27 states were approved, these are just those that have received theirs. They should just list all of them, we don't want backdoor situation of eat wipe mouth and say "we didn't receive any". |

pazienza:actually 14bn for abia is a bit on the high side including the already existing 6bn the owe as their domestic debt..abia needs a focused and financial guru to really run the state if you also include the 30bn the present gov borrowed.. As for Imo I shudder to think the cummulative debt now 3 Likes |

Kaduna,Anambra,Kano,Lagos,Rivers,Crossriver,Jigawa, , Yobe and Akwaibom are the states not on the list. Why emphasizing on four states only? Also give kudos too the other states managing their resources with prudence. 4 Likes |

I hope CBN is directly in charge of the disbursement of these money for the payment of salaries, instead releasing these large chunk of money to all these greedy and thieving governors to be embezzled again. 2 Likes |

chino11:Osun, oyo and ogun leads the pack with staggering amount. ANAMBRA always absent. Why? I heard they increased their salary and already working towards increasing it again by the end of next year. I think all Nigerians governors should quickly go to Anambra governor to learn. Is it true that Anambra state has the most tarred community road in Nig. 9 Likes |

wiseoneking: True Bro. Most towns are interconnected by a network of tarred roads. Anambra is a wonder. Forget Kano , she has higher FG allocation and dubious number of LG ensures more allocation to her, Rivers and Akwa Ibom are swimming in oil money. But Anambra, she is a model state, very meagre allocation from the FG, just abundance of human resources and most importantly, competent and focused leadership. 19 Likes 1 Share |

Kudo's also to Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe n of course FCT for managing their funds well. The others shld learn from them. Now the Govt has bailed them out even though it's thru loans, there is no excuse for any of the 27 mentioned to have any salary arrears till 2019. Except in very very exceptional circumstances, Non payment of workers salaries by Gov's shld be made a criminal offence punishable with a very long jail term + life banishment for running for any kind of public office. There shld be provision for this in our constitution. This will keep them on their toes. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Imo state debts should be approaching the size of lagos debts. That state is one of the worst governed in the past 10 years. 4 Likes |

Abia state is also one big disappointment. A commercial state that should be a direct economic rival to lagos is just crawling under the the weight of consistent bad governance. Under normal circumstances, abia should be the one pulling the weight of the entire old eastern region. 3 Likes |

On a more serious note, these loans should not be spanned for up to 20yrs, 10yrs should be ok with maybe a lesser interest rate of 7% or so, and a particular amount be paid on yearly basis, and if they cannot pay, FG should make a point of duty to deduct a certain amount from their allocations per month to service the portfolios. My reasons for ^^^^.(It might not be economically wise, but. Think it will be accountability wise) All these incompetent governors that borrowed these money, might not pay the money b4 they leave office thereby making the next people to inherit their incompetency (liability). It might hinder the development of the future govt(giving them bad names). A typical example of kogi state. *you can't tell me that kogi state owes its workforce in arrears of up to N50billion. *i don't think they owe up to 15billion, now the remaining 35billion will go to capital expenditures(developments and all that) + their normal allocations from FG will always be remitted to their accounts. *now the current govt will be seen as a working governor, because, he borrowed and Is not paying back(interest inclusive). The principal and interest will be mounting and is being accumulated and shifted to the next administration which might be forced to pay back @ all cost. *when the future administration will start paying and @ the same time running the state, the achievement will not be @ par with the last administration, thereby calling the current/future an incompetent administration comparing the past that brought about the whole mess in the 1st place. *now, the corrupt is celebrated and the future is termed the evil. My eye don de pepper me, good night fellas |
