I have heard and seen advices from people to others seeking suggestions or guidance.
One advice I'm yet to understand is this 'follow your heart'.
This doesn't make sense on so many levels.

1. How accurate will the person's heart be? The heart isn't always a sure guide if not, many who wrote their hearts in an exam would have had the best results.

2. How do you distinguish between your heart and your head? How do you know what the heart is saying and what the head is saying? How do you know the most accurate?

3. What is the difference the heart, the head and the mind? Which one should be chosen?

4. What issues should make you consider your heart or your head? If its a financial issue, which should you choose? If its an emotional matter, which should be chosen, heart or head?

5. A person seeking advice doesn't know the reliability of his/her heart or head hence the need for advice. Telling him to follow his heart is like telling him to do a guess work.

Adequate and accurate information is needed at all levels instead of resorting to the guess work called 'follow your heart'.

The heart's primary function is to pump blood. Secondarily it also react to danger by beating so fast or abnormally. It reacts to emotions by skiping beats. The brain control the heart, the brain pass information to the heart which reacts in turn. As for ur question "follow ur heart" it is a proverb which has so many meaning. For somebody to tell u follow ur heart from my perspective is that u knw what u want, and when u see something that meet to ur standard u go for it. Thanks

Let us go spiritual.

Jeremiah 17:9 says "the heart is more treacherous than anything else and its desperate, who can know it?.... Nobody

Matthew 15:19 also says that "out of the heart come wicked reasoning, murders, adulterers, sexual immorality,thefts,false testimonies, blasphemy. "

So, do u still wanna follow your heart?

Look at this scenario!

A pretty lady comes into ur apartment almost unclad trying to seduce u,.. will u follow ur heart or brain?

Wat if you found out you had no condom, and she begs u to give her raw sex, will u follow ur heart or your brain?

Let say an individual mistakenly sent #500,000 into ur account during a time u are dead broke, will u follow ur heart or brain?

Of course we are in no way speaking in absolutes here, I'm guessing this isn't a follow your heart ONLY or your brain ONLY kind of thread, but more of a which should lead more.

So as you rightly said, out of a wicked heart comes wickedness, but you failed to also state that out of a kind heart come kindness.

Our conscience allows us to know if our hearts are aching, we only reason away this ache with rationalizations from the brain.

If your heart aches, heal it first, then follow it.
