For your memory card, which files do you want to move, if it's apps it's impossible to do that from I think Android Kit kat.
For your contacts, go to contacts - press the left navigation button - import contacts from sim, also from Google Account to Mi account.

As suggested by someone upthere. Let him check his Apn and make sure it flat flat flat... I think his phone should work well with glo 4glte..

Of course you can use the phone even without updating, some persons are even still on miui 7 of 2015. You can settle for Redmi 4x.
