* * * * * * * * *

As the day went by, Brenda’s psychological state continued to worsen. She could not really concentrate on anything through out the day and she was sure that everybody at her new work place could sense that something was troubling her.
One of the staff was taking the new workers around their work environment and explaining to them how the various department functioned and their relationship with other.
After the tour, Brenda decided to stick around till evening before going back home. She didn’t want to stay alone, although staying around her work place did not do much in making her not think about the death of her two ex-lovers.
Somehow, she found herself not making do much effort to forget about Derek and Benjamin. How could two people she had once given her heart to die mysteriously juts like that within two days? It seemed like there was a heavy burden on her head, a burden of guilt.
She knew that she had at one time in her life wished that something bad happens to the two of them but that was for toying with her heart. She had never wished them death. Or had she wished them such evil without knowing it? Ok, maybe she had, but she had never meant it.
Now they were both dead.
She felt like an employer of death and the feeling wasn’t welcomed at all. It wasn’t pleasant knowing that something as dreadful as death was working in your favour. Of course if death wasn’t working for her, then why had it killed Derek and Benjamin who had both once hurt her before? She felt scared.
But, maybe these deaths were just a mere coincidence; she tried to console herself with this thought. Yet, that did not resolve the fact that they were both actually dead.
She felt she was missing something. Perhaps these deaths were not just coincidence. Then she remembered Adam and shivered. Was he also in danger? Oh, forget about it, she told herself, nothing was going to happen to anybody.
Then the though of Cain came flooding in. Could this be Cain’s handwork? She had not spoken to him since their last encounter in Michael’s presence. Perhaps she should talk to him and let him know what was happening. She decided to stop by any cafe tomorrow morning and have a little chat with him after work.
Brenda got home around four thirty pm. She felt very exhausted and decided to forget about Adam and Derek for now. Enough of that for the day.
She had barely taken off her shoes when she heard someone knocking. It obviously wasn’t Jane. She quickly went to check on who was at the door. She peeped through the window and saw a police vehicle parked in front of the house. Without giving this much thought, she opened the door. She could tell that the three men standing in at the door were cops even though they were on mufti.
“Good evening sirs, how may I help you please?” she politely inquired. She didn’t like the way the thick, chubby policeman who was obviously their leader, was starring at her. He made he feel emotionally Unclad. Are they here because of the Derek? Was she a suspect?
“Good evening madam.” Inspector Jack greeted and reached for his badge, “We are policemen and would like to speak with Miss Brenda Davison.”
“I am the one, sir”
Inspector Jack couldn’t believe it. Nothing about this girl described her as a murderer. He didn’t know what he was expecting to see, but he sure wasn’t expecting to see such a polite and gentle lady who looked so innocent. “Alright, I am inspector Jack, Officer Daniel and Kennedy” He said as he pointed towards the two younger officers. Can you please spare us a little bit of your time? We would like to have a chat with you.”
“I hope there is no problem.”
“Nothing serious yet.”
“Alright.” She opened the door wider, “Come in.” She allowed them in. She stared inquisitively at the inspector as they made themselves comfortable.
Inspector Jack began, “Do you know Mr. Benjamin Frost?”
“Yes,” She answered briefly, wondering what they wanted.
“What of Mr. Derek Hunter?”
“Yes, and I also know they both were both mysteriously murdered recently.” She answered in a gentle but penetrating voice.
The police officers didn’t expect such a reply from her.
Inspector Jack wondered if Brenda was capable of hurting even a fly. But looks could be deceptive he warned himself. Why would anyone want to break her heart?
“I guess you have been listening to the media.” Or perhaps you even knew they were dead even before the press, he thought to himself. “Can you please to me the kind of relationship you had with them?”
“What is this all about inspector? Why am I being interrogated? You think I am a suspect? You think I killed Derek and Benjamin?”
“Right now, we are just carrying out investigations and we don’t think anything Miss Davison. We are interviewing everybody who used to know the deceased persons. The deaths are mysterious, we are hoping that we could get from their friends information that could help us solve this misery.”
“Alright, I used to date them.”
“How long did your relationship with each of them last?”
“I dated Benjamin for eight months and dated Derek for thirteen months or so.”
“Did you date anybody else between Benjamin and Derek?” Jacks probed
“No”
“What happened? I mean can you explain to me what led to the two break ups?”
Brenda carefully explained to the officers what happened between her two dead ex-lovers. Surprisingly it didn’t hurt her like it used to whenever she talked about it. Perhaps it was because they were no more.
“What did you do after both break ups,” Inspector Jack asked, already having a feeling of sympathy for poor Brenda. She must have really loved her ex-lovers and that was a good motive for murder.
“I didn’t do anything. I tried my best to win back Derek’s love but all my efforts were fruitless.”
“When last did you see either of them?”
“I have not set my eyes on either of them, I avoided them, but information about them kept coming to me. I was very much aware that Benjamin left Lupe to relocate in Cape City, I was also away that Derek got promoted after his training.”
