The Kano Hisbah sharia police declared yesterday the arrest of 31 young Christian girls mostly of southern extraction in a raid of a "br0thel" in the Sabon Gari part of town.


Firstly, Sabon Garri is home to mainly Christians and southerners and for the Sharia police to carry out an illegal raid on Christian properties and arrest Christians goes against the implementation of sharia law which states categorically that sharia will only be enforced among muslims.

Secondly, the hisbah raid in Sabon Garri has shown that the Kano State govt and likewise other sharia states in the north with similar hisbah brigades are operating effectively a state police which runs contrary to the constitution which forbids states from having their own police.

Thirdly, the young girls illegally abducted by the Kano sharia police will be arraigned before a sharia judge as the hisbah can not arraign cases in front of a conventional court of law. So in retrospect Christians and non muslims are now being subject to Islamic jurisprudence.

Fourthly, we can never take the same hisbah sharia police on their words as they played a significant role in Ese Osuru's continued detention at the Emir's palace.

For all we know these may be young Christian girls not dressed in appropriate Islamic garb which then makes them declared as prost1tutes by the lice ridden hisbah police.

This is not a case of pr0stitution but one of clear abduction by the Kano state hisbah brigade.

The most suspicious aspect of the hisbah claim is that all the young girls abducted on pretense of engaging in prost1tion are teenagers.

I know morality levels have gone down the drain but I doubt there are br0thels in places like Kano populated by young teenage girls of southern extraction. Child prostitution involving both male and females is exclusive to the Muslim quarters.

The date of their abduction is also suspicious as this occurred on a Christian holiday.

The arrests I gathered occured during the day time, so this clearly shows a planned abduction and not a raid on a brothel as they claimed.

If you followed my narrative well you will understand that I meant that the hisbah police has no jurisdiction arresting Christians.

Last I checked there is no criminal code specifying appropriate dress code.

So why should hisbah go into Sabon Garri and arrest Christians girls ?

I did followed your narative and quite understood the point you were trying to stress, which is about shariah and its jurisdiction which I agree with you on.

But the issue of associating a group of girls who chose to engage in indicency act (not indicent dressing) as christians is my arguement.
