DAY TEN QUIZ ANSWERS - 12th Ramadan 1437

1) Prophet of Allah who fathered al-Asbat?

Yaqub عليه السلام (al-Asbat are the his 12 sons - 12 Jewish tribes).

2) Surah of the Quran that was revealed in the company of 70,000 angels?

Surah Al-Anam

3) Sahaba of the Prophet who saw the Dajjal physically?

Tameem ad-Dari رضى الله عنه ~~ He was a Christian, saw the Dajjal, came to the Prophet in Medina and accepted Islam.

(Sahih Muslim, Book of Tribulations and Portents of the Last Hour, 149).

4) Allah lessens the punishment of Abu Lahab every Monday because he rejoiced (by freeing a slave) on the day Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم was born.

False.
This narration is not a hadith of the Prophet.
It's a dream by a relative of Abu Lahab who saw him and asked "What have you encountered" and Abu Lahab said, “I have not found any rest since I left you except that I was given to drink in this (space between his thumbs and his index finger) and that is because of my freeing of Thuwaybah.” ʿ(al-Bukhari, 5101 and Abd  al-Razzāq; 7/477 in  his  Muṣannaf)...... It was alleged that Abu Lahab freed her on the Day the Prophet was born.

That said, every Muslims knows that the dreams of someone that isn't the Prophet isn't taken as a Shariah ruling and again the dream goes against the ayah of the Quran...... Allah says.
The parable of those who disbelieve in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day, they shall not be able to get aught of what they have earned. That is the straying, far away (from the Right Path). (Surah Ibrahim, ayah 18).

5) On the Day of Resurrection, they will say;

 إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُغْنُونَ عَنَّا مِنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۚ
(Indeed, we were your followers, so can you avail us anything against the punishment of Allah)

And they will be told;

(If Allah had guided us, we would have guided you. It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape).

This is the conversation between which set of Allah's slave?

The conversation will be between the disbelievers and those that lure them to disbelief (Cc, Surah Ibrahim, ayah 21).

(They demolished their own dwellings with their own hands....) is in reference to which people?

The Jewish tribe of Bani An-Nadir

2a What are the rights of a husband

Answer
Being head of the household
"Men are in charge of women by that with which Allah has preferred some of them over others and by that which they spend from their property. So the pious women are obedient protecting in absence that which Allah has protected..." [Noble Quran 4:34]

To be obeyed in all that is not disobedience to Allah
"I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Who has the greatest right over a woman? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Her husband. I said: And who has the greatest right over a man? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: His mother." [Al-Hakim - taken from Fiqh As-Sunnah]

Marital relations
Whenever a man calls his wife for his desire, let her come to him even if she is occupied at the oven." [At-Tirmidhi - Sahih]

That the wife should not allow anyone in the house of whom he disapproves
"...And that she should not admit anyone to his house except with his permission..." [Muslim & Bukhari]

That the wife should cook for him and keep his house

To be thanked for his efforts

That the wife should not fast a voluntary fast without his permission

B.. What are the rights of a wife

Answer

The dowry
"And give women their dowries as a gift. Then, if they are pleased to give some of it to you, consume it with good health and enjoyment."
[Noble Quran 4:4]

Support
"...And upon the father is the mother's sustenance and her clothing according to what is reasonable. No person shall have a burden on him greater than he can bear..." [Noble Quran 2:233]

Kind and proper treatment
"...And consort with your wives in a goodly manner for, if you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something which Allah makes a source of abundant good." [Noble Quran 4:19]

Marital relations
"The wife of 'Uthman ibn Madh'un complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that her husband had no need for women. During the days he would fast and at night he would pray. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Am I not the best example for you to follow?" He answered: "Certainly, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then told him: "As for you, you pray during the night and you fast during the day. Certainly, your wife has a right upon you and your body has a right upon you so pray and sleep and fast and break your fast

Not to be beaten
"...And (as for) those (women) from whom you anticipate rebellion, admonish them, avoid them in the sleeping place and hit them. If they obey you, do not desire and further way to (harm) them. Surely, Allah is Knowing, Great." [Noble Quran 4:34]

Privacy

Justice between multiple wives
"And you will not be able to effect justice between the women no matter how hard you try. So do not incline [toward some] completely such that you leave [another] as if suspended. And if you reform and fear Allah, surely Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful." [Noble Quran 4:129]

