toad is konkoo, frog is opolo.
op, the edible one is toad.u find dem in swampy areas and they usually make noise at night
The op is right. The edible one is frog. Thats why we have frog-jump. Because it can jump fast anybody. The inedible one is toad with poisonous skin. Found under stones, bushes and dry places. But there is nothing like toad-jump. I guess u got it.

Guys don't let's mislead ourselves. Toads are the ones Yorubas call Opolo. They're mostly brown/dark brown and have coarse, poisonous skin.

Frogs are the ones known as Konko or Ankere (remember that Fadeyi Oloro series). They have smooth green/brownish green colours and are the ones that make those terrible sounds in swampy or water-logged areas. They're quite tasty when roasted with a little amount of dried pepper and salt!
you are very very correct

A lot of ignorance flowing on this thread.

get it right: Both frogs AND toads have their poisonous and edible species. the distinctive marker is the poisonous ones will have very BRIGHTLY COLOURED skin to ward off potential hunters.

however, I should add that most of the species consumeed are the toads (speaking from experience cool
which experience pls don't mislead people Google is your friend toads are poisonous toads don't live in water toads don't have smooth slimy skin

Are yall forgeting your basic biology? Toads have rough spots with shorter legs and the skin is always dry. Those rough spots on its body is what makes it poisonous, except you are a skilled chef, toads are always toxic to eat, hence not edible. Now whereas frogs, they have long legs and their skin is always smooth and slippery. And I think they have bigger eyes. I wonder how some of you passed Waec. See why expo no good.
my brother nigerians are very smart people but but this topic got me baffling though

There are poisonous species of frogs, especially the one called arrow poison frog. These frogs are brightly coloured but full of poison, used as a defense mechanism against predators. Most species of toads if not all are poisonous.
ok you have gone scientific so are these other species in nigeria

What part of tiv land did you stay, curently serving in benue otukpo

I also served at oturkpo but I visited friends around the state. I first saw the roasted toads in Ushongo market, also in Gboko and Mak town. I don't recollect seeing such in Idomaland tho.
