arbitter: We have been down that same road with ObasanjoKs Poverty Alievation Program, PAP and it failed woefully because it was not only economically unsustainable as it was eating deep into the National purse at the expense of Real deveopment and growth but was further pauperizing the youth and turning thhe state to a paternalistic organ. There is no room for error and experimenting. This program of govt welfare will further make the north more parasitic to the state as we know very well that this social program will be adopted widely in the north than the south. Buhari's only reason for being propped up by Washington is that he adopts such silly programs which he will fund with freshly minted paper dollars to keep us in debt and servitude to the dollar and western bankers for the next 40years! This is what all this change chanting nonsense is after all about. You can thank that Political Hitman soon to become economic hitman Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has sold you out to the IMF! 1 Like 1 Share |

@ the OP I thought the 25 million of the poorest, actually meant that 25M, you can see an obvious shift in position by the APC. I have a few questions since when must the poorest or unemployed have kids to enjoy the 5000 naira benefit? You said it would be done in phases of 5 000 000 a year, so what now happens to the first batch of the 5 million after year 1? Do they automatically become rich? Or they are cut off from the programme for phase 2 to join? Or both phase 1 and phase 2 will be part of the programme? Secondly during the campaigns unemployed graduates were promised internship programmes with stripends? The currents governments GIS programme pays 30k. One wonders what the APC will do? Thirdly, during the campaign NYSC peeps were promised stipends even after NYSC. We've not considered the money for the elderly and the physically challenged? May God help #Nigerians 1 Like |

crownprince102: The beauty of spending this N1.35 trillion is that (1) The money will not be in the hands of looters (2)The recipients will not be saving the money in any account but instead will spend it to take care of the immediate needs of body and soul. What this means is the instant infussion of N1.35 Trillion into the economy. Just imaging what that will do for Nigerians! This is a very well ht-out policy. 1 Like |

300b to be spent on ' 5million poor families' annually, at the rate of 5000 each ! In this globalizing economy ? Thats so insane ! 5000 per month, pls what can that do ? Why not take the gross amount of 300b to invest and then employ this 'poor folks' . Like that, even the rich folks will benefit ! |

As for those thinking the 5 m per year may likely be tinted towards a particular region.. This is very simple..we have 6 geopolitical regions in Nigeria and 5m would be divided into 6, regions with more population gets higher % from the division. This is simple.. parents with kids in primary schools would be used to determine who gets the fund. you just have to prove that you have kids in government primary school and I believe admission letter and result sheets would be used to verify these kids.. As for how to detect who is extremely poor? your living condition is enough to prove that. |

Who said the policy can't work? The fact that GEJ is a failure doesn't mean his successor will fail. If the past stolen monies are partially recovered, and the economy is diversified as promised, the policy will work. Let me remind you guys that UNICEF, DFID, UNESCO, UN and other organisations like to support programs like these. Buhari will out-perform GEJ. Haters can choke on that. 1 Like |

Asylum seekers in Germany are paid monthly for doing no form of work.I believe Nigeria has the resources it needs to carry out this plan but the greedy politicians below the president won't do as expected The president does not have the power to look into every matter in the nation,he needs help from his followers. I trust Nigerian to cook up false marital status soon because of 5000 naira |

Buhari is considering appointing tam david west and idika kalu for ministers. I said it several times that apc never prepared for this government, they thought pdp would have rigged the election so as to create tension and chaos in the country. I was in primary school when david west and kalu idika kalu was ministers of petroleum and finance respectively. Is this the change the apc government is clamoring for? 1 Like 1 Share |

ShowYourCertificate:Nice question, Note that if this innovation never existed in Nigeria, the poor will survive. The N5000 only serve as assistance to the family. Except for spiritual cases, N60,000 is enough to start something reasonable in Nigeria of today. This is more like a national cake, we can't get it all at a time. |
