Majority of those who are criticizing and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari in the first year of his first term of four years have been irrational in their opinions with unrealistic expectations of the new administration of the Nigerian government.
Many of them have been disappointed when they did not see overnight miracles of the mantra of Change presidential campaign slogan of the new ruling national political party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
But President Buhari is neither a prophet nor a pastor anointed by Almighty God to perform signs and wonders. And he is not a magician. He is only a brave human who is very patriotic enough to take up the challenge of nation building of a New Nigeria.

It is incredible to expect a new developer of a crumbling storey building to rebuild it instantly without a new master plan for the demolition and reconstruction or renovation.
This is a simple illustration of the task of President Buhari.

The worst predicament of the Nigerian government is not political corruption, but widespread intellectual ignorance caused by lack of education, because majority of Nigerians don't read, therefore they are not uniformed on the critical analysis of the Nigerian crisis and the collateral damage done to democracy and governance in Nigeria by the former national ruling political party, People's Democratic Party (PDP) that many sarcastically call "Papa Deceive Pikin", because they believe PDP deceived Nigerians.

The PDP really bedeviled Nigeria that made the United States of America to predict the collapse of the nation in 2015 following the gloomy reports of several well informed political observers, including Karl Maier who is the author of "This House Has Fallen " on Nigeria as a failed state published in 2002. But I wrote a rejoinder titled "Dear Karl Maier, This House Has Not Yet Fallen" and included in my book "In the House of Dogs" published by Amazon Books in 2011. And to draw the attention of both the leadership of the Nigerian government and citizens to the important political issues I raised, The Guardian newspaper published extracts of "The Genesis of the Crisis" from the book on the very first day of the New Year, January 1, 2012.
I don't know if it is still online on
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72378:dear-karl-maier-this-house-has-not-yet-fallen-1&catid=74:arts&Itemid=683.

Nigerian had not fallen before the 2015 presidential election, but broken and dysfunctional.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan preferred to live in denial of the realities and dance to the gallery of his political sycophants and opportunists who were greedy beneficiaries of his multimillion dollar contracts. These wolves devoured the sheep in the flock of the shepherd. He was a weak Commander -in- Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces and fooled by the Machiavellian military generals whose misappropriations of the revenue allocations for national security left the north east at the mercy of the ruthless Boko Haram insurgents who invaded and occupied several local governments, killing thousands of people and displacing millions of others from their villages whilst the former President and his generals and ministers were enjoying themselves from the Niger Delta to Abuja. And by the time they left when Mr. Jonathan was defeated in the last presidential election, Nigeria was in a horrible state, battered and plundered by terrible corrupt politicians and terrorists.
The left Nigeria in a mess.
The rot is now the burden of the new President.

President Buhari who is yet to implement his first fededral budget has to tackle the challenges of corruption, national security and providing jobs for millions of frustrated jobless Nigerians who are too impatient to wait for long term government programmes. They don't want to see change of government without quick results of short term solutions to their problems which he never caused.
You cannot write off a long distance runner even if he is struggling in the first lap of a marathon.

President Buhari is also challenged by the economic crisis caused by the crash in price of crude oil, the fuel of the Nigerian economy that was booming during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. So, he does not have surplus revenue that the Jonathan government had and wasted. President Buhari has to lead Nigeria out of depression caused by corruption and recession. This is the Herculean task of his adminstration. And by the indications of progress so far without the implementation of his first federal budget, I am sure that with the cooperation and support of all patriotic Nigerians, he will succeed to reform and transform Nigeria with exciting results that will improve his approval ratings among the majority of Nigerians in the next twelve months.

Posing for defense without brief.

OP the era of blame is long gone. A child born on the 29th of may 2015 who could walk by now is a serious concern not only to the parents but also the neighborhood. By now this govt should have put her house together.

Lack of transparency, lopsided appts, suspicions and non release of fund coupled with incompetent hands had only succeeded in stifling the economy. Until Buhari stops suspecting his Ministers and release funds to them, you will swallow your words by this time next year just as Sahara Reporters did on Aisha's visit to the US on August, 1

It seems you are living a lala land ..what has he put in place that will reap any benefit next year ..he has sown hatred and meaningless hardship through his ultra vision less leadership ..since you are dreaming let me bring you back to reality , for you info Buhari is in his second year and by next year he will be preparing for elections so tell me what we will praise next year ..People like you derailed Buhari by lying to him and made him waste my vote ..Ambode had proven himself within four months and left his legacy as a good governor in the Sands of time ..even if Buhari has 8 years he won't achieve much and it won't be his fault it's just that he doesn't have what it takes in vision .You must have a vision to achieve

Nope.

Based on on the lag time for economic policies, Nigeria might resemble Venezuela by this time next year.

Let's stop pretending that this government has any workable plans. So far, everything is trial and error. That's why they say one thing today, and then contradict themselves tomorrow.

The Nigerian ship of state is adrift in Rocky shores.

There is absolutely nothing to be optimistic about, except for time-tested resilience of the Nigerian people in the face of all odds.

Point of correction, I think U meant to say d "few surviving Nigerians". Ur likes are d hypocrites who have a problem with ppl complaining about d hard times they are facing. D truth is Nigerians have no choice but to wait and hope things get beta despite d hopelessness dat stares dem in d face. U expect ppl not to complain wen dey can hardly feed, wen d power situation has gone from epileptic to comatose, wen d economic situation in d nation is in shambles and wen nothing seems to be turning for gud and yet U sound like dey are supposed to swallow it all with a pinch of salt. If things become beta by tomorrow, have d govt done demselves or d masses a favour? Whether u want to believe it or not Nigerians are disappointed with d performance and attitude of d govt so far and have every right to feel so.

Amen!! I accept this. Buhari will succeed, this country will succeed. Not because of any damn political party but because we need it in this country. Whoever that's out there that's not happy when things start changing for the better should wallow in failure that's their business. I wish this country success so that my chances for better success is higher, so that family succeeds and those that wish this country well succeed as well. Buhari will succeed, i believe that. There are indicators pointing to that but if you refuse to see them and take advantage because your in love with some other politician, no wahala.

How you obtain power matters a lot. From what I observed, APC obtained it power through lies and deceit and also through ridiculing of it predecessor(PDP), by using Boko haram as its major weapon.

There is no way PDP won't fight back, in other words there's still going to be power tussle. And like the popular saying that when two elephant fights, it is the grass that suffers.

In my own opinion, I don't see Nigerians praising Buhari or any other president even in the next ten years.
