BeeBeeOoh:
u dey mind those shameless set of people. Even when banks charge dem unnecessary stamp duty, they buy fuel to power their generator to charge their phone, they will still come here to Sai Baba..

I don't know someone can exchange his/her brain for Vanilla ice cream until I met Cleverly & his likes..

Very funny you want development yet you don't want to pay for it. Stamp duty is a form of tax going to government. If you don't want to pay it, quit using the banking system.
What percentage of your income do you pay as tax? In US it's around 30%, in UK it goes as high as 40%. VAT in UK is 17% plus apart from your income tax. Sales tax in Texas is 8.25% last time i checked.
Yet you want good roads everywhere, healthcare system, high speed rail, power supply. They will use leaves to pay it for abi?

New York State government with 24 million people spends $120 Billion annually to run it's system, Nigerian government with 170 million people cannot raise $30 Billion to run in a year and you expect anything near what they have in New York, are we so dull? Yet they say the tax net has to be widened, those evading will have no more hiding place and you talk of ice cream?

The rates for income tax remains maximum of 20% in Nigeria, but less than 10% pay. Is that fair on those who pay regularly? Are you living in outer space not to know there is no more free money from crude oil?

Lagos state can run itself to a large extent without receipts from federation account or oil money and they are generally commended. Now FG wants to wean us from the cycle of boom and burst of a commodity crude oil, and you feel smart by insisting on the past failed system?

The people who kept you in chains have let go yet you want to remain tied down. They left you tax free to ensure you don't disturb their looting of the little money in the federation account since you have no stake in how the money is earned, leaving the country rudderless and without development. When we start paying to support the government we won't see going to politics as a way to go and share loot and value more our opportunity to choose the right leadership, it will no longer be a musical chair of turn by turn, region by region. We will be more concerned about character and ability than religion and ethic origin of those offering to lead.

A country that should be running budget of not less than $200 Billion by African standards is struggling to find $30 Billion and some say the government should spend less by not collecting tax.
