"My name is" is most correct. There is no such thing as "My names are". Quote me anywhere. It irritates me when people murder grammar like this. |

chopnuckle:True...introduce yourself by saying my names are at an interview in a reputable. company .... all interest in you would disappear despite your pile of degrees....then you'll be shouting they don't like you because of your tribe or religion or they are all ritualists! 1 Like |

A name has lastname and firstname. For instance a name like Tuned Adeolu is a single name refering to one person. Tune is lastname and Adeolu is firstname. It is grammatically incorrect to say my names are because the two names still refer to one person. Exception is you are given more than one names, eg I was named Richard, Tomiwa, oluwa etc and none is my lastname hence I can say my names are...... I hope this clarify this. |

Too me both are correct depending on the context you use it. My Name is james My name is James Bond But if you are to use are !! You would be listing your names!! So an 'S' as to follow the name, (names) MY names are James Bond oluwavandam |

Both of them are correct becos my Name is. Just a singular while my Name are is Plural. |

"My names are" is totally wrong...If people read more literature and raised the level of their vocabulary they would realise this. "Is" is used in the "present" context not "singular" . So since your name is constant(for most people anyways) you should always use "is" 1 Like |

You have only one name but with 3 or 4 different words. Therefore "my name is" is the correct answer. |

Jeez... What the heck is 'my names are' ... Look at it this way... Your full_name still refers to you... Itz used to identify just you i.e one person (singular)... So 'my name is' is actually the correct phrase... Take for example the botanical name of maize which is 'zea mayz' ... Now, you don't say 'the botanical names of maize are zea mayz' because 'zea mayz' still refers to a maize... Oya applause moi... 1 Like |
