I think that is the difference in our societies. Here in UK, Even with a 3rd class (due to my last minute poor gambling on exams questions), I got a job in a multinational pharmaceutical just 4months after graduation last year. I had series of interviews even more than my mates with better. What helped was dat i had done a year placement (what you call industrial attachment in Nigeria) in a hospital after 2nd yr and so by graduation, i had a yr's experience. Moreover, my employers were looking for 3 main qualities. A bioscience degree holder, good communication skills and attention to details. I was able to demonstrate how i met all this in my cover letter, cv and the interview. While at uni, I worked part time in a call center so i had loads of good communication examples to give. I was able to use examples from my placement where i gave proper attention to details. This little skills helps be it from anywhere. I only pray the lord visits you soon though. It would be nice letting us know what your degree was on too..?

Create a job for yourself, must you be employed? You can be an employer. There are a thousand and one thing you can do To generate income.
A lot of us didn't even finish the university yet we are employers.

Put your skills and abilities into good use.

Please stop writing applications. Your distiny does not lie in paid job but in self emp!oyment. Just start doing something, anything .

Everyone is just saying work for free but even companies are not ready to accept Volunteers. I have written about 15 volunteer application letters to companies without reply. I have even gone to several companies without been able to pass the gate because I wasn't on appointment to see anyone.
So how would you suggest I go about this?

There is no way on earth the OP could have been qualified for all those openings. 1000. Na how many degrees you hold? Applying to every single opening and expecting results will get you nowhere.

His post shows the frustration of many Nigerian youths. You may be a beneficiary of government largesse hence it will be difficult for you to feel how other Nigerians feel. I don't see anything wrong in applying for any and all vacancies where you meet the basic criteria. To answer the bolded, there are jobs only when people get employed. You'll recall the fatal immigration recruitment of March 2014. By March 2015, over a million people yet again applied for that same job -means same job advertised twice without employing a soul. I know a company perpetually in the job market doing "massive recruitment" only to employ a pitiable number or cancel and repeat the exercise wasting applicant's time and money.
It is time the government look into this employment scams and stop discriminating Nigerians based on age, gender, state of origin, religion, disability etc. All these should never be a yardstick for employment, except in special circumstances.