To be taught her religion
"All of you are shepherds and all of you will be asked about your wards. The ruler is a shepherd and shall be asked about his wards. The man is a shepherd of his family and will be asked about his ward." [Bukhari]

Defense of her honor
This does not mean, however, that a Muslim should go overboard on this point suspecting his wife at every turn and trying to spy on her. This becomes Adh-dhann (suspicion) which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned us about in the following hadith in Bukhari and Muslim:

B.. What are the rights of a wife

1a....Juwayriyya bint al-Harith

1b.....1/5th is respectively assigned to Allah,His messenger, his near relatives, the orphans, the poor and the wayfarers according to:

Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 41:

(English - Shakir)

via iQuran

OR

And know that whatever of war-booty that you may gain, verily one-fifth (1/5th) of it is assigned to Allah, and to the Messenger, and to the near relatives [of the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)], (and also) the orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor) and the wayfarer, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our slave (Muhammad SAW) on the Day of criterion (between right and wrong), the Day when the two forces met (the battle of Badr) - And Allah is Able to do all things.

1c.....The Jewish tribe of Bani An-Nadir

2a....These rights include:

(a) The obligation of obedience. Allaah has made the man a qawwaam (protector and maintainer) of the woman by commanding, directing and taking care of her, just as guardians take care of their charges, by virtue of the physical and mental faculties that Allaah has given only to men and the financial obligations that He has enjoined upon them. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means” [al-Nisaa’ 4:34]

‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah said, narrating from Ibn ‘Abbaas: “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women” means, they are in charge of them, i.e., she should obey him in matters of obedience that Allaah has enjoined upon her, and obey him by treating his family well and taking care of his wealth. This was the view of Muqaatil, al-Saddi and al-Dahhaak.(Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 1/492)

(b) Making herself available to her husband. One of the rights that the husband has over his wife is that he should be able to enjoy her (physically). If he marries a woman and she is able to have intercourse, she is obliged to submit herself to him according to the contract, if he asks her. That is after he gives her the immediate mahr, and gives her some time – two or three days, if she asks for that – to sort herself out, because that is something that she needs, and because that is not too long and is customary.

If a wife refuses to respond to her husband’s request for intercourse, she has done something haraam and has committed a major sin, unless she has a valid shar’i excuse such as menses, obligatory fasting, sickness, etc.

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘When a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he went to sleep angry with her, the angels will curse her until morning.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3065; Muslim, 1436)

(c) Not admitting anyone whom the husband dislikes. One of the rights that the husband has over his wife is that she should not permit anyone whom he dislikes to enter his house.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It is not permitted for a woman to fast when her husband is present without his permission, or to admit anyone into his house without his permission. And whatever she spends (in charity) of his wealth without his consent, ….” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4899; Muslim, 1026)

It was narrated from Sulaymaan ibn ‘Amr ibn al-Ahwas: my father told me that he was present at the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hujjat al-Wadaa’) with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He [the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] praised and glorified Allaah, then he preached a sermon and said: “Treat women kindly, for they are prisoners and you have no other power over them than that, if they are guilty of open lewdness, then refuse to share their beds, and hit them, but not severely. But if they return to obedience, (then) do not seek means (of annoyance) against them. You have rights over your women and your women have rights over you. Your rights over your women are that they should not let anyone whom you dislike sit on your bed and they should not let anyone whom you dislike enter your house. Their rights over you are that you should feed and clothe them well.”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1163 – he said this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. Also narrated by Ibn Maajah, 1851)

It was narrated that Jaabir said: [the Prophet] (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Fear Allah concerning women! Verily you have taken them on the security of Allah, and intercourse with them has been made lawful unto you by words of Allah. You too have rights over them, and that
s of Allah. You too have rights over them, and that they should not allow anyone to sit on your bed [i.e., not let them into the house] whom you do not like. But if they do that, you can chastise them but not severely. Their rights upon you are that you should provide them with food and clothing in a fitting manner” (Narrated by Muslim, 1218)

(d) Not going out of the house except with the husband’s permission. One of the rights of the husband over his wife is that she should not go out of the house except with his permission.

The Shaafa’is and Hanbalis said: she does not have the right to visit (even) her sick father except with the permission of her husband, and he has the right to prevent her from doing that… because obedience to the husband is obligatory, and it is not permitted to neglect an obligatory action for something that is not obligatory.

