netmillionaires: Please tell me among the Nigerian players at the AFCON 2013 who won the most Man of the Match awards. That will tell you who was the best player. We saw a player we’ve only seen in patches during his time at Chelsea. Robust in a defensive role in front of the back four and imperious on the ball and in his movement, Mikel was the best midfielder on the park in every match he played. That Nigeria so fully deserved their quarterfinal win over Ivory Coast was largely down to him; that the Nigerian attackers had a platform from which to demolish Mali was largely down to him. That the centre of the park was shut to Burkina Faso’s passing was largely down to him, and Nigeria won the tournament’s showcase match because of it. There was an array of stars at the 2013 Cup of Nations, and Pitroipa was certainly among them. But Mikel was a supernova. And when he shone, the stars disappeared. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1524167-why-john-obi-mikel-should-have-been-named-afcon-mvp 2 Likes |

blueto:When you hype african footballers especially Nigerians, it gets into their... They chase after money instead of the awards, they come to camp anytime and play big boy football. The result you already know, mediocrity and inability to qualify for ordinary AFCON. |

Vanquay:ogbeni I'm a die hard man u fan but let's call a spade a spade. LA liga is the Best league. the stat says it all. LA liga clubs are more successful in Europe than other clubs. when last did the premiership produce world best? who won UCL and Europa last season? who won Europa this season and who's gonna win UCL this season? which league produced the last world best and will produce the next world best? if your answer is LA liga, then my brother u know that LA liga is the best. premiership is just more entertaining that's why it's the most watched. 1 Like |

reverendfather: And what is wrong in hyping a player who has done well? Would you rather hype a dead wood? He knows that he must strive to better his performance next season, no relaxation in the premier league. When this kid signed for Man City, the armchair analysts in Nigeria concluded his career was over even before it started. I bet he will shame his critics more and more because, his talent is real and he has good handlers. As for Mikel, you know where he is today - Chelsea. Go and check his stats at Chelsea, maybe you want him to do what you cannot do in your own profession. When you spend 10 seasons at a top club without being told to go, there is something you play for. Mikel is the second most decorated Nigerian player and he achieved all of that on-field, he is one of the most decorated in Africa. Go and match this first. 2 Likes |

Vanquay: Sorry to say! This post is senseless and has nothing to do with laliga. Deadliest striker and Man city struggled to make it to next year's EPL, and couldn't make it to ucl final. And do you know that laliga teams have been the one winning both europa and ucl for the past 3 years, not to talk of all Spanish final twice within 3 years. EPL is competitive no doubt but calling some ppl modafkers just so u can Make point like an idiot that you are is way out of hand. So tell this ihenacho, is he an english man. Cos u said smettin abt south america..lets not even go into that. 1 Like |

hustla:. Typical manutd fan...smh. How many african players have made it in Manutd? U remember Eric Djemba Djemba?Mame diouf? wat abt Manucho? Dat great Angolan talent and nations cup top scorer that moved to Manutd? what exactly happened to his career? Even Ghanian-born welbeck, how many years of his life did he waste at Manutd b4 being dumped to Arsenal, where he isn't even in d first team? Is this what u would have wished for Mikel? Even a more talented JayJay didn't achieve half of what Mikel has achieved and is still achieving at chelsea. Everyday Mikel dis,Mikel dat, have u asked urself y always Mikel? what happened to Isaac Promise,Onyekachi Apam,Taiye Taiwo, chrisanthus Macauley,Rabiu Ibrahim,Chinedu Ogbuike?U kno what happened to them?they took advices frm armchair analysts like u and ended up in d wrong clubs.Even Ahmed Musa,as talented as he is,is in d wrong club,n won't achieve much there. He is geting older n hasn't won much. Beta pray that the God that intervened in Mikel's career by driving him frm Manutd, where he would have been continuously loaned to lower leagues and eventually released of his contract, let that God that changed his story be there for u too when u are on the verge of making a big big mistake. |

toprealman: Bam!! Man, I watched that guy and he is hot. So skillful, intelligent and direct. I suspect he is not at Chelsea because of Work Permit issues but I see him breaking into Chelsea soon. A lot of Chelsea fans do not know the amount of work put into developing young players there. That is why I will continue to respect Emenalo. |
