We all fall in love for different reasons and most times the people we love the most are actually friends who stick with us through trying times.

There was this young lady names Sandra who I became friends with in my university days. There were features I admired so much about her and the feeling was mutual. I started visiting her in her hostel and from there we got talking about all kinds of stuff.

It was only natural that one would be having ideas of a s*xual nature at some point and there's no denying that I did. She also admired me and even complemented me a few times. There were times she would call me from her hostel balcony while I'm passing by just to wave at me. She was also one of the very few ladies who deemed it fit to call me a "fine boy".

There's no denying that I liked her. There were also red flags about her. Her skin tone wasn't too appealing and that to me was a turn off.
*something about excessive cosmetics* . That may have been part of the reason I never popped the question.

However we were still friends up to the point that I would escort her to do some grocery shopping and even help move her things to a new apartment.

We even slept in her room together at one time. *not on the same bed*
I could barely sleep that night with too many ideas running through my mind.

Meanwhile, she had a boyfriend all through this period and the guy knew about me. He never at any point asked anything or harassed me tho'. He even gave me a cheesy look sometimes whenever he saw me on campus. I guess she explained to him we were nothing but friends.

Long and short of this is that the friend zone isn't always a bad place to be. Some girls are just better being friends.

FriendZoning is way more than that, first find someone u have a strong emotional attachment too and she only sees u as her brother. It is then u will know the devil is not worst than a girl from abia.

@op, you weren't friendzoned at all! Instead, you were simply her good friend and there's nothing wrong with that.
A guy and a girl can be really cool friends without the guy/girl being friendzoned.

However, remember that once you're always around someone of the opposite sex, thoughts of sex must always run across your mind once in a while.

For me, being in the friendzone involves being really in love with someone but choosing to be "just friends", simply because you've become too close that she sees you as her 'brother', and for that you can't ask her out. In some cases, when you finally man up to ask her out, she'd tell you that she's contented being 'just friends' with you.... And some guys continue with the friendship. Now, that's the worst type of friendzoning because you've made your intentions known to her but still chose to be an errand boy.... After visiting her boyfriend, you'd be the one to buy her Panadol and snacks because she's weak.
Sometimes, if she quarrels with her boyfriend, you'd be the ultimate peace maker; while your soul bleeds.

People over-rate this friendzoning thing. C'mon!! It's no big deal. Women will always have plethora of wooers to choose from, so they can't date all. If the woman turns you down and would rather be just friends with you, take the hurt like a man and be just friends with her. Then move on. Women plenty na. If one rejects you, turn to another. We can't always get what we want.

Men usually get turned down because we do the chasing. It's natural. Everything can't favour us. There are things that favour us, like we can get married any time we want without people pressurising us, unlike our females that get pressures from all angles to settle down. The ladies hate it too. So next time a lady friendzones you, accept the hurt, be her friend if you can, and move on to another chick. EOD!!
