It will if you sell to those vandalizing it. For example, Tompolo or Asari will not damage their own source of income. Same thing with all the other militants leaders. GEJ that decided to give the fried fish to cats for safe keeping knew quite well than in a country like ours, that is the easiest way to guarantee the safety of the fish. Our military men only go to the creeks to collect returns from oil thieves. Imagine a vessel loaded with stolen oil moving out of Nigeria and someone somewhere will tell me security operatives know nothing about it. That is not possible! Noone will risk a whole ship to come and steal oil if that person is not sure the ship will get out. All ships have trackers and you can easily find out where it has been by just knowing the name of that ship. The trackers never go off unless they are turned off intentionally which is a sign of criminal activity. Security operatives can easily ascertain where a loaded vessel got it's crude from without even asking for documents from anyone but why do that when you can just collect up to 300k USD tax free from the captain and turn a blind eye?

Branzy:
will this stop busting of pipelines

Who are the companies and what is the resume and who constitute the managements? That is what we are interested in.

For the records, we know this is an initiative of the last administration though some are pained as to who were given the contract. In other not to repeat such, give us a background check on those given the contract to manage the pipelines

Good question. He even made it sound like cocoa was the only cash crop Nigeria exported. It was cocoa, groundnut, oil palm and rubber to name a few. The way some people think can be frightening.

If they want a lasting solution to this pipeline vandalization, they should privatize it in sections to different companies indigenous to d individual areas. These indigenous companies should SOMEHOW make yearly land charge payments to the local govts based on their profits.

If the ijaw man knows the pipeline running through his land is owned by his people & theyre profiting from it, he wont be quick to destroy it. Same goes for other areas. And the community can adequately mete out punishment to tresspassers as they deem fit.

Profit-sharing is an established and productive incentive method.

Privatization of pipeline or handing over security related issues on the pipelines to private individuals?

If privatization goes through, I don't think the government can absolve itself of the responsibility of protecting the pipelines. After all, protection of private property and lives is still the responsibility of government.

[size=14pt]Can everybody see the problem with Nigeria?

They say we all own to Oil but Only the Yoruba's own Lagos.

Why my people no go vex for this kind rubbish talk from the backside?

Thats why my people are reaching out to the Ibos.
The Ibos do not siphon our oil.
The Ibos do not claim our oil

ANother reason why we the south-south stand with the south-east.

Lets us see any scratch face in own land coming to claim our resources.

Hmmm...

Is that part of the APC manifesto.....or are they carrying on with GEJ's plans.

How does that solve the issue of foreign investment
First question: yes! Second question: GEJ hired thugs like Gianni Adams and his SS counterparts to take care of pipelines. So can't be GEJ's initiative. Kapische?

just very soon the whole of the country will be privatise. don't be surprise one morning when you woke up and you are told that your life had been privatise

You can say that again! Right about now, revenue collections in most states is being done by private companies. One day, one Alhaji will be asked to handle the whole South South, and remit the revenue to federation account. It's a matter of time.

What investor will actually buy dilapidated assets prone to damages caused by saboteurs. Nigeria Pipeline infrastructure is in a sorry state. God help Nigeria. You did not sell when it had real value. Wrong time to sell.

That's what GEJ did

That was the spirit of the deal but it was executed superficially. It wasnt privatized to companies. The communities did not benefit anything for the pipelines being there.

The govt maintained ownership and just hired a few local vigilantes to protect the pipelines on its behalf.
