@thread Although I spent a considerable amount of years in Nigeria, most of my formative years were spent outside her shores so some of my opinions are based on what I've read and recently experienced. Growing up, my parents taught me about my ethnic group and pride in my culture but they never talked about any tribe, nationality or race. I grew up seeing people as people and I thank them for that. This is probably why I might have jumped on the bandwagon screaming "inter-tribal marriage(in Nigeria) is awesome." That would've been before I came across various Nigerian sites and had certain real life experiences. Nigeria is not what I thought it was so I can't "scream" anymore. Also, I cannot tell you inter-tribal marriage is calamitous because as this thread has shown, there are people out there who are in it and seem to be having the best marriage they could have hoped for. Inter-tribal or intra-tribal. It's a choice and nobody should be condemned for the one they make. After all, we all deserve a chance at happiness. Be that as it may, we shouldn't forget that in all things, wisdom must be applied. I must say, I find it a little bit disturbing that even users well known for tribalism(subtle or not) are on this thread, supporting inter-tribal marriage. Many Nigerians are very ethnic conscious, most times, not in a good way. So, even when they claim to support inter-tribal marriage, you should know that it's still limited to certain ethnic groups. 4 Likes |

Begonia: Oh honey, I wasn't trying to be subtle. I never am when dealing with a tribalist who is also in favour of railroading my culture and says it to my face. Will it make you feel better if I say if it were a Yoruba person making these comments, I'd say the same? 3 Likes |

Onegai:Oh dear! I really do not care about your "dealings". I simply implied that the last part of your comment was quite unnecessary as that has always been discernible. As for your obviously "meant-as-an-insult" question, I've never and will never support tribalism irrespective of the ethnic group being denigrated. Don't forget, I'm not you 4 Likes 1 Share |

BellaElla: Wow we should all lose our brains and open yansh for Afonja. That will make dem respect, value and see us as equals in Lagos. I guess ur marriage is better than sleeping under the bridge in Lagos. It really is fun insulting each other tribes and pretending everyday. Opposers turned pretenders. hahahaha! Chai! I no go fit miss bad mouthing Ndi-Aboki and Ndi Ofemam-nu, wen it is called for comfortably with agreement. Not all these rabble rouser. That will sit quietly wen their sensibility is being dragged through the mud for fear of their miserable lives, in the name of inter-tribal marriage. ifyalways: Nwanne forget that thing, ur time pass. Na management u dey. Ur sister that i married and stare into her eyes every night, gives me that impression that without her brother, lover and best friend, she will not be satisfied spiritually. Our love making is spiritual, complete bonding on a brotherly level, as lovers and then as peers. U mumus sold out for material things. U are the biblical Esau that sold his birthright to jacob for a dish of pottage. Running around with kids answering Kunle whilst u answer ifunanya. Ur igbo but your children are yorubas. Total disconnect. i guess it is really a material world. It is so much fun in our marriage having a break from English atimes and speak igbo to each other. Now ur here fighting us, like we send una message. Did we ask u lot to be gold digging whores? Make una just take una time, we feel ur painment. 4 Likes |

tonychristopher:Clarion Chukwura's mother is Yoruba. Clarion's Yoruba name is Toyin. So your point does not matter in her case. She obviously favored Yoruba men as all her spouses and partners were Yoruba till this recent one. I don't think the failure of her marriage was dependent on Tribe as she is part Yoruba but more on the personalities involved. |

Re: Inter-tribal Marriages,....... How Did It Turn Out For You by waternogetememy: 10:57pm On Dec 28, 2016 |
baby124: But she dated mostly Igbo men, both the average and the rich. The yoruba men she associated with are multi-millionaires. U take it as liking yorubas? How many igbo multi-millionaires will leave a humble and virtuous girl for Tonto hand in marriage? Public Toilet or Private Toilet? Yorubas choose Public toilet whilst Igbos choose Private Toilet. It all comes down to choice in marriage. That is Y an igbo man is least likely to crash his marriage, he is very careful. I make money finish leave all the fine girls in this world and decent career women na Tonto i wan marry, my mama go cry from morning till night and continue. Beauty is not in the face but character. Fine face but public holes are not wifey. 4 Likes |

baby124: Oya make i finish the statement 4 u. "“If I keep waiting for an Igbo man, I will just end up like Genevieve Nnaji who is eternally single”." That speaks volumes. It clearly states a preference and priority that is not forth coming. y she no mention yoruba or benin or any other tribe? Mind u, she disowned that statement. Tonto is from Port Harcourt and cannot always date yoruba men. U lie too much. https://www.naij.com/11206.html Tonto Dike – “If I keep waiting for an Igbo man, I will just end up like Genevieve Nnaji who is eternally single” 1 Like |

ifyalways: BellaElla: HEY! SEE BELOW... It is always a matter of time, statistics dont lie. ALL the nollywood actress married to yorubas end up divorced and baby mamas. JUST TAKE A SAMPLE OF THE MINORITY INTER-TRIBAL MARRIAGE AND COMPARE TO THE MAJORITY MARRIAGES INVOLVING PEOPLE OF THE SAME TRIBE. DO THE MATHS. THE MINORITY INTER-TRIBAL MARRIAGE IS MORE LIKELY TO CRASH. HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES. Uche Iwuji to Juwon Lawal, divorced after baby. Monalisa Chinda to Segun Dejo Richards divorced after baby, Ngozi Nwosu, Stepnora Okere Stella damasus divorced after baby and Clarion Chukuwura used for baby by Shina Peter, used by Tunde Abiola and divorced and then Femi Odunaye and divorced. Wen did igbo women turn baby mamas biko nu? Read below and see link. https://www.nairaland.com/3569532/tonto-dike-removes-husbands-name. i dont know wen igbo women started to be baby mamas, that are left holding and raising yoruba baby for yorubas. really sad! Mind u yorubas believe that igbo produce beautiful baby, maybe this is a using arrangement. Only God knows. 1 Like |

tonychristopher: God said this because of the religion not bexagaw of tribe The moabite women who changed to the religion of the jews all married Jewish men with God's approval and some of them were ancestors of Christ e.g. Rahab, and Ruth So your argument holds NO water |
