Justwise, how much do you know about tourism as a business? Have you travelled extensively for pleasure in addition to being the general go-to on travel advise?

Extensively? Not yet but is in my bucket list though I have been to few countries.

Explain more what you meant by tourism as a business...running travel/visa agency?

More as a tour operator, putting together the experience and selling it a package.
I keep thinking it's an untapped market for our peeps but I maybe I'm talking gibberish.
What places you been?

Lots of city breaks see. I think that what I think we mostly do, go cities but what about the other types of experiences you can have on a holiday, safaris, Lake holidays, camping, glamping etc
So if I started such a business, I have one potential customer in you?
I have worked in travel before (Thomson)

lol.. i'm not sure if smaller businesses will make it here in the UK in that sort of business, immigration agencies. solicitors/lawyers etc will make it.

Thomson is a big company and can afford to do package sales, discounts, pay compensation when things go wrong( You remember the case of two little kids who died on holiday packaged by Thomson?) They paid thousands to the parents not including the court cost.

Internet has also made it a lot easier for people to plan their holidays, book hotel and ticket without any agent.

Yea if you start one i will patronize you for sure..with discounts oo grin

Discount go Dey, lol.
That's where insurance comes in I guess, being abta bonded does give extra reassurance. Thing is not doing the bookings for peeps but having marketing destinations based on contacts in those places.
Still mulling it over though, thinking of specialising in south of Italy. Tailor made holidays.
Thing is Thomson sold other people's holidays, hotels etc and got commission from those sales.
Okay, I am not talking or thinking straight at the moment, been studying all day. I will try again tomorrow cry

Yes but your insurance premium will sky rocket after your first pay-out

To be honest i don't think a lot of people visit south of Italy, people tend to go to Spain and Thailand mainly.

So its a good thing that you are looking at areas people don't normally travel to, maybe with contacts there you are in for a good deal

Who cares about London or pecham...United Of America! land of opportunity and peace...no cops got time to chase you around for ur uncompleted document...people without papers can live 50+years in US if you don't commit stupid crime...to be honest when u got no proper doc better job may be hard to get...but minor jobs are so many...which are mostly security jobs...$19-30 per hour...and u work for maximum 5hours in a day...if you planning to relocate pls try US...and God will assist you.

You're bound to come in contact with the police and the type of jobs you'll get is a 10 dollar an hour one. I guess it's worth it if coming from naija.

Peckham in North London? Who wrote this joke of an article?

Maybe the writer was mixing up Peckham and Tottenham. They sound the same grin

That aside, it's a painfully badly written article.
