Any act of falsely making any document for the purposes of fraud or deception, whether the original exists or not is called forgery in criminal law i.e any spurious work that is claimed to be genuine.

He has been submitting affidavits all the while he was contesting for president, stating that his educational credentials were with the military, only for the military authority to come out and prove it was a letter from his former school principal he submitted for enlistment into the force.
