MOVEMENT for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta has given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to commence dialogue with its “Aaron Team”.

MEND also said the dialogue must involve ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

It aid this is the only way to end the bombing of oil installations and Niger Delta militancy.

The group stated this in a statement by its spokesman, Jomo Gbomo.

The online statement, however, said the dialogue must not be coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

According to it, the ONSA must not coordinate the dialogue as most of the issues surrounding the Niger Delta question were on the exclusive legislative list and the proposed dialogue was not an interrogatory session.

MEND described members of the Niger Delta Avengers as criminals who had been holding the Federal Government to ransom and forcing concessions.

It said members of the NDA also engage in militancy for their own personal aggrandizement.

MEND expressed displeasure that successive governments and the International Oil Companies operating in the crude oil and gas-rich Niger Delta had repeatedly reneged on agreements entered into with the people of the region and also owing the Niger Delta Development Commission billions of naira in withheld funds.

It said: “Government is at liberty to negotiate with arm-twisting unions and criminal groups like the NDA, so long as such negotiations are done in the national interest.

“MEND is not opposed to government’s plan to negotiate with the recalcitrant NDA through the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). Government must, however, not delude itself into thinking that negotiation with the NDA was tied to the resolution of the Niger Delta question.

“Negotiation with NDA is merely a temporary respite, as another opportunistic group is lurking in the shadows, but dialogue and resolution of the Niger Delta question will be a sustainable solution for all stakeholders.

“MEND had repeatedly reiterated that the Niger Delta struggle was beyond attacks on oil installations. In fact, destruction of oil and gas pipelines is an elementary course in guerilla warfare, which can be carried out by any militant group.”

Tompolo can shake, twist, and turn, but he will never get the legitimacy he seeks as he remains a wanted fugitive of the law.

Imagine MEND giving a condition that the criminal be included in the negotiations with the government he is running from....who do they think they're dealing with?

I believe this government has been patient and diplomatic enough.

Believe it or not, the NDA is for the interest of Niger Deltans. The Hausa/Fulani FG is just using MEND to make sure that interest is not achieved.

Which MEND are you people talking about ? Henry Okah is in a South African jail, Tompolo is relaxing in Delta state while Boyloaf, Paul Eris a.k.a Ogunboss & Africa Owei are all hirelings of the APC led FG, in fact Africa Owei has been given headship of waterways security in Bayelsa state and all these men were/are the main voices of MEND except you're trying to tell me the FG is trying to negotiate with itself through its militant arm thereby ensuring a piece of the national cake for its boys.

Ps: The secret behind the setting up of the so called Niger Delta avengers is gradually coming to light and as usual I was right on this case, it's a pity some of my misguided ND brothers and sisters thought these were genuine freedom fighters not knowing they're demons and these demons have achieved their motive. I won't say more than this

if only buhari never tempered with maritime university ban, and never chase after ex militant, and never use the word 5% and they are terrorists and i will crushed them, all this wouldn't have happen in the first place.

now we have so many militant that surface and too much problem at hand.

amechi is the cause of this whole problem as kachucku have stated, amechi should be sacked immediately he mislead buhari concerning this whole issue. amechi is the one who wake up the sleeping lions. he provoked them by turning FG against his own people. they ban maritime university and chasing ex militant up and down. amechi why? you think you can get to Jonathan by mere intimidations? now APC only has 2017 and 2018 to deliver their promise. 2019 is election period so if you ask me only 2 years is remaining.

now we have militant everywhere. this is how boko haram started when government think they can use brutality to intimidate them. but the revenge of boko haram against government we are still fighting it till today.

the Niger Delta own will be worst because they are sitting on the nations economy. buhari should keep on fighting opposing forces as he is only campaigning for PDP. just keep on.

I only pity oshiomhole for affiliating himself with ACP. in edo state majority of people don't want to hear the word APC again. this country is more divided as never before. edo state people are wise people that was why they didn't voted for buhari even with oshiomohle influence yet APC couldn't win edo presidential election. with the look of things it will be worst in edo state upcoming election.

i see PDP taking over.
