My question .. Are we to believe his report ..as instincts already told me that his reports won't be far from what uncle Lai has been telling us all along ..

To barcanista, any reporter can enter Sambisa if the full military cover is there .. Viviangist can enter all alone so far say gist dey grin

Any reporter indeed! Its a perception of trusting the military capability as well as having d guts to venture...not every reporter can venture into a war zone

Now that is what I call a reporter.BBC correspondent Martin Patience was pictured with Nigerian army on patrol in the combat zone in the north in a mission to access the level of progress made so far by Nigerian army in the north ahead of the December deadline earlier given by President Buhari's administration.

He was given utmost security by highly equipped soldiers in jeeps mounted both at the back and front of his convoy as he entered the insurgent zone. His reports will probably be out sooner.

This is where Nigerian reporters ought to be so as to tell the story better. NTA reporters where art thou?

Watched something similar on CNN just a couple of hours ago. That one was a CNN journalist in Sambisa forest with Nigerian troops.

From his report the Nigerian army were winning if not have won already because residents around there were interviewed and they said 2 to 6 yrs ago they could not breath or move around. Now life is gradually returning as the fishermen can now go about their biz and the traders as well.

This adds credence to Lai Mohameds statement

Few days ago, Buhari spoke with the BBC on the progress of the war. They didn't call it propaganda, rather, they sent one of their reporters to come and verify. That is what I think those who are criticizing the government should do. They should leave the comfort of their homes and go to the North East to verify the veracity of the government claim.

Lai Mohammed went there, he gave an assessment of what he saw, they called it propaganda. On Tuesday last week, Dec 22nd to be precise, an AIT reporter that was attached to the Nigerian Military was a guest of Gbenga Aruleba's Focus Nigeria on AIT. What she said was not different from what Lai Mohammed said.

I know there are many Nigerian journalists out there with the military but the lazy ones are the loudest. They feel comfortable concocting lies and posting it online. And when they are called to verify their lies otherwise packaged as news reports, they shout media clampdown. They have their allies in some jobless and hurting emergency activists that have lost their livelihood since May 29. Anybody that is disputing what is happening in the North East should travel to the place and see things for him/herself. Afterall, seeing is believing.
He was invited to help tell the story of a technically won war. Buhari is more interested in how he looks in the eyes of west

Brave journalism is common with the white. I love seeing brave journalist on war front telling the true side of a story.

Our Naija journalist will sit at one corner of his or her office and write ghost interviews and later claimed it was a mistake.

I love journalism that write the both sides of the story rather than one side only.

God bless all good journalist around the world for taking bold steps towards revealing the truth.

For those who had lost their life in these cause of action, may they continue to rest in Peace.

But sir, will a Naija journalist be given the kind of security Martin Patience is getting. The oyinbo man was just posted to Nigeria and he has started doing stunts.

Good. Until one 'rag tag group of insurgents' decide to host him without his permission.

Not true.

What about the reporter from channels that was killed by boko haram few years ago while reporting?

Was he given the same security like this white man here?

Let's not be too quick to downgrade ourselves.

Brave Journalist indeed...only a white can do this...
Bullcrap!

With all the heavy front-and-back security given him, not to mention his bulletproof vest, it's no news.

They protect him just like the Nigerian police protect the Chinese contractors. He's been escorted into the zone as would a General and you call that bravery. Why not admit that those northerners still living there are braver than the bravest because, with no protection, they still manage to live normally.

I bet they won't allow any Nigerian journalist such privileges, else we have a thousand and one mad journalist ready to dare for even worse.

My piece.

The only news you like hearing is evil report so that you can have reasons to point accusing fingers on the government,in your mind you wouldn't want BH to be truely defeated thats why you posted this comment, shame on you,BH will be defeated and Nigeria will be free. Shame on all enemies of Nigeria and you are one your thoughts and wishes will never prevail. I don't want to use harsh words on you.

typically , always defending his people even though he knows the Nigerians journalist will never work in Borno , its only the bbc and cnn that will dare go , I believe its the wages and insurance that gives then the confidence and the love for their jobs , a Nigerian journalist is not well paid to risk his life though , ..to be honest my piece

Nigerian journalists have reported from war zones for many decades (it's nothing new). Many of them have even been killed in conflicts (including the current Boko Haram insurgency).

Many of the Civil War pictures that are being shared online today were taken by the great Peter Obe, who was always at the scene of the action.

Tayo Awotunsin of The Champion and Krees Imodibie of The Guardian were abducted and killed by Charles Taylor's NPFL (the murderers were led by Colonel Putu) while covering the Liberian Civil War in 1991.

The NTA's Moni Abubakar was also very active in Liberia and Sierra Leone in the late 1990s and early 2000s (she was embedded with Nigerian troops).

Channels Television's Enenche Akogwu was killed by Boko Haram militants while covering their attack on Kano in January 2012.

Late Enenche Akogwu.

The NTA's Zakariya Isa was also murdered by Boko Haram terrorist in Maiduguri.

NTA and Silverbird journalists have been embedded with the troops many times (I have watched their reports), including just last week when the Minister of Information toured the battle field.

I remember that both NTA and Silverbird showed clips of the service chiefs at the battle front, for example, when IED experts had to travel a few metres ahead of the Chief Of Army Staff's convoy to de-mine the area.

Is there any journalist in this world that knows more about Boko Haram than Ahmad Salkida, who has interviewed the late Mohammed Yusuf, Abubakar Shekau and has even served as a mediator between the government and Boko Haram (at great risk to his life)?
