It has always been something of importance to look back to the Nigeria-Biafra war when the words "No victor No vanquish" comes to my hearing.
Though, majority were yet unborn, while some were still young in the days of the profusely offensive war that kicked off on the 6th of July,1967. But thanks to history that has kept the record for us and even the generation unborn.
meanwhile, some people describe the action of the Nigeria government and Nigeria army as a genocide on the then defunct Biafra side by imposing blockade on the coastal oil facilities exposing the Biafra side to severe famine.
The civil war has been recorded to have a military casualties and military losses of 35000 and 75000 respectively. where the civilian casualties recorded about 2-3million lives. What a huge figure!!!
The agitation of Biafra by igbos in the east and some minor tribes in the south south was for them to have a place they can be heard, a place where their view can be considered, a place where they will have a sense of belongings, a place where they will not feel marginalized. But checking what resulted to the Biafra agitation, one will be quick to ascertain that it was the political motives that brought about the call and yearn for a new nation.
At first, I believe it was the yorubas that should complain about a foul when the then NPC in the north formed an alliance with the then National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon party in the east. while the action group in the west, made up of the Yoruba people happily played the opposition role.
There is always a saying that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This I believe was the thought of some people in the north who felt that the first coup d'état led by major Kaduna Nzeogwu that cost sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and sir Ahmadu Bello their lives, had only benefitted the Igbo's because it was perceived that most of the coup plotter were Igbo. An event that ought to b checked through proper investigations and bringing the perpetrators to law was put aside under the watch of general Aguiyi Ironsi who eventually became the head of state on Jan 16, 1966 a day after the failed plot. The north in response to what they see as an "Igbo conspiracy"replied and led to the progroms in the north which resulted to the killings of thousands of igbos while millions of igbos fled to the east. It was not only the east that was ready for secession then but there were secession threats from the western region and the northern region.
A country that some people have fought for with their strength, sweat, blood, time and power to gain independence from the British colonialist was fast becoming a battle ground occupying spectators to watch as every event unfold through the actions of some of our selfish, uncommitted and callous politicians.
Every tribes suffered from the civil war; the igbos, the hausas and the yorubas with other minor tribes all have the story to tell about the civil war. The hatred grew among tribes but the truth of the matter is that we are all dependent on one another which has make this country unique. A country made up of different tribes and ethnic s, a country made up of over 1000 languages coming together as a body and our strength as a nation lies in our diversity. the teeth will bite the tongue, for that the tongue can't disown the teeth. From both sides of the war we should salute all the generals and all the gallant men that fought a fight of courage including the fallen heroes. It is hightime we put the pain of civil war behind our sentiments and give room for the injuries it brought along be healed up. it is high time we looked forward and think about a solutions that will bring Nigeria out of the crises and challenges the country is currently subjected to. Nigeria shall be great again if we work together in one accord. The government has its role to play and deliver its promises to the people. you have your part to play, I have my part to play.Let's join hand and build a better Nigeria and a country that the coming generation will be proud of.
God bless every tribes.
God bless Nigeria.

if ppl can only see beyond sentiment and selfish desire they will not call for a break up. though so many people of different tribes feel they are treated as slave in their country but instead of break up,let us all cum to a resolution.
