in as much as I'd like to ignore you and your comments for lack of understanding and foresight, I'll enlighten you a little on this issue

When u proof read it doesn't necessarily means you are checking just only grammatical errors and language structure, rather it entails d act of checking for the overall soundness of your write up, does it make sense? Will my listeners and readers grasp the idea? Am I communicating? Is the content original? And lots and lots of other things are considered too

For a campaign of such social magnitude one would have gone through the speech with whoever wrote, thereafter if accepted, you ask your special advisers to check for plagiarism, which is even easy to to detect with advanced search through google.

Am not asking him to write his speeches, all am saying is that he could have avoided the whole drama if he had shown a little seriousness towards this ' Change begins with me' campaign.
Proof reading cannot detect plagiarism that's why there are specialised softwares for that.
You can read a text a hundred times and not know if it was plagiarised.

The government pays people to write speech, if they cannot do their jobs properly, they should be sanctioned.

Lol at the President should have gone through the speech with the writer....

You should also tell him to go through flight plans with his pilot or go through cooking plans with his cook to make sure the salt is not too much.

When will Jonathan apologize for brazen corruption under his corruptarian regime?
sir,i think this nature of your thinking is just too backward.
So the government can continue their mediocrity because the past government was?
This will not help our present condition na.
The past is gone,
Let's see how to encourage the present to do better.

Some people are just irredeemable. The president has seen the error and has apologised to avoid further embrassment then you are here still defending that there is no plagiarism because PMB can do no wrong. How stupid can some of you get?

Just show me where he apologised. Like we don't even know what apology means. I was looking forward to see something like " I apologise for ... I'll be committed to see that such mistake doesn't happen again".

But no, he'll rather look for who or what to blame and then promise to rain hell should the person be caught. Na so apology dey dey? He has not punished himself for reading what was wrongfully inserted in his speech, he is only concern on who insert it. Don't they proofread before presentation?

This presido dey fall my hand o, if him do this kind mistake again, I go tear my voters cars on top yin head o.

Must u keep blaming everyone for your ineptitude

How's this an apology Shifting the blame to an overzealous staff, why couldn't u just proof-read the material yourself or have Garba Shehu himself go through it before going on air

This is irresponsibility, cowardice, and stupidity. There are certain mistakes I am ashamed of making at this young age of mine one of which is shifting blame to others when I could have avoided d whole drama

I'd be ashamed to be Buhari's media aid personally, because the things he makes them do and say atimes makes you question their qualifications and crisis handling capacity

Thought i was the only one who saw that, this is no apology. He has even committed the greater crime of concieving deceit by committing another who could be innocent to take a fall for his blunders. This govt. Is a joke.

the first time to apologize but on an irrelevant thing .why not apologize to zombies for deceiving them and running the economy aground.. well, they are good in misplacing priorities.

It because you are not serious and have lost moral value that is why you will call it irrelevant. Taken responsibility is a sign of strengthen not weakness.

It's like u lots have comprehension problem. Proof reading alone is not enough detect plagiarism except u are familiar with the work bin plagiarized. No one is talking abt plagiarism software here...

Is plagiarism a grammatical error that proof reading will make u detect? Do u expect them to know all Obama's speeches offhand. The only person that could have known it was plagiarized is someone that knows abt that particular Obama's speech....

So at the level of the presidency, ur telling me they dnt have a software to detect plagiarism? With several speeches he has delivered, it's fair to say this probably isn't the first time this has happened. Fact remains this administration keeps making "schoolboy errors" both on a national and international platform. Gets even more worrying knowing these are d same pple to lead us put of dis recession we find ourself in.

as for you Mr. Defender...ignorance is not an excuse, you obviously do not know the consequences of plagiarism and it's legal implications because you have never published anything before I'm your life, not even am original Facebook post perhaps

With google alone you can check for plagiarism within a minute, the fact that you don't know this and you are unwilling to learn baffles me... Keep defending his mistakes hopefully some day you will see the light, but until then try to get an education, you'd thank me later

Comprehension problem is what u are suffering from. Proof reading alone is not enough to detect plagiarism except u are very familiar with the work bin plagiarized. Who is talking abt Google or plagiarism software here... Obama himself might not even remember he made the exact speech... If u are so pained u can decide to go to court for Obama...

I mean just apologize and let the issue die. Why would you tell us you are investigating who added those lines to the speech, it just shows that you are irresponsible in the first instance because you could not employ the services of a well trained speech writer.

How does proof-reading a speech check plagiarism? Nawao Buhari has turned everyone to analyst.
You should blame the media aid for not checking plagiarism.... There are so many softwares out there that can easily do this (e.g SafeAssign, Turnitin etc).

Buhari's lack of education is embarrassing Nigeria
It's really embarrassing to know that my president can't even write his speech. He should go back to school and learn some of these things instead of embarrassing Nigerians like that.

When you are smart you can be lazy.
And your hard worker mentality tells the best way to combat plagiarism is to employ more hands?

Oh year, the mistake has been made and the best way to forestall it's reoccurrence is to fire the guy who drafted.
If you don't know that plagiarism is a crime then you have no business being a speech writer let alone a presidential speech writer.