“How do you feel knowing that your two ex-lovers died mysteriously in two days?”
“God! Its shocking Inspector, it is very traumatic. I have been really disturbed all day, especially since I heard the news about Derek this morning. They were people I loved you know? Good moments never die easily. Do you know that I just got a new job? And instead of celebrating my new job, I am here grieving over my dead ex-lovers.”
Inspector Jack believed her. Perhaps this was just a coincidence. “Are you dating anyone at present?”
“I am not dating anyone at the moment. Although someone is showing interest in me, I am hoping it works out.” She remembered Cain, was Cain her lover?
“Are you trying to tell me that you have not dated anyone since you broke up with Derek?”Jack asked and was quick to notice pain in her eyes.
“I am sorry inspector; you are not here to ask about my personal life are you? I have noted that you have barely asked me what know about the deceased.”
“Yes Miss Brenda. And I am sorry for the way the interrogation is going. But for now, you are the only person who is connected to the two dead men, both of them hurt you. You are really of serious interest to us and I will be grateful you can let me know more about your personal life.”
After a brief silence Brenda said, “I just got off another heartbreak some weeks ago. I have been dating Adam since I broke up with Derek, and all of a sudden he didn’t want me again. I am confused officer; do you think something about me is killing them?”
Surprisingly Inspector Jack felt a sudden urge to hold and protect her like he would do to a daughter. But he told himself that he wouldn’t allow sympathy becloud his judgment. He looked at his fellow policemen who have decided to remain silent while he interrogated her. The interrogation was getting interesting. There must be something about this girl that is making these men leave her. “Can you tell me what happened between you and Adam? I am really sorry for prying into your private life.”
“It is okay, I understand.” Again she briefly told them about Adam and a little about Michael.”
“Men can be strange Miss Brenda, I believe you are meeting the wrong set of men, trust me there are nice guys out there.” He was thinking, three heart breaks, and two deaths. “Can I please have Adam’s address please.”
“I promise you, inspector, that I don’t know about these deaths, they have nothing to do with me, stop looking at the wrong place. Investigating me is sure just a waste of time. But I will give you his address, and please if you see him, help me find out why he actually left me, I really need to know this.” She stood up entered the room and came out with a piece of paper. She handed it to inspector Jack.
There was nothing in the house that suggested that she was involved with anything diabolic. “You don’t stay here alone, do you?” Jack asked as he stood up and motioned to his boys that they should leave.
“No, I stay here with a friend; she is not yet back from work.”
“Where does she work?”
Brenda knew they also intend to interview Jane, “Her name is Jane and she works with Wintel Trust Bank Lupe.”
“Thank you for your cooperation Miss Davison, we will get back to you if the need arises.” Inspector Jack said. They were already at the door. He planned to go straight to Adam’s house from here. If Brenda’s angle was a dead end, he must make sure he exhausts it today so that he can concentrate on finding new leads.
She stood at the door and watched them drive away. She went back into the living room and sat down. She couldn’t wait for Jane to come back; she needed her company more than anything right now.
Jane came back ten minutes later and without wasting much time, Brenda told her everything that had happened in her absence.
Jane was silent and confused for some minutes. Then she said, “The fact that the policemen think you should be thoroughly investigated means that we shouldn’t take this matter lightly.”
“So what do you suggest?” Brenda asked.
“I have been thinking all day about the mysterious death of Benjamin and Derek. And the more I think about it, the more I get confused, but finally I find myself concluding that this might have something to do with your mysterious friend Cain.”
“What about Cain?”
“I have been trying to put things together. I mean---, since you started having this strange chat with him, you started having weird feelings. I know I didn’t believe in his existence but he is the only mysterious thing that had happened to you lately and these deaths are mysterious also.”
“I still don’t understand what you are talking about.” Brenda said, not sure if she was comfortable with what Jane was suggesting.
“Let’s start with his name, Cain. Wasn’t Cain the first murderer in the bible? Now these strange killings, remember that he told you that all those who break your heart must pay for it?”
Brenda was silent for a while, and then she said, “I have also thought alone this line. I didn’t want to mention it because you doubted the story. I have already decided to chat with him tomorrow. But the reason why I doubted it the first time you mentioned it was because Cain never mentioned anything about killing any of my past lovers.”
“Yes he might not have said he would kill anyone, but for now he seems the only explanation for the killing. Don’t you see? Strange guy on the internet, strange killings.” Jane said, “Even though I don’t like the idea of you chatting with him, I believe that it is necessary that you ask him if he knows what is going on.”
Brenda looked so sad and confused.
Jane walked over and gave her a hug, “Don’t wear that look on your face.”
“I feel so guilty, if he is the one I will never forgive myself.”
“Don’t say that. None of these happenings are your fault. Let’s just hope that these deaths will stop and everything will come back to normalcy.”
“I hope so Jane. All I want is a normal life. I have never asked for anyone to die, I don’t know what’s happening.”
“It’s okay Brenda. Nobody is blaming you.”

