President Buhari should tread with caution. In as much as i do not support paying billions to militias, if these militias start an insurgency the nigerian army would not be able to stop them, it is already spread too thin fighting boko haram. An insurgency in the south would cripple nigerias main source of income then there would be no money to even fight boko haram. He should avoid that at all costs if he wants nigeria to not become another failed state.

Enough is enough! Let all this local operatives go back to their home. Let a proper government security agencies take over the pipeline protection. And, they should make it a shoot at sight for any vandalism.

I think this move can pave way for the sane and educated youths to find there way in that crazy niger delta presided by empty headed thieves... angry...buhari should come out with an initiative to focus on those ready to build the zone instead of satisfying greedy criminals...it is because of these militants that serious plans cannot be implemented to handle the problems of the niger delta as a whole...we cant fight for resource control, true federalism because of the hunger of a few for wealth...

Long overdue.
Derelicts made to do the job of professionals makes one wonder what type of leaders we have.
NSDC, police, Arny, navy and other security operatives are their to protect the nation. The billions wasted for nothing would have fully trained our personnel to function at topmost capability in discharging this duty of pipeline protection and other security duties.
We have to terminate other if such shady contracts and recoup monies for capital projects.
Everyone should know that it is no longer business as usual as Nigeria must be great again.

Truth be told, we cannot continue in a situation where ethnic militias hold sway. We are not a banana republic; for crying out loud. Enough is enough!

I see arm robbery, kidnapping and the likes on the increase again. When u stop all this unproductive barbarians from their means of lively hood, expect them to go back to what they knows how to do best. Stopping them from doing the job though is a welcome development, but they should equally find means of integrating and engaging them in something meaningful or else.............

shamelly:
80 percent of opc members can't define pipeline and u expect them to protect it,protecting what they don't know about.
But thank God we have the right president at the right time if not, contract will soon be given to hunters to monitor our boarders.
Nonsense

grin comedians full nairaland sha!

grin Hunters for our Boarder Patrol, not even in 1880 BC did that happen, are you insinuating that Jonathan Govt put this Economy on Reverse Mode?

I think we really regressed, we went back in time under GEJ administration. Thank God for the Progressives, we will not Regress no more but Progress

No contract has been cancelled. OPC stated clearly that they are pulling out of the agreement due to non payment of their due amount by NNPC.

You're right it wasn't cancelled, it expired! Jona timed it to last for 3 months. To expire just after the elections, and he didn't even make any payments.

Sometimes he doesn't seem that daft considering how he kept scamming his core supporters (2nd Niger bridge, pipeline contract etc.)

Should be handled with caution.

You have to pay them what you already owe them and also penalty for contract termination.

Agreement is agreement.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

A country with full-service full-fledged armed forces employing ragtag bandits with crazy funds to protect national assets, whereas our armed forces are critically starved in their living standards - is this not complete madness
