Too late to stop what..... ?
France and Chad invading Nigeria...?
What is now happening?

Guy...Chadian forces have been spotted in Borno on numerous occasions. The fact that they did not set up camp or left does not make it less than an invasion. Nigerian troops will not cross into Cameroon or Chad or even Niger without prior notification or authorization. The Chadians are walking tall..and can you blame them? Having the U.S and France set up shop in Chad makes the country virtually impenetrable. Chad has the most capable desert armies in the region.

That's because Nigeria has a pact with neighboring countries on the fight against BHT. This is to eliminate the bureaucracy involved with border issues. That being said the involvement of Chadians troops is a big plus as far as desert warfare is concerned those guys are the most tested and battle hardened in the west African region. Nigeria don't even have enough manpower to properly man our borders, it is only commonsensical seek for help from neighbouring countries. I don't buy all this talk of France invasion of Nigeria

ECOWAS CDS MEETING: GEN OLONISAKIN TAKES OVER LEADERSHIP, SEEKS COLLECTIVE ACTION AGAINST TERRORISM, OTHER CRIMES

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin has called for intensification of intelligence gathering, joint and combined operations in order to combat the security threats currently plaguing the ECOWAS region.

General Olonisakin who assumed leadership of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff on Wednesday at the ongoing 39th ordinary meeting in Abuja said collective efforts by each member state as well as collaboration with other stakeholders and partners in the pursuit of collective security and economic development will ensure peace and stability in the region through the platform provided by ECOWAS.

Listing the threats ranging from insurgency, terrorism to piracy, human and drugs trafficking, oil theft and other vices at sea, he said these security threats have been exacerbated by the proliferation of small arms, and light weapons occasioned by the numerous porous borders within the sub-region.
General Olonisakin disclosed that the acquisition of these weapons has emboldened the criminal elements in their nefarious activities.

“The growing trend of local terrorist organizations affiliated with and receiving support from well known international terrorist organizations has also become very worrisome. This trend portends grave danger to our collective security. It is a matter of concern that terrorism and violent extremism have continued to threaten the peace and security of our sub-region. These security threats have been exacerbated by the proliferation of small arms, and light weapons occasioned by the numerous porous borders within the sub-region.

This threat calls for collective action on the path of each member state as well as collaboration with other stakeholders and partners. In this regard we need to intensify intelligence gathering, joint and combined operations to combat this menace. It is hoped that through this frequent interaction of ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff and our political leaders, our collective efforts at ensuring peace and stability in our region will be fruitful,” he added.

While emphasizing the need for more frequent interaction among the Committeeof Chiefs of DefenceStaff, he described the ongoing meeting as “another ray of opportunity to interact and avail ourselves the information and collaboration needed to better the cause of ECOWAS region.”

He expressed appreciation to Presidents and Commanders-in- Chief of the Armed Forces of the various countries in the sub-region for their unwavering commitments to ensuring that their various Armed Forces are provided with the wherewithal to execute regional responsibilities despite other competing demands.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Defence (Nigeria), Mrs Nuratu Batagarawa called for more training for the troops to enhance their operational capability.
She congratulated General Olonisakin on his new appointment and promised the support of the Federal Government of Nigeria to the smooth conduct of the Command Post Exercise by the ECOWAS Standby Force scheduled to hold in Nigeria later in the year.

The Permanent Secretary who was also the Special Guest of Honour at the meeting enjoined the ECOWAS Standby Force to continue to support, cooperate and collaborate with the Nigerian military in the fight against terrorism and other vices facing the nation and the sub-region.

Also speaking at the event, the immediate past Chairman of the Committee represented by the Deputy CDS of Togo, Brigadier General Adjitowou Colman thanked Nigeria for the support, hospitality and other efforts in helping to secure the sub-region.

Enumerating some of the achievements of the committee, he mentioned strides made in Liberia, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Mali among other countries within the sub-region saying “we are laying the foundation for our Standby Force to be able to have a better reaction in the event of security challenges.”
He asked for measures that will tame the terrorists hampering development in the region.

