A 20-year-old man has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly having s*xual intercourse with a goat. The incident reportedly occurred in Baranda forest, in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State

The Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Dutse, the State capital, remanded the suspect, Malam Kamisu Baranda in prison for two weeks.

Magistrate Auwalu Sani Balago said the suspect did not confess to committing the crime, but the court remanded him in prison to allow police make further investigations.

Apparently rationalizing his alleged action, Kamisu reportedly said the goat belonged to him, adding that he actually requested the animal to have s.ex with him before he was arrested by the village head, and handed over to the police.

According to Kamisu, that would not be his first time of having se.x with a goat, adding that he had done it a couple of times previously.

For Kamisu, ‘sleeping’ with a goat was easier for him than the hassle of persuading a woman to agree to ‘sleep’ with him. However, he regretted his action, as according to him, he did not know that it would make him opprobrium.

He said that animals satisfied his s.exual urge; that is why he is not after women in the state, just to avoid embarrassment.

He pleaded with the court to temper its justice with mercy, adding that he now knows that his action was bad both in the eyes of society and the religion of Islam.
