I see nothing wrong in what the senator advocated. Nigeria is at a cross road. Nigerians must think out of the box.

Those illegal refineries are like that because they are secretly refining the product and feel insecure putting up a state of the art local refinery, which could be destroyed by law enforcement agents any time. If the FG should legalize their activities, those equipments/infrastructures will be improved upon.

"Necessity is the mother of invention"

"If the going gets tough, only the tough gets going"

The FG should consider his suggestion!
ben made no sense . That is the problem when someone talks too much eventually he will be talking more rubbish that common sense. What he should have advocated for was the establishment of mini refineries by every state in Nigeria ,so that every state in Nigeria will have a refinery although the refining capacity maybe low. This will complement those of the FG and the importers. Ben needs to start talking to sensible ppl and asking for advice before punching the typing keys. He is now a senator and he must start reasoning and talking like a sensible one .

Well, there are many ways to kill a rat. His opinion is not out of order.
Even your opinion too is not out of order but your opinion will take us to the same level of our nonperforming refineries. If FG can not handle refineries, is it states that will?. What Ben suggested is privatisation and liberalisation of the refineries to private companies and individuals. FG refineries have failed us and state refineries will follow the path of wastefulness. So, Ben's point is more solid than yours.

God bless you for this sensible response,

Nigerians keep complaining that our refineries are not working, that license are been sold out to private individuals but none is on ground but we have forgotten that part of the problem is these illegal refinery, vandalizing pipelines for the sake of their illegal activities.

individual states can auction off refinery licenses to private companies who are interested. The license fee maybe determined by the potential market of the state after all Nigeria sold GSM licenses to telecoms companies. Then each state will have its own refinery operated by private individuals or companies or it may even be a public private partnership as it is been operated in india for their subway trains

If that's how you see it, no problem. But anything Govt (at all levels) has failed us so far hence Ben's suggestion..
