So when things are going on well, we men would promise heaven and earth and would make you fly on cloud nine. Am not trying to label men as being evil but then, there are certain promises we make that you should know we may never be able to keep.

It could be reassuring hearing us say all these promises at the start of the relationship but that is as far as it goes.

They are merely words to make women feel good about themselves but these words do not go very far in the relationships. Some even break the promises as soon as the words leave their lips.

1. ✔ I will provide all your needs; Am I your father.

Men often say this to women to make them feel comfortable about settling down with her. Women ordinarily would not walk into poverty with their eyes opened and would prefer to date men who can provide them financial security.

As a woman, if you go into a marriage with the aim of having all your needs met, it is possible you lose the passion for that marriage as soon as the man disappoints you. Things could change for the man and he may not be as financially buoyant as he used to be. If you dwell on the promises of a man in this regard, you will be disappointed. Many men say this even though we know it is not possible. A man cannot be with you always because he has a life too. He would be busy at one point or the other trying to fix things in his life or trying to provide for the family.

Oh please! Not every man has the tenacity to withstand the temptation out there. Most men end up cheating on their partners as a result of boredom or just for the fun of it.

It would be nice for you to zero your mind when it comes to this promise, do the best you can and lay down some rules that would protect you in that union in case that happens. Remember men remain sexually active for as long as possible when women are worn out and retired from sexual activities.

When a man makes a promise like this, he means he would try doing what he could when it comes to your affairs. Do not ever think that a man would do everything for you; you should be able to do certain things for yourself too since you are not handicapped.

I hate where the society is going with this issue. It's almost becoming the norm nowadays. @italicized Temptation has been flying since marriage began to exist. Are you trying to tell me the faithful husbands are not being tempted? I would prefer if you wrote "We're human". That's a better excuse IMO.
@bolded, then also expect women to be women. While they are trying hard to keep their promises to you, there are some men who get excited running after other men’s women. If you expect your wife to be faithful, then so should you, a la Golden Rule. Forget these ideas of women not being sexual beings. They are as interested in sex as you. My litre of fuel.

your post makes a lot of sense but we have to be realistic about LIFE, and understand a few points:
- many are really honest and truthful when making such promises, and simply dont have a clue about how hard married life can become. so they really believe within their hearts that they can keep these promises, but when married life hits them full on, they have no choice but to fail.
- many people are really honest and truthful when making these promises, but then they grow up, become more mature and, as they go through that transition, they CHANGE and may have a difference perspective on life...

i dont think its wrong to come clean to your partner, as soon as you realise you cant fulfill your promises and tell them:"i thought i could but the reality is i cant" or " i am not any longer the man that made these promises".

as for the one about cheating, as much as many men fail miserably here (or cant really be honest about who they truly are), there are many men with principles who stand by that rule, whether rain or shine. there is nothing wrong with being attracted to a young sexy thang, so long as you "act right".