Hmmn, that's true. She's beautiful, she's good-natured and sweet. So why so much heartbreak? Is there something about this Brenda that you haven't told us, frank 3.16? I can't wait to see this story to the end!
Re: The Cyber Lover by frank3.16: 9:00am On Nov 11, 2009
i once gave a lady friend one of my novels to read, it was titled "Tenth Generation" (Unpublished). After reading she said that the novel was filled with so much sadness and gloom.

i didnt notice this untill she said it. Suddenly and am writing this one and i remember her words. and i am asking myself ,what is it about me that makes me write sad stories? perhaps i belive that sadness is a reality that we must accept, it comes to us all weather we are rich, poor, tall, short, ugly or beautiful.

naturally, i love watching extremely horror movies, and reading horror novels, thats why i love steven kings.

@all my readers, please dont let the sadness in this story weight u down andmake u not want to finnish the story. I started with love, i will end it with love. And enuf of the sadness (God! what is wrong with me). Lets make it a little tense.

@Maedan, is something wrong with Brenda?. The right question should be: is something wrong with the world?
Re: The Cyber Lover by frank3.16: 3:45pm On Nov 11, 2009
“What do you guys think?” Inspector Jack asked Daniel and Kennedy. They were driving towards Adam’s home.
Officer Kennedy spoke up, “Something seems to be going on. I strongly feel that she is connected to the murders somehow but she either knows about it or doesn’t.”
“Let look at it like this; she gets jilted by a third lover two weeks ago following the first two heartbreaks. Then suddenly the first two are mysteriously murdered right after the third heartbreak. She might be vindictive. As gentle as she looks, she might have involved herself with something diabolical to help her avenge those who had hurt her or somebody who cares for her could be avenging for her even without her knowledge, because she looks clean to me. Let’s not forget that the murders stated right after the third heartbreak.” Jack explained.
“Do you think that Adam’s life might be in danger?” Officer Daniel asked.
“Do you?” Inspector Jack returned the question, but to both officers.
“We can’t be so sure until we interview Adam and establish the fact that both men actually died because they hurt her.” Officer Kennedy answered.
They got to Stream Street and pulled over in front of Adam’s house. Inspector Jack prayed silently that Adam should be at home. He looked at his wrist watch; it was four minutes past six pm.
They pressed the door bell and waited. After some seconds the door opened and they were faced with a tall handsome gentle man. Brenda sure knows how to select the best looking men in town, Inspector jack thought.
Adam had a surprised look on his face. “Good evening gently men. How may I help you?”
“I am Inspector Jack.” He flashed his police badge. “Can you spare us a little of your time? We would like to have a little chat with you.”
“Are you sure it is me you want to chat with?”
“Adams Walter, right?”
“Yes, but I don’t think I have any reason to be interrogated by the police. At least nothing I am aware of.” Adam said, not willing to let them in.
“That is alright. We just need your help in an investigation; we will fill you in if you let us in.” Jack said.
“Alright, come.” He let them in.
The three police men entered into the living room. They couldn’t help but admire his taste of furniture. The arrangement of everything in the living room was very appealing to the eyes.
They sat down and made themselves comfortable.
Adam was definitely having a nice time, either all alone or with a lady in the bedroom room, Kennedy thought. He sure looked like he was being bothered.
“So what’s this all about?” Adam asked, trying to impress that cops with his confidence. He knew very well that self confidence mattered a lot when dealing with the cops weather one was guilty or not.
As usual, Daniel and Kennedy kept mute while Inspector Jack leads the interrogation. “Have you heard about the mysterious murder of Mr. Derek? He was a senior staff of Zenith Oil Company.”
“Yes I have, but I don’t see how that concerns me.” Adam replied.
Inspector Jack was patient. “There was a similar murder of Mr. Benjamin in Cape City two days before the murder of Mr. Derek.”
“I think I heard something like that also.” Adam answered wondering what this was all about.
“Are you aware that both deceased once dated Miss Brenda Davis? They both also broke her heart.” Inspector Jack noticed a look of recognition of Adam’s face at the mention of Brenda’s name. “I guess you know who Brenda Davison is.”
Adam suddenly became uncomfortable, “I know her very well, but we are no more dating.”
“I am very much aware of that,” Jack said. “We are trying to find out who killed these two men. The murders are beyond human explanation. We can’t come up with a logical explanation as to why or even how they were killed. All we know for now is that they both once dated and hurt Miss Brenda Davis. I don’t mean to scare you as we are not even sure if she has anything to with the murders. But perhaps we can start by you telling us all you know about her and all that really happened between you two while you dated.”
“Emm--- officer--- do you think I am in any sort of danger?” His face displayed nothing but fear.
“Why don’t you help us establish that? What ever you tell us will help us determine if you are in danger of not.” Jack replied, working on his fear.
Adam told them all about he knew about Brenda and their relationship, leaving nothing out.
From his story, there was nothing strange or sinister about her. Inspector Jack wasn’t sure if this was good news or bad news.
“So why really did you break up with her?” Jack probed.
“No good reason. You know the man thing. I got fed up and thought I needed a new lady in my life. I was just getting bored that’s all. Besides I found myself a new girl who created a whole new excitement within me and that was what I wanted, so I left her for the new girl.”
“Are you sure that you are not leaving out something? From what you have just said, she sounds like the type of girl every man would desire. You just can’t tell me you left her just like that knowing that she didn’t deserve such treatment.”
“But I did” Adam said without any feeling of remorse.
“Take your time to recall your time with her, Mr. Adam. Something you couldn’t understand must have made you leave her,” Jack insisted.
“I don’t know what else you want me to say. Every other man could have done the same thing. She is not the first girl in my life that I have gotten fed up with despite them being everyman’s desire.”
“Didn’t you love her when you were dating her?” Inspector Jack asked baffled at Adam’s indifference.
“I loved her, but it faded as the relationship went by”
Inspector Jack sat back and Officer Kennedy saw this as an opportunity to ask his own questions. “Did she tell you about her past broken relationships while you dated?”
“Yes, she did, at the beginning of the relationship. I really felt for her and promised to be good. But you know, when a man is fed up, there is nothing you can do about it.”
“And you are very certain that there was nothing strange about her? You didn’t suspect that she belonged to any mysterious group or kept bad companies or behaved strangely at times?” Officer Daniel asked.
“There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. Do you think she must have killed those two?”
“We don’t know for now. We were actually hoping that you would tell us something that could help us draw reasonable conclusions. But we can’t say that the two murders are related. It could be mere coincidence.” Jack said sounding very disappointed.
“All the same, I still think I will need police protection, you never can tell. I wouldn’t like us to take chances, I don’t want to die.” Adam pleaded.
“It’s alright. I will see to it that you are guarded. I will ensure the cops start watching your home in the next thirty minutes. But honestly, you have no need to be scared as long as you are sure that Brenda Davis is harmless.” Inspector Jack said. He stood up and the others did the same. “This is my number, call me if you remember anything.” They left Adam’s home.
“I guess this is another dead end.” He said once they had gotten into the police vehicle, he felt more frustrated.
“Yes. Adam couldn’t provide any information that could implicate Brenda, besides she doesn’t look to me like the type that is capable of hurting anybody, she is just a victim of these men’s irresponsibility.” Officer Daniel said.
“Well, enough for the day. Let’s go home and relax. While we are not totally forgoing this option, we must start afresh tomorrow to check for other leads that could help us resolve this case.” Jack said.
He picked up his cell phone and gave instruction that two men should be assigned to guard Adam’s house starting from the evening, for the next one week.
Re: The Cyber Lover by frank3.16: 7:24pm On Nov 11, 2009
CHAPTER TEN