(e) Discipline. The husband has the right to discipline his wife if she disobeys him in something good, not if she disobeys him in something sinful, because Allaah has enjoined disciplining women by forsaking them in bed and by hitting them, when they do not obey.

The Hanafis mentioned four situations in which a husband is permitted to discipline his wife by hitting her. These are: not adorning herself when he wants her to; not responding when he calls her to bed and she is taahirah (pure, i.e., not menstruating); not praying; and going out of the house without his permission.

The evidence that it is permissible to discipline one's wife includes the aayahs (interpretation of the meaning):

“As to those women on whose part you see ill‑conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful)” [al-Nisaa’ 4:34]

“O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones” [al-Tahreem 66:6]

Ibn Katheer said:

Qutaadah said: you should command them to obey Allaah, and forbid them to disobey Allaah; you should be in charge of them in accordance with the command of Allaah, and instruct them to follow the commands of Allaah, and help them to do so. If you see any act of disobedience towards Allaah, then stop them from doing it and rebuke them for that.

This was also the view of al-Dahhaak and Muqaatil: that the duty of the Muslim is to teach his family, including his relatives and his slaves, that which Allaah has enjoined upon them and that which He has forbidden them. (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 4/392)

(f) The wife serving her husband. There is a great deal of evidence (daleel) for this, some of which has been mentioned above.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:

She is obliged to serve her husband according to what is reasonable among people of similar standing. That varies according to circumstances: the way in which a Bedouin woman serves (her husband) will not be like the way of a town-dweller, and the way of a strong woman will not be like the way of a weak woman. (al-Fataawa al-Kubraa, 4/561)

(g) Submitting herself to him. Once the conditions of the marriage-contract have been fulfilled and it is valid, then the woman is obliged to submit herself to her husband and allow him to enjoy her (physically), because once the contract is completed, he is allowed in return to enjoy her, and the wife is entitled to the compensation which is the mahr.

(h) The wife should treat her husband in a good manner, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable” [al-Baqarah 2:228]

2b.....Financial Rights:
i. Mohr (Dowry): “And give to the women (whom you marry) their Mahr (obligatory bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) with a good heart” [al-Nisaa’ 4:4]
ii. Spending: “but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing on a reasonable basis” [al-Baqarah 2:233]
iii. Accommodation: “Lodge them (the divorced women) where you dwell, according to your means” [al-Talaaq 65:6]

Non-financial Rights:
i. Kind treatment: “and live with them honourably” [al-Nisaa’ 4:19]
ii. Not to harm one's wife
iii. Fair treatment of co-wives

