Hi Bro, welldone for all the hard work.

Question about the parapet, is there any reason you didnt make use of the steel parapet you discussed on your blog?

do you have any example of where this has been put to use?

I plan to use it on a smaller project this year.

I have roofed two buildings with Korean roofing tiles in the past 5 years, interestingly, they still retain their black color. Ebonyi and Owerri, AYACO roofing tiles.

Yes you can use 12mm iron rods for decking, but make sure it is according to the specifications in your building plans. There is a column in the building plan document where such details are broken down for interpretation.
Re: The Making Of A Low Budget 5 Bedroom Duplex (with Costs) by Nbg4real: 7:44pm On Feb 22, 2016
thank you. attached here is my building plan and i have started the foundation i'm at filling level i will send the picture when i visit the site. i know stop the work because i need iron rod extentiin before laying the germen floor . the sructure has 25 pillars with 16mm iron rod and now i dont have enough money can i continue with 12mm iton rod ? since i use 16mm for fondation. i mean the pillars in d first floor, second floor up to the roofing level. i cant cintinue with 16mm because of d stiuation of our economy.

Then stop until you can safely continue.

It's not a God given right to have a duplex.

You need just 34 rods of Y16 for the 25 pillars... is that too much compared to how much you have spent on your building?
For 25 pillars, you need 100 pieces (4 x 25=100) and one rod is about 39ft and can be cut into three pieces so 100/3=33.33 which translate to 34 rods... Pillars are very essential in building... even it helps in bungalow too.. but highly needed in Duplex.. so save yourself some future headache and use the recommended Y16... the cost difference between Y16 and Y12 is not that great anyway.. Top pillars help stabilize your upper floor and the blockwork.

They are trying to convince me its 432 sqm, but I have my doubts. I am going to send another person up there to measure.

Oga Spyder, I dey enjoy u oo from d beginning to where u are now.

Of a duplex building at decking stage, instead of German floor on d foundation level, 9" block beams has been made on the block paths with reinforcement (like lintels). What can be done? Can we continue building?

Thanks

The best thing to do is to let a building professional physically inspect the site and then give recommendations .
