, the more they become SF i.e. like CSAR aand other specialist courses. It takes a long time to train SF and even the CAS said that when the Panthers personnel graduate, they are even sent for further acclamitisation courses where they are posted.

Remember also that some are eliminated in the pre-selection training.

And you think i have a problem, please point out where i insulted you. I would like to see that.
Stop getting too emotional, i never insulted you.
You are asking people to search for part 1, yet you were the one who posted part 2, right? Well, that was the subject of my comment. Regardless what part 1 says, part 2 says we caught up with SA based on air power, we didn't. It's that simple, IS jane or not, or whatever you said.
And for a great contributor, if you want to be taken seriously, how about you stop spreading lies on here? Because that JF-17 you claimed have landed, is yet to be seen, the thing dey your car garage? I beg let us see am grin grin

I've known you from the days of Beegeagle..you were one of the mature contributors..now you are no better than the simpletons we have here who think you have a monopoly on opinion. Do you even have a job besides spewing crap and making rash judgement? I doubt if you knew me in real life or know my pedigree you will open your mouth to insult my personality and call mentally deranged. You are most disrespectful and full of it. But I don't blame you
.I blame myself for the insult.

Just know if you knew who I was in person and know my pedigree you will not dare address me in such a provocative language.

Well, if you did any sort of research, you'll see that Norway has a female special forces team.

However, this is nairaland, the home of ranting and no research.

You did not watch that documentary.

It was clearly stated that regiment personnel mainly perform base protection duties, while the Panthers conduct Force protection and special forces missions.

There training regime was also clearly spelt out.

So what if SF dudes upload pictures of themselves on social media? Lots of SF dudes do that around the world.

It is individual enthusiasts who blur out faces of these operators.

I didn't even need to search, right off social media.

Dutch KCT(Special Forces) in Mali

Swedish SF also in Mali

Personal pictures.

Why do Nigerians complain so much even without doing basic research?

In-terms of numbers, US military SF is 70,000 in number. That's 70% the number of the entire Nigerian army.

Their SF training is so hard, yet they managed to pull in 70,000 persons.

If they were an army in Africa, they would be the 7th largest.

The Royal Marines or British Paras are not SOF, not even close to it. I can only speak of the British Paras because I was in the same brigade as them, trained with them, and deployed with them. The only difference between the Paras and other British Army troops is that the Paras have a higher physical fitness requirement to get in and remain in, they also need to do a jump course to get their wings. This doesn't make them SOF though, anyone in the wider Army can undergo the jump course, pass it and get the wings. The UK isn't like the US where anyone can do undergo a physical fitness course, do a few jumps and call themselves SOF. It's a separate pathway entirely outside the regular Army. When I was with the American 82nd Airborne, 99.9% of soldiers I saw there had a SF badge. It's because they have a different 'easier' system there compared to the UK.

Plus, when you talk about 'the Paras', it's a bit of a misnomer because there are 4 units in the Paras of which only 1 Para is ever held at high readiness to support the British SF. 2 and 3 Para are regular Army troops as I mentioned above. 4 Para are a bunch of wannabe civilians who claim to be a reserve airborne unit. Personally, inasmuch as I acknowledge the high physical regime and winged up status of the Paras, I wouldn't even consider them to be 'elite'. A guy joins the Army, undergoes and passes a fitness course, gets his wings. It doesn't make him 'elite'.

The 1980s were the golden age of the Nigerian Air Force. A much poorer Nigeria with relatively no security imperative or threat was able to aquire some of the world's most advanced 4th Generation fighter jet..a full squadron.

Today a much richer Nigeria, the richest black nation in modern history fighting a decade long war that threatens the sovereignty of the nation is still negotiating for trainer aircraft and we Nigerians are lauding this as an achievement? We spend nearly a million dollars training pilots in training schools in the United States and South Africa only to put them in am aircraft that will not survive 10 minutes in contested airspace. Instead of opening factories or sporting complexes or fish ponds or forensic labs and building a parralel army to compete with the Nigerian army for allocation, why not FOCUS on improving Nigeria's Air defence capability.

Invest in fixed air defence batteries : NO
Invest in mobile air defense batteries: NO
Replace the aging ROLAND SHORAD: NO
Complement the ROLAND with more MANPADS: NO
Aquire more supersonic fighter jets to compliment the FOUR F-7Ni AIRGUARD we have for air defence: NO

We've seen Boko Haram make mince meat with the Alpha jet and Mi-17 helicopters. Months ago our brand new MI-35M was shot down. This means Boko Haram has improved it's air defence assets. In the year 2019 we are still converting trainer aircraft's for strategic missions. How many pilots have we lost to crashes? What a disgrace. No wonder nobody takes us serious anymore. We have lost respect in the region. Since Nigeria's military decline %70 of EFOWAS member states have signed strategic military cooperation with the United States an France. Can you imagine Alpha jets and L-29s protecting Nigeria's external reserves? There are simply not enough assets to secure the nation's airspace, maintain air superiority and secure strategic infrastructure. These mallams at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian armed forces are a joke. There are people here on nairaland that are better suited to take strategic decisions and improve the nation's air combat caps than these clueless punks we are parading about. Any Chief of Air Staff that invites the media to a ribbon citing ceremony to officially open a new FISH POND is not fit to employ as a dog catcher much less be in charge of defending the nation's air space.

Nigeria was richer in the 80's than today, im sure you didn't factor in the population explosion of the last decade and half.

Who can ID this gun for me

I was actually looking for a Double Barrel (Hunter's gun) from a friend who knows Police officer, so I can reinforce the defense of my home and my family.

So after a while he fed me back that there's no Double Barrel (Hunters Gun) but he too was told that if I can afford the one wrapped in the picture together with License/ Permit processing, then it will be a better option for me, according to him.
He further said that he too didn't see it as its actually wrapped as brand new but it is a 6-rounds Shotgun that uses Hunter's gun ammunition, and falls into the category that I can be granted Licence/ permit on.

So I've trying to figure out what exact model of Shotgun could it be.....?

Chad caused Nigeria's problem in the first place. Thousand kpv zsu anti aircraft killer technical Toyota battalions came through their lands into Nigeria from 2012 when BH started overrunning NA bases. Cameroon, Niger Rep, Chad are permanent open transit routes for deadly Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Arabia Middle East black market military grade weapons killing our soldiers and alpha jets. 300 Chibok girls were kept enslaved for years in Cameroon-Chad forests, reason UK, US, and NAF flews best ISR planes and drones searching Nigeria but never found our girls.

If Chad like, let them not join us, if Nigeria becomes viable BHT ISWAP base, they will launch Jihad into Chad too, they never get satisfied taking one country, they spread caliphate everywhere they can to gain worldwide empire, Mali was not enough prize fro them. If those 40,000 Boko Haram fighters at full strength had focused on Chad's 20,000 army, they will beg France for oyinbo legion battalions intervention force. As for BHT focusing on Cameroon, Biya will run to hide in Paris, while Niger Rep will cease to exist grin grin grin grin. Nigeria's 195 million population, NAF young pilots like late Hedima that will never give up, our 500,000 army+police is just too big for BHT to overrun.
