I beieve most of these insecticides are organophosphate nerve poisons. The nerve poison often inhibits
cholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down acetyl choline (ACh), a neurotransmitter. With extra ACh in the
nervous system, the cockroach has muscular spasms which often result in the cockroach flipping on its back.
Without muscular coordination the cockroach cannot right itself and eventually dies in its upside down-
position... wink

I don't think the explanation requires all these scientific jargons earlier mentioned.
I've often observed this phenomenon myself and I think there's just a simple reason to it.
The cockroaches struggle viciously to stay alive and get away from the area they had been attacked.
They continue moving as long as their legs can reach the ground or an object. In the process of this struggle they get progressively weaker and weaker as the insecticides are known to prevent normal respiration.
They often flip on their backs earlier on but as long as they got the strength they are able to get right up and continue the race to stay alife.
However there comes a time when they flip to their backs and have no more strength to get right up. They could still get back to position if only their feet could hook up to any nearby object otherwise they remain and die in that position.

I found the answer to the question on the "sensing fear" very interesting as I always wondered about it.

The poison in the insecticide affect them on the belly region where their bare body is not covered by the feather. They now turn their belly up with the hope that breeze will blow off the poison off.

They are not dead! They are just wetin for the effects to wear off! If you wait long enough, for let's say 3 centuries you will be amazed at how dey will move again! They are just chilling on their backs cos it's much comfy that way.

Guy you've got it all wrong! These invertebrates don't have the complex central nervous system as higher animals! Their is no neurotransmitter or nervous system potentiating the propagation of action potentials in this organism.
Furthermore! AntiAcetylcholinesterases don't selectively pick out certain neural synapses to block! It's always all or nothing. A block will result in any of the following: fasciculations, floppyiness and paralysis not spasms or tremors.

Its alright. No, no entrance exam. Just go there with your school IT letter attached with a handwritten application letter and a photocopy of your school's ID card. And submit then to the receptionist.

This sounds like Biochemistry....I think I should make my research on this to draw necessary conclusion.