Re: NAIRALAND RAMADAN QUIZ COMPETITION: SEASON 2 by Akinkunmi0777(m): 7:16pm On Jun 18, 2016
1. The first and worthiest condition
of marriage to be fulfilled by the
husband is to "keep the promise
or promises he made to the wife at
the time he married her." This is
an order of the Prophet [salla Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa
sallam, abbr. (s)] according to the hadith: "ahaqqu al-shuruti an tufu bihi ma astahlaltum bihi
min al-furuj" 2. He cannot order her to do
anything that is against religion.
The Prophet (s) said: "No
obedience is due to creatures in
disobedience of the Creator" (la ta`atan li makhluqin fi ma`siyat
al-khaliq). 3. He must exercise patience and
be prepared to listen to her advice
in every situation. The Prophet (s)
listened to the advice of his wives
in matters ranging from the
smallest to the greatest. 4. If she invites him to wake up
and perform the late night prayer,
it is praiseworthy for him to do so
and vice-versa. The Prophet (s)
prayed for such people: "May
Allah grant mercy to a man who gets up at night and prays, and
wakes up his wife, and if she
refuses, he sprinkles water in her
face; may Allah grant mercy to a
woman who gets up at night and
prays, and wakes up her husband, and if he refuses, she
sprinkles water in his face." 5. He must respect her and pay
attention to her needs so that she
will respect him and pay attention
to his. 6. He must control his passions
and act in a moderate manner
especially in the context of sexual
intercourse. Remember that Allah
has placed between you and her
"friendship and mercy" (mawadda wa rahma), not the gratification of your every
lust; and that the Prophet (s)
advised young men to marry
"because it casts down the gaze
and walls up the genitals," not in
order to stimulate sexual passions. The husband should
habitually seek refuge in Allah
before approaching his wife and
say: "O Allah, ward off the satan
from us and ward him off from
what you have bestowed upon us in the way of children" (allahumma jannibna al-
shaytana wa jannibhu ma
razaqtana). Allah has called each spouse a garment for the
other (2:187), and the purpose of
garments is decency. The Prophet
(s) further said that he who
marries for the sake of decency
and modesty (`afaf), Allah has enjoined upon Himself to help him. 7. He must never ever divulge the
secrets of the household and
those of the married couple. 8. He must strive with sincerity to
acquire her trust, and seek her
welfare in all the actions that
pertain to her. 9. He must treat her generously at
all times. The Prophet (s) said that
the best gift or charity (sadaqa) is that spent on one's wife. 10. If she works outside the
house, it is praiseworthy for the
husband to hire house help to
relieve her from too heavy a
burden. The wife's duties do not
require her to feed her child, nor even to nurse it, nor to clean nor
cook. It is the husband's duty to
provide a nursemaid, food for
older children, and servants to
clean and cook. However, if the
wife does those things out of mercy and love, it is a gift to the
husband on her part. 11. He must avoid excessive
jealousy and remember that Allah
is also jealous that he himself not
commit. The Prophet (s) said: "Do
not be excessively jealous of your
wife lest evil be hurled at her on your account" (la tukthir al- gheerata `ala ahlika fa turama
bi al-su'i min ajlik) and he said: "Allah is jealous and the believer
is jealous; and Allah's jealousy is
that the believer should not go to
that which Allah has forbidden for
him" (inna Allaha yagharu wa al- mu'minu yagharu wa
gheerat Allahi in ya'tiya al-
mu'minu ma harrama `alayhi). 12. He must protect her honor and
not place her in situations where it
is compromised or belittled. The
Prophet (s) said that Allah will not
ever let him enter Paradise who
cares little who shares his wife's privacy. This includes the
husband's brother, uncle, and
nephew, let alone non-related
friends, neighbors, and complete
strangers. 13. He must exercise patience
and forgiveness in the case of
disagreement or dispute, and not
rush to divorce. The declaration of
divorce is a grave matter indeed,
and the Prophet (s) said: "Of permitted matters the most
loathesome before Allah is
divorce" (abgh`ad al-halal `ind Allah al-talaq). In another hadith he said that divorce is so grave
that because of it Allah's throne is
made to shake. He said: "The best
intercession [i.e. intervention of a
third party] is that which brings
back together the husband and the wife." Womanizing -- divorce
for the purpose of marrying
another woman out of sexual
attraction incurs Allah's curse
according to the hadith: "Allah's
curse is on the womanizing, divorcing man" (la`ana Allahu kulla dhawwaaqin mutallaaq). Finally, even in the midst of and
after divorce, Allah has prescribed
kindness upon the man: "(After pronouncing divorce) she
must be retained in honor or
released in kindness" (2:228). For the above-mentioned reason
(i.e. to prevent the quickness of
divorce), in his time, Ibn Taymiyya
gave the ijtihad (juridical opinion)
by saying that three talaqs in one
sitting constituted only one. He did this to interdict the prevalent
custom of suddenly giving three
talaqs, which in his time was on
everyone's lips, (i.e. had become
so commonplace as to be a habit).
However the other four schools of fiqh had the opposite opinion in
this matter. 14. He must not dwell on what he
dislikes in his wife, but on what he
likes. 15. The husband is not to stay
away from his wife or keep his
wife in a state of suspense,
whether at home or abroad, for a
protracted period of time except
with her consent. Allah said: "Turn not away (from your wife) altogether, so as to
leave her hanging. If you come
to a friendly understanding
and practice self-restraint,
then Allah is Oft-Forgiving,
Merciful" (4:129). Protracted separation (6 months or more in
the Shafi`i school) without prior or
subsequent arrangement with the
wife, whether the husband is
away willingly or unwillingly (for
example due to war, imprisonment, or illness) is
sufficient grounds for her to obtain
divorce from the judge. 16. The Prophet (s) said: "Do not
beat your wife." He also said: "Do
not strike your wife in the face."
The expiation for striking one's
slave in the face is to set him or
her free on the spot, but what expiation is there for striking one's
wife? The Prophet (s) condemned
the man who beats his wife in the
day and then approaches her at
night. And to beat her to the extent
of inflicting serious injury is enough grounds for her to obtain
divorce from the judge. 17. Caring for one's wife's sexual
fulfillment is an obligation of
religion. The Prophet (s) warned
against rushing to gratify one's
pleasure and forgetting that of
one's wife. He also disliked that the husband should quickly
withdraw from his wife afterwards,
as it is a strain upon the wife. If
she asks for intercourse, he
should not refuse. Conclusion These are only some of the basic
duties of the husband in Islam.
The state of marriage is part of
one's adherence to the Sunna and
an exalted state of life indeed. In
the words of the Prophet (s), it permits one to meet Allah "pure
and cleansed" (tahiran mutahharan). One's behavior towards one's wife is the measure
of the perfection of one's belief as
the Prophet (s) said: "The most
complete of the believers in his
belief is he who perfects his
manners, and the best of you in manners are those who act best
towards their wives." Marriage
must be approached with utmost
seriousness, entered with the
purest intent, and cultivated
religiously as it does not come cheaply and it carries immense
reward. The Prophet (s) called it
"his way" (al-nikahu sunnati) and "half of religion" and he also
said: "Two rak`at (prayer-cycles)
of the married person are better
than seventy rak`at of the
unmarried." He also warned that
among the greatest of responsibilities that had been
placed upon men is that pertaining
to the treatment of their wives.
Re: NAIRALAND RAMADAN QUIZ COMPETITION: SEASON 2 by Akinkunmi0777(m): 7:20pm On Jun 18, 2016
. A wife should be as
obedient as she can to her husband. This
preserves the family and protects it from
collapsing. This is part of Islam’s organizing of
the family structure. The Prophet (peace be
upon him) was asked: ‘Which women are the best?’ he answered: “The one who pleases
him when he looks at her, obeys him when he
asks something of her, and is not disobedient
in herself or her money in what he
hates.” [Musnad Ahmad] One should note that a wife’s obedience to her
husband falls into one of four categories: 1- To ask her to do something this is
commanded by Islam, such as the five
prayers. Here the wife must obey her
husband, and she would be considered sinful
from two perspectives if she fails to obey. 2- To ask her to do something which is
beneficial to him, or to refrain from doing
something which is harmful to him, such as
things which have to do with his food or
clothes. She should obey him here unless
there is a valid excuse not to. 3- To ask her to do something which falls into
her personal affairs, such as asking her to
give him money or forbidding her from
speaking to a friend for no good reason. Here
she can obey him if she wants but she does
not have to. She should consider the benefit and harm of such obedience. 4- To order her to disobey Allah’s commands,
and here she must disobey her husband. Second duty: Not to leave the house unless
the husband permits it. She should also never
sleep outside the house unless she has
permission. Third duty: To refrain from fasting voluntarily
unless she has permission. Abu Hurayrah
reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him)
said: “It is not permissible for a woman to fast
while her husband is present unless he permits
it, nor is it permissible for her to allow anyone into the house unless he permits it.” Fourth duty: Not to let anyone into the house
unless he permits it. This is also derived from
the above-mentioned hadîth. Fifth duty: To guard his property. The Prophet
(peace be upon him) said: “The best women
who have ridden camels are those of
Quraysh. They are the most tender to a young
child and guard what their husbands
own.” [Sahîh al-Bukharî ]

