Doctors make mistakes all over the world. If not, Stella Obasanjo would still be alive. If not, Joan Rivers of fashion police would still be alive. If not, Michael Jackson would not have died in the care of Dr. Conrad Murray in 2009. This is not a Nigerian doctor thing.
If at all there is anybody to be blamed for most avoidable deaths in the Nigerian health system, it's the government and it's health administrators, not usually practising clinicians. I rest my case.

Well said.

May his soul Rest-In-Peace. Above quote is a very reckless statement I have seen in decades. Although, there is need to confirm or refute the allegation of wrong drug prescription, it is incredible to be trapped in fallacy of hasty generalisation by saying that speaking up against perceived misdemeanor of medical personnel relates to unsuccessful attempt to become a medical expert by profession. It is equally laughable to cite the outcomes of research as a basis for this conclusion. What is population of the research? Is the sample a representative of the population? Does the research comply with the law of statistical inertia? What is level of confidence and degree of freedom? There is no need to engage in corporate defence of any profession. Individual practitioner should be grounded in their professional calling, be ethical in practice and be ready to be vicariously liable for professional misconduct.

It seems his body reacted harshly to one particular medication.

It seems you are ignorant of what nurses do. You were qiuck to point out that Pharmacist was not mentioned but you violated the same principle by bringing in nurses. This shows your retard way of thinking. which of the profession do you belong to? Have you really taken time to confirm the cause of death. RIP TO CHINEDU
jlinkd78:
Didn't see where Pharmacist was mentioned in DAT writeup. Most Hospitals in a bid to cut costs just engage the services of nurses who barely know about drug interactions to dispense medications and in d process avoidable deaths end up taking lives. Rest in Peace.

Research shows that people who are always happy to bash medical personnel, even without adequate information, are usually those who have tried unsuccessfully to become medical personnel in the past.
what do dey use their own Google to to do? Upon say em school from abroad. Before I introduce any strange drugs to my body, I always ask for Google permission. Pls learn that from me if u are not use to it.

This may sound hateful, but I have no sympathy for Stella. This is simply your own share of the near collapsed country you and your kind have left us with!

Fix roads, una no go gree!
Fix hospitals, no way!
Fix education, not on your agenda!

Oye, use your money to wake up the dead boy na!

My aunt died three years ago due to the careless professional negligence of the doctors in private hospital in Abuja.I hate no one but certain I will criticize any profession in Nigeria that does not meet the expectations as required. This country consistently churns out mediocres in the name of medical practitioners and also bring in less qualified doctors from turkey and India in the name of expatriates. Dont take it that I hate anyone but that I have had my fair share of experience from less qualified doctors in the Turkish and indian hospitals who cannot diagnose simple stomach ulcers but would rather indulge you to pay outrageous amount of money.BTW loma Linda is one of the best hospital's in the world, that is where all American presidents receive medical treatment. From your speech you sound like a bitter medical doctor trying to defend his profession. My criticism was never at you but at person who never take there jobs seriously. We all know how this country is...

You are quite interesting as a person and have an interesting way of looking at things, I will like to know you personall to gain first-hand access to the stark raving delusion you spew and call knowledge!!!..

STELLA ODUAH'S son gets ill... This is the Stella Oduah, FORMER MINISTER OF AVIATION....
Let that sink in for a few seconds......

Her.son gets ill and STELLA ODUAH engages the service of a substandard "Nigerian" hospital?

Dude.... You are beyond intellectual redemption.

There is NOTHING you want to explain.

The "PHARMACIST" administered the wrong medication AFTER THE DOCTOR PRESCRIBED IT.
. and son died...plain and simple....
When we have party goers and frat boys running around university labs taping porn and doing all sorts of things instead of studying and parents buying certificates and grades and teachers produced by the same damn system why won't people be administering drugs without confirming illness

Dont bother replying I wont read it!
I am sure you don't live in Nigeria because if you do, you would have known that most of those hospitals don't employ qualified pharmacists to correct medication errors from the doctors whose shallow knowledge of pharmacology are barely enough to deliver quality medicare. How I wish we will begin to conduct autopsies on every dead Nigerian, it's only then we will get the true picture of how Nigerians are sent to their untimely graves due to medication errors by doctors and nurses. I lost 2 people due to such errors so I know better.
