Unpaid Salary: Ajimobi’s Daughter Getting Married In Lebanon by justin04(m): 4:59am On Aug 31, 2015
The daughter of Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, will be having her white wedding in Lebanon next week. It was a grand affair when she did her introduction in London a few weeks ago, an event that was followed by an engagement party at her father’s home in Ibadan on August 21. Now for the third leg of the extravagant affair in Lebanon.
The late father of Governor Ajimobi’s wife was a famous Lebanese business man in Ibadan back in the 70s.

While Oyo State workers have not been paid in months, one wonders if this is the right time for such extravagant spending and if this is the right message to send to the masses. At the engagement party in Ibadan a couple of weeks ago, reporters were barred from covering the event.

Don't know if state funds will be used but Ajimobi declares his assets publicly when he became a governor in 2007 and the total was about N380 million. He retired from paid employment as the CEO of then National Oil before going into politics. The irony is that for a Nigerian politician, his apparent enviable financial position does not preclude him from 'stealing' the state dry. Again one is not in a position to confirm the case with Ajimobi and Oyo state funds.

Well quite tricky. Its difficult to condemn the governor in a situation like this.

Outside Politics, Mr Ajimobi is well to do and so I believe he can afford all of these personally. He worked many years in a Multinational at an Exectutive level. But how many people do we have to tell all these narratives? Who even cares in the first place? He's the Governor and an hungry man is an angry man. The Governor can't be celebrating while some citizens have not been paid.

Its also bothers on timeliness, priority and morality.

Not CEO my guy. He was one of the Directors of National Oil, a former government owned company.

No one is condemning him or accusing him of stealing Oyo state funds. The timing of such extravagant and loud wedding is however of concern when people of the state he governs are yet to be paid salaries in months.