B. Explain the treaty of hudaibiyyah

Treaty of Hudaibiyyah was an agreement reached between Prophet (representing Medinah) and the Quraysh tribe of Mecca in 628 C.E.

Following the persecution suffered by the prophet and his followers from other Meccans , primarily the powerful tribe of the Quraish, they were forced to flee to the city of Medina. Series of battles ensued (such as Battles of Badr, Uhud and Trench).

In 628, Muhammad (SAW) and a group of 1400 Muslims marched peacefully without arms towards Mecca, to perform Umrah, but they were denied entry into Makkah, thus, they had to camp outside Makkah and send emissary for peace treaty.

The treaty goes thus

"In your name, O God!
This is the treaty of peace between Muhammad Ibn Abdullah and Suhayl ibn Amr. They have agreed to allow their arms to rest for ten years. During this time each party shall be secure, and neither shall injure the other; no secret damage shall be inflicted, but honesty and honour shall prevail between them. Whoever in Arabia wishes to enter into a treaty or covenant with Muhammad can do so, and whoever wishes to enter into a treaty or covenant with the Quraysh can do so. And if a Qurayshite comes without the permission of his guardian to Muhammad, he shall be delivered up to the Quraysh; but if, on the other hand, one of Muhammad's people comes to the Quraysh, he shall not be delivered up to Muhammad. This year, Muhammad, with his companions, must withdraw from Mecca, but next year, he may come to Mecca and remain for three days, yet without their weapons except those of a traveller, the swords remaining in their sheaths.”

