Even the school itself is a good ground for breeding militants.

State governors, senators, Reps, LGA chairmen, ministers, ministers for niger delta affairs, NDDC chairmen and managing directors etc. All of the above people get into office as paupers but leave as multi-billionaires while their communities they were meant to develop wallows in abject poverty.

The real question is, when will they avengers avenge these people listed above?... When would the N-Deltans open their eyes to see that the real enemies are actually within?... Or could it be that it is 'outsiders' that swallow the significantly higher funds that accrue to ND states?

Stop looking for cheap pity. Even America has slums... and Lagos, as developed as it's, has similar schools like this. Are there no model schools in the Niger Delta that floor some high-brow schools in Lagos? Niger Delta, it's time to rise up from these self pity and excuses. Some parts of Rivers and Cross Rivers, for example, compare favourably with places like VI, Lekki, Maitama, Asokoro. Stop these unnecessary pity party.

the terrain of the niger delta is very difficult to develop with the monies gotten from the govt, by the time they (governors) disburse the state allocation to the various ministries the remaining monies earmarked for these projects would not be enough. im not saying the governors do not contribute by looting the state treasuries but the fed govt should beam their searchlight in building the niger delta without sharing monies to these govrs to do so. let the fed govt via the ministries of works, health and education build up these projects. my opinion though

agreed that these governors are corrupt, but u should know that not all those monies they spend are looted monies from state allocations, most of them make their monies from royalties, bunkerring of crude products, and other illegal ways of making money from the state. my brother God will help us

I think the only reason why the ND is still the way it is is because the local leaders meant to execute the developments (state governments/LGAs/ND ministry/NDDC) squander the money. While the leaders at the local level who swallow the money, they divert the attention of the people to Abuja claiming the problem is from Abuja. Until the people learn to wake up and ask their closest leaders the right questions, they will continue to treat the wrong ailment. This isn't really an issue peculiar to the ND alone, it is the same story all across Nigeria.

Thank you. This is the best prologue of the ND issue.
There's need to redirect our attention to our closest leaders and demand for accountability. Otherwise, the selfish leaders will keep using the gullible and vulnerable ND youths as talking drums to blackmail the FG. It happened with 13% and it can happen again.

How many schools, hospitals and other social amenities did the last militants build for the poor in the area or any community with their amnesty wealth ? That guy who built that University in Benin Republic is a PR disaster for "militantism" justified on the bases of marginalization and lack of investment in the Delta. Not to mention the coincidence of an upsurge in militantism with the advent of a new and opposed regime.

...and please let these people begin to outline their philosophical and economic goals.....Maritime university is unambitious. If the people responsible were stupid enough to cancel you maritime university, how ever reasonable they deemed it privately, hit them with demands for something huge. Not a new Nation because that is stupid but grand development plans for the area. Don't forget your state government while in the process because state governments bare a large responsibility for your impoverishment.
Re: Picture Of A School In The Niger Delta (pictures) by Nobody: 12:39am On Jul 28, 2016
Don't blame the FG alone. Blame your state governors and local politicians
Despite the normal allocation, 13% derivation funds, taxes from International Oil Companies, nothing to show.

These are the cars former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan shared across shortly before the 2015 general elections. I'm sure you know how many schools these Jeeps would build.

Jona handed over the Nigerian Navy to tompolo who raked in billions, but what exactly did the people of the Delta get from him and jona? NOTHING.

Jona gave NDDC to sons of the soil, but what happened? The sons of the soil looted every kobo and left the region in ruins. Even one NDDC director spent N1 Billion on babalawo...

Delta state rakd in trillions in allocations, IGR and derivations with just 5 million people, but Delta state is the most indebted state in the history of Nigeria @ N700 Billion with nothing to show for the debt..
