Nigerians do not really understand the concept of free speech. You cannot just be flinging damaging, unsubstantiated allegations against somebody and then hide behind the principle of free speech. I hope an example is made of this fella so other prats with uncouth mouth will watch themselves

This should be a perfect warning to all those who open their mouth and accuse people of corruption without having facts of evidence to back up their claim.

Using social media as a ruse to spread false news can have dire and severe consequences.

Later, many will come and start screaming 'witch hunt' and 'freedom of expression' without even knowing what these two concept entail.

Bloggers often think they are immune from prosecution.
That's not to say that this blogger is guilty but be sure of your facts before going public.

This is another reason copy and paste bloggers should always share source to original content. Sorry for him though, poor boy.

did u read the story at all?
The govt said the govr isnt involved in the arrest but the state govt, abeg who controls the state govt?
Also why send police to go arrest the poor blogger? Why not institute a case against him n sue him for defamation or somethng? This aint right esp now that we r in d era of freedom of speech.

This is a step in the right direction!

Just because the use of the internet is now virtually free does not mean jobless people can sit in their bedrooms and make up all sorts of stories because they want to direct traffic to their useless blogs.

Nigerians want accountability from their leaders but refuse to do the same in their own affairs.

Just the other day, a notorious illiterate on Nairaland opened a thread falsely accusing the APC of closing his Facebook accounts. In my opinion, he should have been invited by the security agents to provide evidence of his claim.

Freedom of speech is guaranteed by the constitution but also, individuals have to account for their statements if they are false.

Now, a precedent has been set. Hungry bloggers- BEWARE!

do you have a proof that he's guilty? the guy might have curled the story from a popular blog, why not go for them but d poor blogger? Just because you are been fed by some looters doesn't mean u open ir mouth to speak thrash.. keep supporting them, u will realize your mistakes.. better grow.

Did the blogger have proof that the woman he accused was also guilty? You don't go around spreading lies like this. If he want's to be a journalist, he should investigate and do his Job properly.

You can't just get someone arrested for something like that. It's not criminal for crying out loud. The highest you can do is to sue him. #somuchfordemocrasy

[size=13pt]If the state government is truly behind this arrest.. Then the blogger is in for some deep shit. Cos he won't be able to prove his story even if there was any evidence in the first place which I doubt.
He should start talking to his lawyer fast.. cry

The blogger didn't add source... He might Probably have gotten it from one of this popular bloggers but destroyed everything by not adding the source. I knew copy and paste can ruin was why i didn't follow that trend, i prefer to post genuine topics and get genuine views than to post copied posts or lies to get traffic that will give me heart attack like that which the blogger did.

stop saying what you don't know... People will hardly notice genuine blogs, they are blindfolded by the tactics adopted by copy and paste bloggers to get large traffic through spamming and the likes and you will end up reading a single post from a million different blogs. I don't blame the bloggers that copy and paste trash because our choice of music in this country says it all. Not all bloggers are guilty, it takes time for genuine bloggers to be noticed. Don't just generalize without proof so as not to end up like that blogger.