Later a crisis developed when some Quraish women accepted Islam against the wishes of their parents and husbands and sought refuge with the Muslims. The Quraish wanted such women to be returned to them. The Holy Prophet refused to return such women to the Quraish as in the meantime.

In 628, news was brought to Prophet that the Banu Al-Mustaliq were gathering together against the Muslims. Prophet decided that before the enemy could gather strength the Muslims should fall upon and break their power.
He led the campaign personally.

B. Explain the treaty of hudaibiyyah

In 628AD the Holy Prophet decided to proceed to Mecca to perform the pilgrimage. He was accompanied by companions about fourteen hundred in number. In order to convince the Quraish that the Muslims had no war-like intentions against them, the Holy Prophet decided that they would carry no arms.

When the Quraish of Mecca came to know that the Muslims were coming to Mecca they sent Khalid bin Walid and Ikramah bin Abu Jahl with two hundred horsemen to intercept the Muslims, and prevent their advance to Mecca.

After some negotiations the terms of a pact between the Muslims and the Quraish were hammered out. These terms were:
1. There was to be a truce between the Muslims and the Quraish for a period of ten years.
2. If any tribe wanted to enter into treaty with the Muslims it could do so, and whoever wished to enter a covenant with the Quraish was likewise free to do so.
3. If any one from the Quraish came to the Muslims without the permission of his guardian, he was to be returned to the Quraish. On the other hand if a Muslim sought refuge with the Quraish, he was not to be delivered to the Muslims.
4. The Muslims were to withdraw that year without performing the pilgrimage. They were free to perform the Hajj the following year when they could stay in Mecca for three days.

As the subsequent events show, this treaty proved to be beneficial for the cause of Islam. It ended the atmosphere of constant hostility and the non-believers of Makkah started coming to Madinah. Having free contacts with the believers, they got the chance to study closely the Islamic way of life. Large number of unbelievers accepted Islam after this treaty. This was the turning point for the Muslims and thus proved the victory later for Muslims.

There are two opinions amongst the scholars regarding the last Aayah to be revealed.

Some scholars are of the opinion that theAayah 281 of Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah was the last Aayah to be revealed:

281 And fear the day when ye shall be brought back to Allah. Then shall every soul be paid what it earned and none shall be dealt with unjustly.
It was revealed in medina

While majority of the scholars in Islam are of the opinion that the last Aayah of theHoly Quran was this verse in Chapter 5 Surah Maidah Aayah 3:

This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed my favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.
It was believdd to be revealed during the Farewell Pilgrimage in Mecca

The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah (Arabic: صلح الحديبية) was an important event that took place during the formation of Islam. It was a pivotal treaty between Muhammad, representing the state of Medina, and the Quraysh tribe of Mecca in March 628 (corresponding to Dhu al-Qi'dah, 6 AH).

In the sixth year, the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) announced his intent to perform `Umrah and set out with 1400 men, unarmed except for the sheathed sword normally carried by a traveller. His companions drove with them the sacrificial animals. When the Quraysh learned of this, they gathered to prevent them from reaching al-Masjid al-Haraam.
As they neared Makkah, the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) led his companions in salat al-khawf. Then, he started toward Makkah but his she-camel, al-Qaswa, sat down. They said, "She has become obstinate," but he replied,
"She has not become obstinate, but has been prevented as the elephant was prevented. By Allah, the Quraysh will not ask of me anything today which enhances the sanctity of Allah's religious rites and symbols but that I will give it to them." (Al-Bukhari)
Then he (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) shouted at his camel and she got up. He (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) returned to a well at Hudaybiyyah having little water, and pulled an arrow from his quiver, jabbing it into the well. The water flowed so abundantly that they scooped it up in their hands.

