Any good news yet?

Sai chanji!

Meanwhile, the type of headlines you read in the news are:

*A man arrested for naming his dog Buhari
*Man steals pot of soup on fire
*A Southeast governor hospitalized after being slapped by a ghost carrying a child
*Nigerian Dream Team stranded at the airport
*Arrested Fulani Herdsmen escape from prison
*Woman gives birth while queuing at the filling station
*Trucks of foodstuffs meant for IDPs camp hijacked
*A woman exchanges her daughter for 10 cups of garri
*Nigeria replaced by South Africa as the no 1 fastest growing economy in Africa
*Outbreak of Polio hits Nigeria
*Etcetera etcetera

Such is the #change 15 million Nigerians asked for. Unfortunately though, every Nigerian living in Nigeria is bearing the brunt.

So I ask, any good news yet?

Well, Tiger Brands left Dangote Flour after years of recording losses. Within a year of their exit, Dangote brought back Dangflour to a profitability status.

Sun is leaving Federal Palace Hotel citing unrealised loss of foreign exchange bla bla.. Though it is not a public quoted firm, I can bet you after their exit, Federal Palace Hotel would bounce back.

So you see why foreign investors are skeptical?

Na by ourself we dey kill ourself!..

Don't mind them
If Buhari says Nigerians are corrupt, they say the man is demarketing Nigeria
But see the negative wishes they are invoking on Nigeria because they are out of power for the first time since 1999
Although PDP voted in a Katsina/Fulani man in 2007, suddenly it is wrong for APC to have a Katsina person/Fulani president

Anyway are new hotels being built in Nigeria - if the answer is yes, the opponents of Buhari should not join those
And I reckon people are no longer making testimonies about their good fortune in church
the 40 laptops have become 4,000

They will eat their words by the Grace of God

Oloshi guy, it is already well infact too well with us in diaspora and your curse is right back at you.

Where the hell were you lot when our survival dollar reserves were being depleted by NOI, GEJ and the saboteurs who call themselves importers?

Economic crisis don't just happen out of the blues, it builds up over years of ineptitude and in Nigerians case mindless looting. Looting your own country to buy unnecessary consumer items to impress each other......and now together you are all in Sh-it hole. We ran tu Buhari the same way we ran to the miracle pastors seeking solace from our own self inflicted injuries.

Times are hard and the nation's currency is weak against the dollars. It's hard to make sales and the money is less than 50% of its value 2 years ago.

Abel leave God out of this......prayers and the Christian God don't fix economies.

We had surplus billions of dollars which like a prodigal child we spent without caution, living well beyond our legitimate means. Throwing away hard currency thinking we are balling........well let's sit back and enjoy our economic downturn. No prayers can fix this!

I like the Tiger brands example which bounced back within a year of Dangote's intervention. Eko hotel is curiously out-performing itself even under these current economic crunch and so it Oriental hotel. I think marketing dynamics count too. Generally though, one would expect a dip in sales of luxury services. Poor Sun! Hope they get back soon.

You are correct.
During the boom they never save for this kind of economic situation.they repatriated all gains in the past years.

Let them go to where the economy is better, their second coming will face strick regulation.

It may be a good thing that they go. The hotel will remain and will be available for other investors. So many high priced hotels have sprouted up on Lagos and that may be one of the reasons why their business has slowed. People just come and invest in whatever they want with money they aquired in whatever way including government embezzlement, and they don't look at the market to see if it is saturated to the point that some old players will be forced to drop out while new comers struggle to find enough customers.
With all of the big dirty money in Nigeria being spent and invested, it makes it very difficult for more honest people to make their investments work because those who just go and steal governemnt money can continue with more stolen money and saturate a market with their investments even if it is not profitable, and do so until those dependent on honest money are foced out of business.
Nigeria is full of investments of laundered loot. Investments that dont care if profit is being generated because the only goal is to create a false image of a genuine source for streaming income that is actually coming from theft and illicit trades.
It squeezes out more honest investors and destabilizes the investment atmosphere in the economy. When thieves and illict Traders are the main players in the economy, it will make for a continually crooked market culture and make business difficult for intelligent investors. Real progress will come when intelligent people rise in the economy rather than be displaced by ignorant brutes whose only talent is banter and coruption as a means to manipulate their way over other people's money such as public funds accumulating in government coffers.

The most painful aspect is that PMB is so loyalty conscious that he has confined his search for economic help to his enclave. And his advisers are not sincere to own up to helplessness. God blessed Nigeria with diverse experts that can steer us out of the wood. May PMB and the Jagaban accept to invite and use them to excel.

I feel for the Nigerians that will loose their jobs because of this pull out.PMB only wasted tax payer's money traveling all over the world, woeing investors, without taking care of the existing ones.No good thinking investor can possibly move to the country.

Hedonistically:

Don't be so myopic and shallow. Did you see where it was stated that the EFCC detained 5 employees of the company and confiscated their passports for several months even without any concrete charges or evidence of guilt? Does that make any sense to you? What signal do you think such primitive action and arbitrary lawlessness would send to current and potential foreign investors?

If your mental faculties permit, what do you reckon this shabby state of affairs portends for our already comatose economy in the future - in terms of the big picture? THINK.
I dey tell you. Some people just don't think and when the naira keeps going southwards due to lack of inflows from foreign investors them go say na GEJ. If they put that story in their Financials that the whole world can read.. I wonder who would want to come to do business here... Not as if we have local investors with Hugh financial warchest.

It has always been this bad. Since independence in fact. The only reason you notice it now is because of the drop in oil revenue. If oil proceeds were still the same, everybody would still be living an illusion. I don't think you all realise the quagmire you are in yet. In the just concluded world conference on climate change, all countries have agreed to stop using crude oil based products to power cars, machinery, etc in 50 years. You guys are phucked in another half century.

n some1 is still spending billions looking for crude in d North? dd Nigeria av delegation in d said conference?