Adam woke up late the next morning because he had slept very late. The visit by the policemen had scared the sleep out of his eyes. A larger part of his night was used in thinking of the possibility of having death close by and that had really made him uncomfortable.
He had heard about the gruesome murder of Mr. Derek from a friend earlier in the day and the possibility of dying like that was really scary.
The arrival of the cops that were assigned to watch over his house did not help calm down his nerves. It wasn’t even easy for him to sleep with the knowledge that cops were outside watching out for somebody who might come to murder him. Fear persisted, no matter how hard he tried to calm himself.
But why was he even afraid? Brenda wasn’t capable of hurting anyone. She wasn’t even capable of nursing that idea.
But he could recall that she was really hurt the last time he saw her, she had sounded so hurt that she hadn’t beg him much like other girl would do. Perhaps his action had pushed her to the edge and she had decided to involve herself with something diabolical.
Diabolical? If the death were described as being effected through diabolical means, then what was the use of the cops outside? Terror gripped him even more.
But Brenda was clean. Why was he making himself get scared for nothing? Wasn’t she the same Brenda he had been with just a few weeks ago?
What had she done? Why had these two men died such a strange death? How can he be sure that these deaths were a mere coincidence? If the police couldn’t explain how these two died, perhaps his own death will be mysterious also.
Oh stop it! He told himself.
He allowed himself to remember Brenda’s good nature. She had been a very wonderful lover and he had been mean to her. In fact, Brenda was the best girl he had ever dated. Even his present girl, Tracy, cannot be compared to Brenda. Why did he leave her? She didn’t deserve it. Perhaps he will call her in the morning and see if he could settle issues with her.
Doing away with Brenda was like throwing away a box of Gold. He must have been very silly for taking such an action.
Now he was not only stuck with troublesome Tracy but also with the though of death!
He stood up from the bed and prayed a short prayer that God should not allow whatever it was that killed Derek and Benjamin to get at him. He stood up and looked out of the window. The two policemen guarding his house had already woken up and were having an early morning chat right at his front door.
Last night, when they arrived, he had asked them to take a room in his apartment but they had insisted that they must stay outside near their vehicle and watch out for any intruder.
Adam walked straight into the bathroom; it was getting late and he must rush off to work. He picked up his tooth brush and toothpaste and began to brush his teeth in the bathroom. The half sized mirror was on the wall directly opposite him.
He suddenly felt a creepy sensation run through him. There was a sudden strange calmness in the bathroom atmosphere. He stopped, looked up and around him but saw nothing. Inspector Jack’s story was really getting at him, he thought. Then he asked himself why he was allowing himself to get afraid.
He continued to brush his teeth. He felt the sensation again. Something strange was happening he thought, fear gripped him and his heart rate began to beat faster. The temperature in the bathroom dropped, and the coolness became unbearable.
Adam wasn’t willing to take any chance. He stopped brushing his mouth and without bothering to rinse them, he made his way to the door.
He had barely taken two steps when something unimaginably strong gripped him by the neck. The grip was so tight that he instantly began to suffocate with signs of strain showing on his face. He began to fight uncontrollably for life with his whole strength.
The unseen hand lifted him up and with a high velocity, slammed his head on the mirror, immensely fracturing the back of his skull. Adam died immediately. His lifeless body slumped to the ground on the broken pieces of glasses.
The two policemen out side heard the noise made by the shattering glasses somewhere in the house.
Without wasting anytime, they quickly rushed into the house calling Adam’s name furiously.
“Check in the bedroom, let me go this way,” One of the officers said, with a gun in his hand.
The officer that checked the bedroom went straight to the bathroom after seeing that the bedroom was empty.
Adam’s body was lying lifelessly in his own pool of blood.