The Togolese military chief also called for field visits, exercises, more solidarity, joint actions and other efforts to monitor and evaluate the readiness of the troops. These he said will create stability in the region and resist the forces of evil from spreading.

The ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Brigadier General Francis Benhazin while also speaking at the event enumerated some efforts made by the commission in containing the crises that could have brewed from disagreements after local elections in some countries of the sub-region.

The meeting which continues tomorrow will evaluate the security threats in the ECOWAS sub-region and the surrounding nations while reinforcing multilateral cooperation among member states.

I agree with some parts of your argument.

Right now the terrorists are winning the war in the NE. Over 90% of their attacks on NA bases have been successful. In fact, Nigerian Army has now, inadvertently, become their largest supplier of weapons and ammunition. Most of the trucks that were bought from Innoson have fallen into the hands of the terrorists. Beryl assault rifle, the standard issue of our SF have found their ways into the hands of the outlawed group. Some of our advance sniper rifle have been seen in the terrorists propaganda videos. The terrorists now believe that God is really behind them which is why their campaign has been largely successful. Many closet fanatic Northerners have now moved beyond salivating to the terror group propaganda videos to joining them. Indeed Nigeria is in a huge mess.

The situation is made more dire because many Nigerians don't know what is going on. The press has been successful gagged and any reporter who dare discuss the fact in the NE will be labelled an enemy of the state and a terrorist sympathizer. Worse still the Commander in Chief is clueless about the current state of affairs. He has been regurgitating the same old nonsense for the past four years, "Boko Haram has been technically defeated."

What about the human cost of this war?
Within the space of a year NA has lost almost more soldiers than it did during Jonathan era. The situation at the battle front is worsening by the day. Our troops' lives have become worthless. Buratai is now so used to hearing news of dozens of dead soldiers that the death of ten soldiers in a single attack is not calamitous to him.
Remember the death of four US soldiers in Niger that happened almost two years ago? New York Times is still writing article about it.That is a country that value human life.

More so, the intermittent airstrike from NAF has been rendered ineffective by the terrorists since they now fully understand the patterns of the airstrike.

If the average Nigerians realize the true extent of this war, they would wake up every day cursing the generation of Buratai and Buhari. Buratai for lying to senile Buhari and Buhari for not looking beyond his personal relationship with the Chief and seeing the reality.

Left to me, I would say we should pay Russia to help us nuke the entire Sambisa and Lake Chad. Let us start afresh.

There is a saying, "if things could go wrong, it will go wrong." It behoves on us to stop this calamity because it will get out of control if we don't.

I think it as to be more of regional power-play and politics.

Because the money is small.

When your mates like Egypt, UAE, Saudi, Chile and India typically make minimum order of US$ 1 billion for new weapons systems, you are coming to disturb them with US$600 million for Tucano.

On top corruption.

And after the whole country has fought about and given their opinion on the expenditure.

Of course they will run.

Like nemesis said, rules are hoes!!

Besides, IMO Obama had a twisted hatred for Nigeria. So that played it's role too.

It is bro.

In a year, the countries I mentioned spend no less than US$ 700 million................just on maintaining existing US platforms.

Before any fresh procurement.

Now look at how long it took us to procure platforms for US$ 600 million.

Size is relative, and my point is Nigeria ain't buying her size.

If FGN came up with a complete integrated system purchase for US$ 5 billion, Trump will come to Abuja and sign.

