IGP Warns Biafra Agitators Not To Carry Weapons by ijaw1stson: 1:32pm On Feb 18, 2016
Solomon Arase, the inspector general of police has issued stern warning to members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) not to carry arms.
A report credited to the group informed that they have decided to start bearing arms as a way to defend themselves against security operatives . They claimed members of their group were maltreated and killed by security operatives during protests and vowed to activate a self-defence mode.

PM News reports that in a statement issued by Olabisi Kolawole, the public relations officer of the police force, Arase warned the agitators not to bear arms.

“The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a publication credited to the Indigenous People of Biafra “to carry guns in self defence”.
“The inspector-general of Police has sternly warned members of the IPOB to reconsider their stand or face the wrath of the extant laws on bearing of firearms.”
The inspector general warned that there will be severe consequences against individuals who dared to face security operatives in their discharge of duties or make life difficult for law=abiding citizens.
He urged members of the group to channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters and anyone who oversteps his or her boundary would be dealt with.
“Members of the group should therefore note that it is an offence punishable under the criminal Law of the Federation of Nigeria for a person to have in his possession or under his control any prohibited firearms without licence or permit.”
“The IPOB are advised to be guided in respect of the above as the Police Force is poised to uphold the existing restriction over the use of firearms.”

The fulani herdsmen that carry guns an other weapons in plain sight, are they licensed to do so? Don't disturb people making peaceful demands to the point of killing or arresting them indiscriminately. They have a right to self defense and they will so defend themselves.

Mr IGP, when they bear no arms you shot at them with reckless abandon but now that they've decided to defend themselves you've become jittery issuing useless warnings. The time for peaceful resolution has elapsed.

IPOB youths should arm themselves in defence. Nobody has a monopoly of violence. You cannot continue killing peaceful protesters like chickens and not expect some sort of resistance. Iron sharpenth Iron. Violence must be met with superior violence. When a man fires at you, you return fire, be it soldiers or police.

Enough of the "peaceful" nonsense.

I believe fulani herdsmen carry AK47s, so what's the big deal.

Also Buhari has been issuing amnesties to bokoharam operatives who bear arms and actually kill people on a daily basis, so why are they very worried about IPOB bearing arms?

Could it be that Buhari and his minions are totally in control of the fulani herdsmen and bokoharam, and as such, don't have any fear of them? Of course we all know Buhari and his clique exercise absolutely no control over ipob or massob and of course will do anything to ensure they don't bear arms

Anywhere in the world where unjustifiable killings become a norm, it becomes justifiable to correct that injustice with the use of force. The Army and police are alreay killing unarmed protesters, IPOB has nothing to lose defending themselves since they will always be killed armed or unarmed. The future is pregnant and i see a confused dulllard arraigned in the hague for being addicted to spilling blood.