Budayl ibn Warqaa' al Khuza'i informed the Quraysh of the Prophet's (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) peaceful intent. They then sent `Urwah ibn Mas`ud(may Allah be pleased with them), who was told something similar. He also noticed how much the companions loved the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) and obeyed him; he went back and informed the Quraysh of what he had seen and heard. Then they sent a man from Bani Kinanah named al-Hulays ibn `Alqamah, and after him, Mikraz ibn Hafs. While he was talking to the Messenger of Allah(Peace and blessings of Allah upon him), Suhayl ibn `(may Allah be pleased with them) approached. The Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) said,
"Your matter has now become easy."

A peace treaty was drawn up between the two sides. If the Muslims had chosen to fight at that time they would have been victorious, but they wanted to uphold the sanctity of the Ka`bah. The treaty consisted of the following:
1. Both parties would cease hostilities for a period of ten years.
2. The parties would not interfere with the free movement of one another.
3. The Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) would return that year, but the Muslims would be permitted to enter Makkah the following year.
4. Any Muslim man coming from the Quraysh to join the Muslims would be sent back, but any man going from the Muslims to Quraysh would not be sent back.
5. Any tribes other than the Quraysh that wished to enter an alliance with Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) were free to do so, and any that wished to enter an alliance with the Quraysh were free to do so.
Results of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah
Many of the companions were opposed to this treaty and considered its clauses unfair and biased against the Muslims.

But with time they, perceived its positive results and beneficial effects. Among them were:
1. The Quraysh's acknowledgement of the Muslim state - for an agreement can only be drawn up between two equals. This had its effect on the other tribes.
2. Fear was introduced into the hearts of the polytheists and hypocrites and many of them now expected that Islam would triumph. Signs of this were apparent in its acceptance by a number of prominent Qurayshites such as Khalid ibn al-Waleed(may Allah be pleased with them)and `Amr ibn al-`Aas(may Allah be pleased with them).
3. The opportunity was increased to spread Islam and make it known to people, which led to its acceptance by many of the tribes.
4. The Muslims were no longer in danger from the Quraysh, so they could concentrate on the threat from the Jews and other hostile tribes. Thus, the battle of Khaybar took place after the treaty of Hudaybiyyah.
5. Negotiations leading to the treaty allowed the allies of Quraysh to understand the position of the Muslims and sympathize with it. When al-Hulays ibn `Alqamah saw them reciting the talbiyah for `Umrah, he returned to his associates and said, "I saw the sacrificial animals garlanded and marked, so I do not think they should be prevented from the House of Allah."
6. The treaty of Hudaybiyyah enabled the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) to prepare for the battle of Mu'tah, which was a new step in extending the call to Islam outside the Arabian Peninsula.
7. The treaty of Hudaybiyyah enabled the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) to send letters to the rulers of the Persians, Byzantines and Copts, inviting them to Islam.
8. The treaty of Hudaybiyyah led directly to the conquest of Makkah.

B. Explain the treaty of hudaibiyyah

The Treaty of Hudaibiyyah
The Muslims camped at Hudaibiyah, ten miles from Mecca. An envoy was sent to the Meccans to obtain-their permission for visiting the Ka'bah but it was rejected. Instead, the Meccans collected a force to prevent the Muslims from entering Mecca. The Quraish sent Budayl of the tribe of Khuza'ah, to tell the Prophet that he was not allowed to visit the Ka'bah. The Prophet said that he had not gone there to fight but to perform the pilgrimage.

The Muslims took a pledge on the hands of the Prophet, known as "Bay'atur-Ridhwan", to stand by him to the last. Referring to this pledge, the Qu'ran says:

"Indeed God was well pleased with the believers when they swore allegiance to thee under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquility on them and rewarded them with a near victory" (Qur'an, 48:18)

After considerable difficulty, a treaty was ultimately signed with Suhayl ibn 'Amr, Quraish's envoy, on the following terms reproduced in almost all the Arab Chronicles:

i.  The Muslims should return to Medina that year without performing the pilgrimage.

ii. They could return the next year but their stay should not exceed three days.

iii.The Muslims should not bring any arms with them except sheathed swords.

iv. There would be no war between the Quraish and the Muslims for ten years.

v. Muslims residing in Mecca would not be allowed to migrate to Medina, but if any Muslim wanted to settle in Mecca, he should not be prevented from doing so.

vi. Any idolater or Meccan Muslim migrating to Medina without the permission of his clan will be sent back to Mecca, but a Muslim of Medina going back to Mecca without permission will not be allowed to return.

vii.Any tribe in Arabia will be free to join any of the parties to the pact, and the allies also will be bound by this treaty.