COUNTER INSURGENCY: NAF GRADUATES ANOTHER SET OF STUDENT PILOTS FROM AB-INITIO FLYING TRAINING

In furtherance of its sustained efforts to boost the capacity of its personnel for enhanced professional performance in combating insurgency and other forms of criminality in the country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has graduated another batch of 26 Ab-initio student pilots, including 4 female officers. The graduation ceremony, which took place today, 20 June 2019 at 401 Flying Training School (401 FTS), Kaduna saw 16 students pilots graduating on the Diamond 40 aircraft and 10 on the Super Mushshak aircraft types.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, represented by the Commandant, Air Traffic Services Training Centre, Air Vice Marshal Haruna Mohammed, recalled how flying training in the NAF plummeted to its lowest ebbs in the 90s owing to a myriad of challenges ranging from unavailability of training platforms to logistics support related issues. He however revealed that from mid-2006 to date, successive NAF administrations had endeavoured to rejuvenate flying training in the NAF. He acknowledged the efforts of the CAS whose diligence to build adequate capacity in the NAF had materialized into the production of an unprecedented number of pilots, with 92 new pilots winged in the last 4 years. He further disclosed that since the inception of the current NAF leadership, the NAF had acquired 10 brand new Super Mushshak aircraft and upgraded facilities at 401 FTS to boost ab-initio flying training. AVM Mohammed urged the graduands to sustain the attitude of rugged determination that carried them through ab-initio training to the next phase of their flying training whilst continuing to work hard to reach the zenith of their careers.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 401 FTS, Air Commodore Enebong Effiom, disclosed that this was the first time that the school was graduating students on 2 aircraft types at the same time since its inception. He stated that the school had trained 114 student pilots, comprising 86 students on the Diamond 40 aircraft and 28 on the Super Mushshak aircraft, in the last 4 years. He attributed the success and commendable achievements of the Unit to the visionary leadership, unwavering support and enabling environment created by the CAS.

The course, which lasted for 17 months, consisted of 3 phases; namely ground academics, survival training and flying phase. Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to students who distinguished themselves during the training. Flying Officer Abdussamad Sadiq was the Best in Academics while Flying Officer Godwin Owoicho was the Best in Flying on Super Mushshak aircraft and Flying Officer Emmanuel Thomas was Best in Flying on Diamond 40 aircraft. Flying Officer Sarah Gbassa was the Best All Round, having distinguished herself in academics, flying, discipline and officership. Commandants and Commanders of NAF Units in Kaduna, family members and friends of the graduating students graced the occasion.

THE UNFORGETTABLE GENERAL MALU WHO REGRETTED NOT OVERTHROWING HIS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF: Lt. General Victor Samuel Leonard Malu (15 January 1947 – 9 October 2017) was Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) from 1999 to 2001 under the Obasanjo presidency & Force Commander of the ECOMOG peace-keeping force in Liberia from 1996, this photo wast taken in 1996 in Monrovia where Malu was posing with his gallant officers (he is the one holding the military swagger stick).

It was under General Malu that Odi was levelled with no mercy & Timaya had to sing about it. At the time of the February 1976 coup when General Olusegun Obasanjo took power, Malu was chief instructor of the Nigerian Military School, Zaria. Later, he chaired the tribunal that tried General Oladipo Diya & other officers for attempting to overthrow the Sani Abacha regime in 1997.

As ECOMOG Commander Malu impressed both Liberians & international observers, by March 1997 he was able to claim that Liberia was completely cleared of land mines. He fell out with Liberian President Charles Taylor, who in April 1998 accused him of trying to run a parallel government.

Malu was appointed Chief of Army Staff in May 1999 at the start of President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration and was dismissed in April 2001. Later, Malu said he warned President Olusegun Obasanjo to guard against American involvement in the nation's affairs, saying they were only aiming to further their own interests. He claimed that it was because the Americans disliked his views that Obasanjo fired him before the signing of the Nigerian-United States Military Cooperation Agreement.

In July 2005 Malu complained that the government was persecuting him. He said SSS seized his passport. He also said that his military service records had been declared missing & he was not getting fair treatment over his pension. In January 2006 he caused controversy when he spoke at a meeting of the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna, saying he regretted not having overthrown Obasanjo's government while he was COAS. The president's Public Affairs Assistant, Femi Fani-Kayode, said Malu’s statement was treasonable.

In September 2008 Malu, a diabetic, went into a coma & was rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital where he was placed on life support in the intensive care unit. Later he was transferred to a hospital in London, and after treatment for stroke was discharged from hospital to his Central London home in April 2009. Malu died on 9 October 2017 at the age of 70. #NigerianMilitaryHistory

THE ARMY GENERALS WHO MADE NIGERIA PROUD ABROAD: This was in Monrovia, August 1996 and Major-General John Mark Inienger (right) was handing over to Major-General Victor Malu (left) as the Commander, ECOMOG Peacekeeping Force, Liberia.

