in my varsity, faculties of agric and education are seen as dumping ground. for instance, if those who applied for medicine didn't get the cut off, they throw throw them to agric |

Anuoluwapo3054: You re indeed a true diplomat my colleague. In fact 2 sum it all, "a society that does not know the history of its past, is condemned 2 repeat" For people who don't know the what history is all bout it. Here's is ya lik dose of it.....We study history to know the past, by knowing the past we relate it with the present and as well be able to predict the future! this course is a bomb, I've never for one day regretted studying it. Nigerians are just concerned bout professional courses. |

Those 5 courses are the best quote me anywhere. 1. History: any wise person that study the past event will not likely make the same mistakes the other people made. Like the MMM that put many into problem. People that studied such event and those that happen to spoke out but many didn't read. Even bible and Quran are for us to study and to avoid mistakes that people of old make 2. Yoruba language. Here in america, even in Nigeria if you call any help like you will have to pick the language you refer. Those people are the one that studies yoruba language. Not that yoruba that many speak that they can't finish a sentence without adding English Agriculture: The study of agriculture is what put Nigeria in that level of hunger we are now. Farming is the way. All those courses are the best I studies history and international study. Though I have not receive my certification after 3 years from one university that start with L. |

Botany is the study of plants and plants products...without plants there is no life as every living organisms will all die off due to lack of oxygen for terrestrial animals/organisms and the organisms that lives in water such as fishes etc which provides proteins to humans when consumed. plants are primary producers using sunlight and carbondioxide from humans and other organisms to produce food that all living things consume as secondary and tertiary consumers...through plants drugs, cosmetics, detergents n toiletries, fabrics and so many for the health, upkeep and shelter of humans....plants purify the environment from pollutants, it helps in ozone layer purification, it helps also for the control of tides n storms that why riverine areas are advised to plant tall trees and stop cutting down trees in the BIBLE God gave Adam n Eve instruction to eat plants for their food n herbs Genesis 2:15....the list goes on n on even Doctors, Pharmacists, pharmacognosists, pharmacologists, microbiologists n others can never function well in their fields without a botanist especially plant taxonomists, Ethnobotanists which deals ith medicinal plants n all.......i RATE BOTANY VERY HIGH FOR WITHOUT D STUDY OF PLANTS AND PLANTS PRODUCTS THERE CAN NEVER BE BIOLOGY WHICH IS THE STUDY OF LIFE AND THERE CAN NEVER BE LIFE AT ALL. |

Anuoluwapo3054:Brother, do u mean all Nigerians must be historians before we can move this country forward? For the fact that one is not a historian does not mean he/she did not know the history of his country. Almost all Nigerians who were born before 80s know the history of Gen Moh'd Buhari's regime yet they voted him in. Religion is our prb in choosing leaders not knowing the past history. |

We are not saying studying history is bad but the chances of one getting job is limited. I don't need a historian to tell me abt Aliko Dangote, his history is boldly written on website, pamphlet, journals, and so on, the chances of getting work is just too small. Agriculture is a good course to me Educational course are manageable too, just the way teachers are being treated by state governors is discouraging. |

Anuoluwapo3054:Thanks, history helps d STATE to trace their background/ origin in other to predict the future, it gives confidenc 2d historian to overcome n confront the Eurocentric writers with fact about Africa, A true historian will never feel inferior 2anySTATE (westerners), we ar proud of our culture, our Skin, our language etc in al sector we ar relevant,eg in education: d historical background of educ in 9ja help in reviewing d curriculum from 3R to wat we av now, in aspect of politics we ar also needed eg history of buhari, ojukwu, awolowo, wil enable to make d rite choice etc, let me stop here Internationa relation/ strategic stu: is abt ao states relate n interact. It helps student 2think strategically, to place d state interest above every oda tin, if our leaders ar historians: Africa wil b d best state n mayb Nigeria will b among d world power, cos deir knowledge abt C. Richelieu, Lious XIV, Thomas jefferson etc will give dem an insight of wat leadership means. HISTORIANS ROCK |

well as a Undergraduate of history/international relations,I can say that History is the Father of all disciplines, because they all have a story to tell at least...on how it began and etc...Without History we will continue to deceive ourselves in this part of the terrestrial world...Will really be happy if the FG will fulfill the Promise of re-adding the discipline back into Nigeria educational syllabus hopefully next year...God bless! |