* * * * * * * * *

The prison warder walked straight to Nimrod’s cell. He stood there for a while; making Nimrod wonder what he had done wrong again this Wednesday morning. The warder opened the barred door and asked Nimrod to come with him.
Nimrod was led to the bathroom where he was asked to take a shower. A new set of prison cloths were given to him to wear and then he was led to the comptroller’s office.
The big fat comptroller looked like a huge dull baby on his massive chair.
“Some governmental police that came up have affected you positively. Luckily, you are among the prisoners that will be exonerated today; remember that we will be watching you and any little offence you commit out there with ensure that you find your way back here.” He directed his gaze to the warder standing behind Nimrod, “Take him to the legal department so that take his oath sign that he will be a good citizen. Bring him back in his mufti so that I can give him his discharge letter.”

@frank 3.16, sometimes sad stories are easier/more interesting to write, than the everyday "happy" stories. One genre I totally wish I could master is the horror story-telling, I envy writers who find it so simple to do. You're good in that aspect, I noticed.

Adam is such an a-hole. Or should I say he was?? grin. Somehow I liked the way he is being presented: self-absorbed, heartless and uncaring. You've got a way with painting a good picture inside the reader's head, and for that I thank you wink.

So Adam's victim no. 3 shocked shocked!! I wonder who's next undecided _ I hope not Michael cos he has done nuthin' wrong!!. However, Brenda is certainly going to see the inside of the police cell after this!

“Yes sir,” The warder responded and led Nimrod out of the office.
Just like that? Nimrod thought. He had been set free at last! A small mischievous smile immediately displayed on his lips. He was exceedingly glad.
Four hours later, Nimrod was led out of the prison gate. Surprisingly, Allen was waiting for him in his Peugeot 406.
Nimrod walked to him as he got out of the car. They gave each other a soft hug. Then Nimrod looked back and said, “Pray that nothing ever brings you to this place.” He looked at Allen, “How did you know that I was being released today?”
“Like I told you, my ears are actually glued to the ground. I heard the prison comptroller complaining on the media to the government that the prison was becoming over populated. The Judge was called upon to look into some cases so that people whose term was almost through could be discharged. I knew instantly that you would be out of there sooner than we expected.” He opened the door to his car as Nimrod also walked to the passenger’s side and allowed himself in.
“Wow! It feels good to be free.” Nimrod said as he relaxed himself inside the car. He looked at himself in the side mirror and said, “Nimrod, you are free. It is time you take back all that was taken from you. Take control like you always did and live the life that you had missed while in that hole.”
The engine of the car came to life in response to Allen’s manipulations and the car drove off.
“Where are we heading to?” Nimrod asked.
“To your new home. I told you about it the last time I visited you. It is a perfect place for you. You will love it”
“The apartment you got for me somewhere outside the town?”
“Yes,”
“So where do we start from here. I will like you to tell me more about the gang and what I should expect from them.” Nimrod said in a business like manner.
“Why don’t you get home first and relax for a while? You are just coming out from the prison and right now you’ve got a lot of time by your side, why are you in such a hurry?”
“I have got no time buddy. My whole time got wasted while I was in that hole.” Nimrod snapped. “Right now, the only thing I need to do is to slaughter those two bastards and then make my presence known in the gang.” There was a mean expression on his face and his voice was cold.
Allen suddenly realized that Nimrod was more eager than he thought. So he decided to fill Nimrod in on the latest news. “Well, the gang is much larger and most of the new members know little or nothing about you. Glen must definitely be eliminated before you can take total control, if not he can cause and unwelcomed stir. Michael is not in town now so he can’t be reached as soon as you expect. What name do you have for the gang?”
“The Shepherd.” Nimrod said, he was thinking of Michael.
“Why do you think we should have such an unusual name?” Allen asked.
“There is nothing unusual about it. We are the Shepherd and that is all.” Nimrod snapped.
“So how do we go about blending you with the gang?” Allen asked.
“The gang is mine. I will blend the people and not the other way round.”
“Remember, you have been away for four years. You shouldn’t expect everything to be the same. Four years is a long period of time.” Allen said in a cool voice. He knew that that was the best way anyone could talk to Nimrod without provoking him.
“You don’t have to remind me all that. poo! Four years of my life taken away form me just like that, just because of some silly busy body neighbor. Even the horrible times I had with my dad can’t be compared with my experience in that hell. You know what? One of these days we will have to raid that prison, I have scores to settle with some of those prison guards.”
“But first of all, we have to ensure you a smooth re-entry into the gang. How well they accept you will go a long way to deterring your success with them.”
“Allen was making a lot of sense, Nimrod thought, then he said, “I will have to kill Glen first, that will take out any unforeseen opposition from the way. Then I will go after Michael. Once this done I will be able to concentrate more on the gang. As long as these two people are still alive, I will continue to feel I am still in that hell.”
Allen knew that another reason why Nimrod really wanted to kill Glen and Michael was because of his passion for killing which he had missed indulging in for the past four years. Well, if that is what he wants, then that is what he will get. “So when do you plan to take on Glen?” He asked the psycho.
“Tonight if possible. And if you have his home address, I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t be possible.” Nimrod said firmly.
“Good. Then we will pay him a surprised visit tonight.” Allen smiled. “I can’t wait to see how surprised he will look when he sees you. He must have been thinking that you were going to stay in jail forever.” He was driving out of Lupe in full speed.
“Does he stay alone?” Nimrod asked.
“Yes”
“No serious relationship yet? Even after four years?”
“I think there is somebody serious in his life, but she is not in town and won’t be back till the week runs out.”
“Then we must pay him a visit tonight. What a lucky bastard she is.” There was a sinister smile on his lips. He relaxed his head and visualized himself tear Glen apart.