John Mark Inienger (1945–2002) was a Nigerian Army major general who served as ECOMOG field commander in Liberia, governor of Bendel State at a time when Lawrence Anini was terrorizing the whole region (now Edo and Delta States) between 1985 and 1987, during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, and commander of the Brigade of Guards responsible for protecting the President.

In May 1999, the military handed over to the civilian government headed by Olusegun Obasanjo. Within a month, the new government ordered that all officers who had served in the military government for more than six months must retire. Inienger was among 100 officers affected by this decision. Inienger died on 8 February 2002 while travelling by car from Jos to Makurdi, he was just 56. Malu was a diabetic and he died on 9 October 2017 at the age of 70. Both are of Tiv extraction from Benue State and are two of the most legendary generals in the Nigerian Army.

One patriotic mumu will soon come and tell me this kind of thing happens in the USA angry

Foolishness and political correctness will never make us crush insecurity in Nigeria. OBJ made it clear, Fulani herdsmen should be ruthlessly crushed. Let the herdsmen go back to sokoto or zamfara if people from other tribes do not want them to settle on their land.

You can't come to my farmland, ruin my farm with your malnourished cows all in the name of one Nigeria.

For this country to be able to take a great leap, we need to change the way we run things, if we're scared of the sentence "division of Nigeria" we can just practice confederation, this way we can make the 6 geo political regions strong republic under the Nigeria federation. The geopolitical region should have their own security operatives(military and non military) the federal government will only be in charge of foreign affairs and currency. Once we practice this confederation, any region that wants to practise full sharia will be able to do so, and anyone that wants to turn is region to a ranch will also do so.

I can assure you 100%, nothing will happen to the herdsmen that committed this crime against humanity, buhari won't even say anything concerning it.

As for me if IPOB can be proscribe a terrorist group, I see no reason why Fulani herdsmen won't also be proscribe a terrorist group.

It seems the unity of Nigeria is more important than the lives of the people living in this mere geographical expression.

Jonathan out of ethnic sentiment didn't know that what befell his administration was mere ill luck, as a result, he switched to deception mode mostly to obfuscate his southern supporters, boko haram was given a narrative of "Northern problem" instead of "National problem", every global incident was branded a scam, at a point he f00led his minions that BHT was a force to destabilize his administration, he stopped listening to foreign affairs because he believed his problem was at home, OBJ being a proxy of global hawks told him what was happening in Washington, he refused to listen, OBJ fell out with him.

The second crime of Jonathan was supporting moles in his administration that compromised the intelligence of the global hawks.
Even at that, none of these misdemeanors of his landed Nigeria in any major trouble.

The biggest crime of Jonathan was falling out with the most powerful man in congress Late Sen John Mccain (Rep) Arizona, a man that is more powerful than most African presidents by influence. The longest serving senator in the armed services committee.
Now, study that Leahy's ban on Nigeria, it was a congressional ban with Mccain's hands all over it, Mccain at a point personally threatened Jonathan with invasion, the human rights clause in Leahy's ban is nowhere comparable to what US allies elsewhere does, however, that strained relationship built on Chibok denial (at at the time he was chairing the Subcommittee on African Affairs under the foreign affairs committee in Congress), landed jonathan in a big mess.

what did Jonathan do? he claimed Chibok was a scam, the US foreign affairs committee with the assistance of Africom all the way from Stuttgart, later confirmed that abduction, Africom provided the evidence on which michelle obama and others joined the BBOG campaign.
That day was the date the global hawks marked jonathan for destruction.

Most of his minions thought that loosing that election he still had the chance to fight back, hell no, Africom SOF command was already in Ghana monitoring the elections, if he had at least refused to concede defeat, he wouldn't last the next 12 hrs.
It was Mccain that destroyed Jonathan not Obama.

Compare it with this present arms gift to boko haram and ISWAP, do you still think there won't be serious consequences on the global stage?
Don't you think we should be discussing that MNJTF for arms recovery by now? Only a foolish optimist can deny the dark realities of the moment.
