There is lot of trouble with the avionics etc

They need more time to mature and lots of debugging.

Eg TX/RX modules made of Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) are not operating as per requirements.

Indian money dried up or Indians woke up to the scam. Let Russians continue with the 25 year old airframe they think can dogfight and win all air battles. Maybe call it SU 60 whatever.
The country is not prepared for the global scale technology management and partnering required to run a complex program. They are consigned to be aircraft suppliers tp the thord world for the next two decades.
The countries we expect to gallop forward in aerospace are China, UK, India and to a lesser extent Turkey

They wanted to repeat the su30mki saga all over again.

Ind.. paid and contributed human resource and technology to development of baseline su27 into su30 and in the bargain got shiiit to show for it. While the Russians laughed all the way to the bank by churning out varients of Su30mki and selling them.

Billions of dollars of taxpayers money wasted.

The news about SU57 program coming to halt broke out after Ind.. officially confirmed it has withdrawn from the SU57 program for the time being and might join the same at a later date if things look ok for the SU57 ( polite way of saying unless u agree to our terms for equal share in profits and share of technology u won't see a dollar from us )

Lol once Bitten twice shy.

only for you to see the jet in 4 years time a fearful dragon.

don't forget that even the SU-27 also followed similar trend
it was just another technology demonstrators like Mikoyan Project 1.44/1.42 and Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut test aircrafts that were mothballed, cash strapped russia is simply unable to acquire fleets of ships, aircraft, submarines e.t.c.now its even affecting its ability to develop cutting edge technology

Ind.... r foolish aholes, no doubts about it

and IMO they wanted to see the extent of ind.... foolishness grin

Thankfully the financial crunch forced the Ind... morons to have a rethink plus the government is determined to promote made in Ind... program.

Funny thing Ind... is asking for the 250 something million dollar it had paid to the Russians long time back for the SU57 program.

Now that money will be twice the amount. And they r looking for ways to avoid paying it back.

Rumours r that money will traded for Ind... specific modifications and TOT for the S400 for back porting into Ind.. ABM . The Ind.. version of the S400 will be S450 as S500 tech and one perticular missile from S500 will be included as per request.

Let me predict this 2-3 years after S450 is delivered the locally developed Ind... ABM will come online ie both the exo atmospheric and endo atmospheric layered shield. And their sensors will comprise both the organic assets as well as the S450 assets.

So in your own opinion is the sU-57 project really canceled, dead and gone or has it been shelved to be looked at later when the technology matures.

what are the possibilities of Russia finding another startegic partner/investor to kick start the project, I mean China is throwing money at everything and everyone nowadays and nobody knows how much confidence they have in their own tech ( j-20)

new alliances and trade partnerships are being developed, Japan’s just signed its largest free agreement with the EU as a substitute for the US pulling out of the pacific trade pact.

The UK and US are going in the same direction of isolationism, all in the name of protecting jobs and domestic interest.

Many countries are racing to become indipendent of their original partners, I wonder why the U.K. decided to start a 6th gen fighter program instead of joining the Franco German effort, kind of reminds me of how France pulled out of the Eurofighter program and decided to develop the Rafale.

The whole thing has to be understood in the context of Russian ability to fund the SU57 program.

Presently they can't , their economy is under pressure due to sanctions. And developing a fighter is a costly business and setting up the production line and supply chain a bigger financial nightmare.

Lol look at the Ind.... production problems which have them totally at the backfoot. Morons.

Unless any company has a substantial civilian aviation business running along successfully to complement the military aviation development programs , they will always struggle in terms of funds and cost effectivenessin relation to successfully persuing military aviation projects.

Russians will IMO keeping on working on the SU57 ie the core technologies associated with it albeit on a low scale and especially technology which can be back ported into their su35 series plus there is the joint development of the super Su30mki.

In future we might see a 5++ gen varient of SU57 with better stealth characteristics , avionics , emission management , definitive powerplant, sensor fusion , internetworking and a host of other technologies.

As for other partners that depends on the Russians and it will be foolish to comment on that.

But AFAI think the Russians will not involve the Chinese becz if they do they r as good as finished from being a player in the aeronautical domain.

They will lose the plot for ever .

Also Russians r feeling the pressure on the Siberian sector . They r not showing it becz they can't do anything about it. Some steps they have taken but still who knows.

AFAIK Chinese j20 is in the same boat as SU57.

The Chinese r stage managing perfectly but that is their problem why bother about others problem.

The Americans scale of investment into f22 was enormous , so much so that had to cut back the production , they gave excuse of cold war ending but that was a cover story.

Look at the f35 development cost almost half a trillion dollars. Which country can match that.

UK wants to stay relevant while sliding into irrelevancy grin

I am sceptical on their 5 gen program not in terms of their capability to build one but in terms of their economic ability to fund it. Maybe they will ride on the co development programs of Turkish US etc 5 gen programs and may even get other countries to join / fund them.

The Saudis or other middle east moneybags come to mind grin they might fund them grin

The biggest danger u know posed by these increasing
western countries looking out for themselves is to

Africa Asia Latin America

Countries in these continents will become the playground , a free fall for all.

Lots of games will be played via exploitation of religious , social and economic fault lines.

Same old games but better packaged and much more efficient and harder to stop.

U wait and see

I also anticipate these games, but this time it’ll spread like wild fire, this era of spreading fake news via social media, excellent photoshopping and “video-shopping” aided by artificial intelligence is a dangerous one.

Both state and non state actors will take advantage of these new technologies.
