it's overrated which why i didn't bother to go for a masters degree as originally planned, it's like a ponzi scheme where the lecturers feed off the students. imagine an hnd holder that can't implement any sort algorithm in any language?. by education here, i mean formal education within the four walls of a higher institution. |

EduRegard: I won't blame you for this post since it's not original to you @ op. However, call up a guy with dream that has no education and ask him to read what you have written. Also tell us who set your aunty up. I imagine she too is an illiterate so whoever set her up dropped out of school and pursued his dreams. Please do not let kids read this backward right up. |

Ronpet777:i guess u as an adult, was able to denote that... but what of the little child who is writing jamb nw.hw do u tink he will understand it. if he want to encourage entrepreneurship he should do it in a very understand way. the fact is that the economic is hard and even the bussiness group are not finding it easy. instead of discouraging peole agitate for a better economy that will favour both the entrepreneurs and employees 1 Like |

thesicilian: Nice reply. But there are too many Uni's in Nigeria and eventually supply of graduate is greater than the demand. The standard have been lowered and something need to be done to restore the quality. Also Nigeria Uni's are no where in the world league of Universities. Too many private universities |

of course it is overrated. nigerians only get it for status and nothing else. shyttt is outdated. in developed countries, the vast majority of their populace go to technical schools or learn on the job skills. 2 Likes 1 Share |

If you feel education is overrated , then try illiteracy and see how far you can go in life. Some people just look at education differently. |

A successful dropout entrepreneur will say "university degree is overrated. Follow your passion". A fulfilled employee will say "Make sure you graduate with at least 2.1". Which one should we follow? Get a degree with at least a 2.1. Don't forget to follow your passion. Maintain balance like one of our big bros here: Jarus. 1 Like |

Seriously, universities breeds zombie graduates now. it's always a circle and a general norm- "go to school - get a job"..... unfortunately, we only learn the formal part of education and not street education.. *bad* "We now live in a nation where doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information, religion destroys morals, and our banks destroy the economy.". -Chris Hedges |

toyetade: Yeah, we are way below standard in our educational system and something needs to be done about it. But I have to say, we don't even have enough universities yet. A stroll into any lecture hall in any university in the country during official hours will confirm that. |

The sole purpose of education isn't to get a job or make money. It goes beyond that. There are pertinent concerns, which being educated affords such as; grooming, moulding and refining an individual...arming one with the necessary "weaponry" to deal with life's intricacies that come up now and again, those in which only an educated individual can grapple and meander through. Education improves your reasoning ability. I could go on and on. Education's never overrated... Schooling might be. A wise person will fuse both. 3 Likes |

EduRegard: This kind of crap is only written by those who think education and money is synonymous. I no blame the person sha, it is what our society has turned to...money, money and money without any value. Real education enlightens the mind and sets it free from shackles of slavery. Nothing stops an educated mind from owning a successful business ventures but there us usually a shortcoming in owning a business without proper education. 1 Like 1 Share |