After yesterday’s stale turn out of events, Inspector Jack couldn’t help but wonder how today was going to be. The CEO of Zenith Oil Company, Mr. Bulus, had called him once again this morning only to remind him that he was beginning to feel that Jack wasn’t competent enough to handle this case and achieve results. Given his reputation as an Inspector in Lupe, Jack felt much worst with Mr. Bulus’s Statement.
But why was the rich brat blaming him anyway? Not that he even understands the circumstances surrounding the case. Jack tried his best not to allow Mr. Bulus’s statement affect his concentration.
He picked up the already opened case file on the table and started all over again to study it. He had barely read the first line when his phone rang. Jack pick is up like he had been expecting is all day. “Hello”
“Good morning sir, there had been another mysterious murder,” a young officer’s voice spoke from the other end.
“Oh God! Where and who again this time around? Jack’s mouth suddenly tasted bitter.
“Number five Stream Street. Mr. Adam Walter”
“I will be right there.” Quickly, Jack picked up his jacket and rushed out of the office.
It took Inspector Jack only seven minutes to arrive at the murder scene. He got out of his car and walked towards Officer Kennedy who was already coming towards him.
The environment was already beginning to get crowded. The press was already there and the neighbors and passer bys all wanted to have a glimpse of what was happening.
“What really happened? I thought I specifically instructed that this house should be watched and guarded.” Jack asked.
“Yes Sir, the cops were here when is happened. Only that Adam was inside while the cops were outside at the time of the murder. But they swear that nobody entered the compound not to mention the house.” Kennedy quickly said.
“Did your search reveal anything?”
“The search revealed nothing. From the look of things nobody entered his house within the hour. This is definitely the handwork of something or someone with a supernatural power.”
“This means we were actually on the right track yesterday. All these killings have something to do Brenda Davis with or without here knowledge.” Jack looked around, “have you alerted the homicide crew?”
“Yes sir”
“Aright, let’s get inside so that I can have a look.” Jack allowed Officer Kennedy to lead the way into the building. He was led into the bathroom where Adam’s body lay in a pool of blood. The bathroom was messy with pieces of broken glasses everywhere. “Oh my God,” Jack said softly, “what in this world is killing these men and why?” he looked at Adam’s lifeless body; he could hardly believe that it was the same person he was speaking with yesterday.
Adam had been full of life and didn’t know what the morning had for him.
The messy room did not in any way match with Brenda’s extremely gentle and appealing appearance. The more he thought of it the more confused he got.
Was she a witch?
Well, with Adam’s death, she must have some explanation for all these. Something was fighting for her and she was claiming ignorance of it all.
He was still ruminating and looking around when the homicide crew arrived. He saluted them and stepped out for them to do their job.
“I was wondering how best we should confront Brenda this time around.” He was speaking to Officer Kennedy, “she seems like our only hope for the right information and we don’t want to make the wrong move.”
“Is she a suspect?” Kennedy asked.
Inspector Jack looked at him curiously and asked, “What are you thinking?”
“I don’t think she would have stroked suddenly if all these were her making or if she actually had knowledge of what was happening. Not after we chatted with her yesterday.”
“It could be something beyond her control,” Jack suggested.
“Yes, that could also be a possibility. Why don’t we contact her roommate and friend first? She could tell us something helpful.”
“Yes, that is a very nice idea.” Inspector Jack looked at his wrist watch; it was just a few minutes past nine am. “Let’s wait and see what the homicide crews have got before we leave.”
Five minutes later, the homicide squad came out and Officer Teddy walked straight to Jack. “The same old story. No trace of any current human activity except for that of the deceased. Do you have any idea on what is going on?”
“No, we are still trying to figure that out.”
Inspector Jack didn’t want to waste anymore time with him. He was already certain that the answers he needed wouldn’t be found here. He quickly excused himself and drove off with Officer Kennedy.

