I seriously don't understand why this lip-syncing thing is even an argument, I don't see the point of it. Regardless if the artiste lip-syncs or not, I would enjoy value for my money. I came to see the artist not judge their vocal performance. However there is one other thing I paid to see - the stage presence. Too many Nigerian artistes do not have stage presence and the reason is because on regular show outings they are accustomed to performing on only one stage. This makes them hardly move about. Seeing Ne-yo make use of all five stages at the MAMAs set a record other african acts couldn't keep up with. I want promoters to build multi stage platforms our artistes can use in honing their skill to international standard. |

Sanchez01: Maybe you guys haven't seen Flavour. Am a Yoruba guy and some of his songs I might not understand but common the guy is the best live performer I've ever seen. I saw him at the GTB party in lekki last december and the guy wowed me. I fell in love with him instantly(no homo). He was arguably the best performer of the night. As in Flavour comes to the stage with a live band nothing artificial like DJ, no pre sequenced keyboard sound. Everything is fresh. From the guitar to the drums, the key board. Guy, you should try and see flavours live performance you will have a rethink about some nigerian artists. BTW Wizkid came on stage after flavour that same night trying to use a live band as well. My world, it was an absolute disaster. Had it been an outside party and not an official bank's party, am sure people would've stoned him (myself included). 5 Likes |

One has to consider the cost ,the time ,the energy of doing a life performance You need to have a band ,pay all of them, rehearse with them endlessly and perform with accuracy First ask yourself, how artists do life-recording? So how do you expect a life performance for a song that was done by computer from beginning to end? Surely there will be a distortion. Even foreign arts do same. |

Somebody said Timi is a better singer tha Asa.which year? No Timi song is better than Asa "jailer" or "Dead Again" am a big fan of timi,he grew up in a street not to far from my street in PH way back b4 he blew up. Life performance Asa still beat Timi hands down, even Timi wunt dear open his mouth to say he's better than asa. 2face Live performance his second to none. Flavour is also a very great live perfomer, sound sualtan is great to, Psuare was average in live performance(especially when dy came to carniriv in PH) Timi is cool to.Then jesse jagz is one of the very best live performer have ever seen from nigeria. 1 Like |

Sanchez01:In OLAMIDE's voice : "Everybody Na King 4 him Lane". There're loads of things to be considered when critically analysing ur own perception abt Naija musicians and their stage performances. The organizers of mostly all the shows in Nigeria have this habit of managing time therefore, reducing cost of renting the venue and i think other miscellanous which would hv incurred more. Secondly, the artist is cut up in the middle whereby he's been contracted to perform for an agreed amount and for a certain period of time which are sometimes limited. Artists like tuface and the likes are exceptionally selective with terms and conditions that would fetch them more time to do their "Live Band" stuffs! But i get ur perception bruv! No disrespect!!! NaIJA artist really got their thing which the Majority of Nigerians enjoy. |

ekenetheorg: Simply put DikeOha882: Well some people might wnt to argue femi kuti's live band but to me, his band just makes noise compared to flavour's. You will be forced to move. Ishilove: Sis don't just imagine. Try and get a GTB invite/pass for this years end of year party. Hopefully they invite him and if they don't, you have nothing to loose cos its free and always fun to go. 1 Like |

Some of them don't have a live band, u don't just wake up one morning and go for a show and expect an instrumentalists to score all ur songs both the drummer, guitarist, pianist etc...it requires series of practice, Flavour has a live band which I believe he works with time often and when he has a concert he then takes them along Only a few Nigerian artists have live band crew.. Maybe they should be sensitized on that regard....BTW most of their songs are way too fast and difficult to sing without being played by a DJ.....just my own compelling opinion 3 Likes |

Warlord3000:LOL @ imitation of Lemar .. Indeed, ASA is just so unique.. Her voice cannot be mistaken------it stands out.. Timi is also good (his coarse, rich voice) but never a match for Asa... Good music is dead in Nigeria.. We worship the club & party bangers.. Lip-synching is the in thing for our musicians, reason being, they don't see music as a passion but a means of making money.. Fees offered them to do a live stage performance shouldn't be a major problem/excuse/setback to me if truly they have a burning passion for singing, and not the other way round.. It hurts seeing auto tune do the job better than their voices .. 1 Like |

charix:If you're dying on seeing the artiste, why not hook up with him on one of his social media accounts, find out where he fields and visit the same so you could see him, or you put him in a grotto, have him wear a Santa Claus-like costume and shake hands with him I don't mean to poke but your post makes no meaning. Over #5,000 people left their homes, parted with sums to see just one person. Is the glory of the sun on his face Live performances is not to judge the voice, never. Your second paragraph is indeed saddening and disturbing. What has multiple decked stages got to do with stage movements Follow one of the links I provided and see how Jay Z and Beyonce choreographed "Young Forever" with a single stage. What would you say of Whitney Houston who does R&B/Soul or a typical Alicia Keys who doesn't leave her Grand Piano on the stage Or what do you say about Taylor Swift, though young, yet projects and beams confidence and grace as she walks to and fro the stage/aisle Decked, multiple or layered stages is solely to enhance the stage not the performance of artistes. Adele's live performance of "Someone like you" was executed beautifully with pacing. She stayed glued to her pianist till the end. Stage presence is not in gallivanting but in managing whatever platform is put before you to use. There's no correlation between a giant sized stage and leaving an impression. Please go and watch some of N'Sync's performances as well as that of Mariah Carey and ENYA. You'll know what stage performance is. Imagine Burna boy saying "Make una stand up abi na only rice una come chop?" Like seriously 1 Like |

Pasuma, K 1, Osupa will not come to a show and Lip synch. These guys will come to parties with musical instrumentsand back up singers, compose good lyrics to praise and entertain listeners, fans and audience. Not one guy, come with a CD of track with Edited vocals , lip synch and keep shouting.. later kids will come on social media to say Fuji musicians no dey sing anything. 4 Likes |

I will rather listen and watch Fuji or juju musicians perform live on stage than pay to watch hip hop artistes hopping like frogs all over the stage and repeating their songs which I already have on my phone without adding anything to its 1 Like 1 Share |
