Well, it is much a victory for the PDP as it is a defeat against Tinubu....and the APC.

The real reason why APC wanted the candidates it chose was to keep zoning balance intact. By voting for Saraki and Dogara along with the APC dissidents...the PDP has essentially made the Speaker (Hausa, but a Chirstian), the Senate President (Fulani) and the President (Fulani) basically from one region.

Thus making the APC look bigoted.

Of course....Buhari has to accept the victory....but saying that he also supported his Party's original candidates shows that he is not a party to the ''bigotry''

And a large chunk of those Northern senators are from minority tribes...whose views do not always jibe with what the Hausa/Fulani bloc says. And some of them are not APC.

The problem with state creation is the Constitution. You have to get a 2/3rd majority at the National Assembly plus two thirds majority of the state assemblies....and if I am not mistaken....you have to also get a referendum in the state to be divided on the issue.

You see why people are not shouting for state? (Lobbying costs alone are going to be high).

Think about it....was any state created in the times Nigeria had democratic governance? (Most states were created by millitary fiat).Infact during the Second Republic...there were fifty state creation movements.None of them got approved.