Re: The Cyber Lover by frank3.16: 6:43pm On Nov 19, 2009
Wednesday morning wasn’t so much a busy day at Jane’s work place. So the worker had enough time to chat about trivial matters. Jane joined them in the chat. They talked about Derek’s murder and then digressed to other matters that concerned Lupe as a whole. From the discussion, Jane was glad to know that words had not yet gotten out that Brenda was somehow connected with Derek’s death.
One of Jane’s workmate walked into the office a few minutes later and was looking more excited than he looked before he left the office earlier in the day. Without waiting to be asked what the matter was, he quickly said, “Something is happening in this town. Do you guys know that there has been another murder in town?” The question was directed to know one in particular.
“Another murder?” A female worker asked.
“I stopped by the visitor’s room to listen to the head line news at ten. The murder has also been described as mysterious, only that this time deceased was assassinated in his home while he was having his bath.”
Jane immediately felt sick, “Do you have any idea what his name is?” she asked.
“I didn’t really get the full name, but the first name was Adam, he stayed at Stream Street where he was murdered. I gathered that the police were even around at the time he was murdered.”
“Are you trying to say that he already had police protection?” Jane asked.
“Maybe. I don’t understand what is happening to our peaceful Lupe. Perhaps both men belong to a cult and have offended some divine spirit.” Another worker suggested.
Jane couldn’t take it anymore, she was now very positive that Cain was the killer. She quickly left that office and went to call Brenda on a public phone booth. As she headed for the phone booth, she deliberated within herself weather she should call the cops and let them know what she knew.
She got to the phone booth and dialed Brenda’s number.
“Hello” Brenda answered to her phone.
“It’s Jane. Have you heard the news in town?”
“What news?” Brenda asked. She was almost certain that it was going to be about somebody’s death given the panic in Jane’s voice.
“Adam has also been murdered.” There was a long silence from the other end, “Brenda, are you there?”
“Yes.” Brenda replied in a wobbling voice.
“Oh Brenda, I am confused. Shouldn’t we call the cops and tell them what we know?”
“I will go to the café straight away. Let me speak to Cain and find out what he knows. After that we can decide on what next to do. Going to the cops with the little we know might make us sound ridiculous.”
“I am scared Brenda. He must be a monster; he might even hurt you and everyone around you. I am terribly scared.” Jane cried.
“I will call you and tell you my discussion with him once I am through. Talking to Cain first before we tell anybody is the best option we have got, please have that in mind.”
“Please be careful.” Jane said.
“I will, Bye” the line went dead.
Jane tried her best to control her emotions before getting back into the office. They were still talking about the news when one of the Bank messengers came to inform her that she had visitors.
The messenger told her that her visitors were two men and she knew instantly that they were cops.
She walked into the reception to see them. They were comfortably seated and waiting for her.
“Good morning Sirs. How may I help you?”
“Good morning.” Inspector Jack replied. He introduced himself and Officer Kennedy and then proceeded with his interrogation.
“How well do you know Miss Brenda Davis?”
“I know her too well; she is like a sister to me.”
“How long have you known her?”
“We got to know ourselves as fresh students in Lupe University.” Jane answered.
“Then I guess you must have known about her past three relationships that didn’t work out?” Jack asked.
“Yes”
“Are you aware that these three men have all been mysteriously murdered recently?”
“Yes inspector. That was terrible. I am still going through the shock of the news of Adam’s demise.”
“Are you aware that the police interrogated Brenda at your home yesterday?”
“Yes, Brenda told me everything.”
“Tell me something Miss Brenda. What do you think about these three killings and what do you know?” Inspector Jack stared straight into her eyes and he talked. “Why did these three men leave her? And why are they all dead?”
“They left her because men are monsters, she didn’t deserve what they put her through. But I don’t understand why they are all dying, it’s so confusing.” She replied.
“Do you have the slightest idea of what happened to these men?”
“No. should I?”
“You are in the best position to answer that you self madam. You know your friend very well.”
“Is Brenda a suspect?” she asked, “You think Brenda is a murderer? After seeing and speaking with her yesterday, did she look like she was capable of hurting anyone? For God’s sake inspector, Brenda had been through hell trying to get over these broken relationships and to think of her as a murderer? That is ridiculous. Please Mr. Inspector, don’t tell me that you think that Brenda would go ahead to kill Adam right after chatting with you yesterday. Wasn’t she the one that gave you his address?” Her only desire was that they should stop questioning her.
“Look madam, we have already taken all you are saying into consideration. In fact that is why we decided to come straight to you and not to her. We are not saying that she is guilty of these murders, but you can believe me that everything points to her. That is why we are asking you if there is anything that you think we should know; something she may or may not be aware of. We are trying to uncover three murders, help us if you can.” Inspector Jack believed that the best way she can get information from both Jane and Brenda was to take it easy with them.
Jane remained silent. She was obviously confused.
Was she hiding something? Jack thought.
Kenned spoke up, “Please Miss Jane, we need you to help us. People are dying and we don’t know who the next victim might be. Let us know what is going on; help us save lives.”
Jane was in a dilemma. She didn’t know if she should tell them about Cain or not.
“Right now the best move we can make is to arrest Brenda for proper interrogation. We need the truth. But we thought it was wiser to take it easy on her. Honestly, she does not look like a murderer to me, but that won’t stop me from carrying out my duties.” Inspector Jack added.
Arrest Brenda? Jane thought. That will be very detrimental to her image even in her new work place. She looked up and her face displayed more confusion.
“Where is Brenda at the moment? You must disclose her location if you know, we have to take in for more interrogation.” Jack said and made a false attempt to stand up.
“I have something to tell you,” She quickly said.
“What is it?” Inspector Jack asked with an uncontrollable note of excitement in his voice.
“It is a very strange story, you might not believe it but it is the truth.”
“Spill it. With what I have seen recently, I can believe anything.”
“It’s a long story. Permit me to inform my co-workers that I will stay out a little longer than expected. I will back as soon as possible.”
“No problem, we will wait.” Jack said. He couldn’t wait to hear what she has to say.
She left them and returned ten minutes later. She sat down and allowed so many thoughts to run through her mind. She hoped she was doing the right thing.
The police men waited.
She started from the beginning. She told them all about Brenda. She told them how they met and how she met her boyfriends. Jane’s aim was to let them know how innocent Brenda had always been. Then she told them about Adam, Michael and how Cain came into her life. “I know you won’t believe it but that is the whole truth. I am even wondering how it could be possible that someone on the internet could kill people, but right now, Cain seems that only explanation for these deaths.”
“Wow. It sounds ridiculous.” Jack didn’t know what else to say.
“Right now she has gone to chat with him; to confirm if he is really the one doing the killings. I am expecting her call any moment from now.”
Jack looked at Officer Kennedy and stood up, “We will hang around. I will like to have first hand information of whatever Brenda tells you.” He wasn’t yet sure if he should believe the story or not, but he decided to wait and hear whatever she had to say. He was sure that the deaths were not caused but anything natural; therefore he felt that Jane’s story made a little sense.
They thanked Jane for her corporation and took their leave.
As they left the reception, Inspector Jack said, “Take note of Michael, somehow I think he is someone we should watch, either for good or bad.

Re: The Cyber Lover by frank3.16: 12:51pm On Nov 23, 2009
After receiving the information from Jane about Adam’s murder, Brenda excused herself to be alone for a while. She knew she was through with the day’s orientation exercise. She pondered over the news for a while and decided she must go straight to the company’s café and speak with Cain.
She received a call before she entered the café from Michael; he was calling to inform her that he would be back from his trip the next day.
Michael had embarked on a short trip the previous day.
Michael promised her that he will be back early so that they could spend a large part of the day together.
She looked forward to his coming back; she wanted to tell him all that had happened and hear what he has to say. She also couldn’t wait to spend the day with him. She was missing him.
The thought of Adam hit her again.
Adam was dead! Everybody she once loved was dead! She hoped Cain will be on line to chat with her.
She got into the café after displaying her ID card to the attendant. A free system was given to her and she quickly logged in.
Cain was already there as usual.
Weird_000: Hi, my love
Bren1100: Good day Cain.
Weird_000: Congratulation for your new job.
Bren1100: Thank you Cain.
Weird_000: I hope you had a wonderful experience during our last meeting?
Bren1100: It was strange. Why did you leave all of a sudden and never returned?
Weird_000: Your friend was spoiling our good time so I left. I wanted to take your emotions somewhere will truly appreciate.
Bren1100: You left me feeling embarrassed. You allowed me to make a fool of myself. I was almost Unclad in front of Michael.
Weird_000: Don’t let that bother you. The only thing that should bother you is that I didn’t finish what I started. Did you miss me? I missed you Brenda.
Bren1100: We really need to talk Cain. A lot has happened in the past five days.
Weird_000: the deaths?
Bren1100: You know about the deaths? What is happening? I need answers Cain.
Weird_000: Why are you allowing that to bother you? They deserve to die. Don’t you have better things to talk about?
Bren1100: People are dying Cain. They humans; people I once loved and cared for. It will definitely bother me.
Weird_000: They hurt you Brenda. They don’t deserve your concern.
Bren1100: Are you the one killing them?
Weird_000: Of course I am the one. I told you that they must pay for all that they have done to you. In their next life they will never be cruel to any lady.
Bren1100: This is insane.
Weird_000: What? What is insane?
Bren1100: Oh my God. Cain, what are you? Why are you killing people? You are driving me crazy.
Weird_000: I have real love for you Brenda, which is why I am killing for your sake. I will do anything for you, just to see you happy.
Bren1100: I can’t remember telling you that the death of my past lovers will make me happy. You are turning my world upside down. Now I have police visiting me, is that your idea of happiness?
Weird_000: Relax and take it easy. These men tore your world apart and not their deaths. You have got your vengeance and that should make you keep you settled for a while. Now you have my protection, which is what every human desire. Don’t worry about the police; I can take them away if you want me to.
Bren1100: No. Please enough of the killings. God! What are you?
Weird_000: I understand how you feel now Brenda. Don’t worry, with time you will understand me much better. I am not like humans that will end up disappointing you. You need somebody as perfect as me. You don’t need People like Michael; they are no good for you. Permit me to take his life also.
Brenda almost screamed. Michael? He was also going to kill Michael. She mustn’t allow him to hurt Michael.
Bren1100: Cain, I beg you, don’t kill any one again. Please don’t hurt Michael. He has good intentions for me. He does not mean to harm me.
Weird_000: I know he does not intend to harm you. But he is human and is not perfect. Humans can’t help hurting each others sometimes. Besides, he is a treat to your love for me. I need him out of the way so that you can concentrate on me.
Bren1100: but I am beginning to fall in love with him and dating him makes more sense than dating you.
Weird_000: I am capable of being jealous Brenda. His presence will not make you understand me better. By the time he is out of the picture, and you date me, you will understand what you would have missed.
Bren1100: Cain! Please don’t hurt Michael. I will do what ever you want me to do.
Weird_000: he is not in town now. When he comes back tomorrow, go and convince him to leave you for his sake. He must take you off his mind if he wants to live. I will be there, if he accepts, his life will be saved, if he does not accept to leave you, then I will kill him instantly.
Bren1100: Why are you doing this to me Cain? You are hurting and tormenting me in the name of love. I am in pains Cain, you are shattering my world.
Weird_000: I hat to see you talk like this my love. I don’t mean to hurt you. You also break my heart when you sob. But I must leave now. I will be there tomorrow when you talk to Michael.
Bren1100: You can’t just leave now Cain.
Weird_000: Good bye Brenda.
Cain signed out and Brenda stood there for some minutes not knowing what to think or do.
She quickly logged out and left the café.
She picked her cell phone and dialed Jane’s number.
“Brenda, what happened? What did Cain say?” Jane hurriedly asked.
“He admitted to committing the murders. I am coming over to your office, just wait for me.”
“The cops are around; they want to see you,”
“No problem. I will see them.” She dropped the phone and rushed out to get a cab.
