Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by FBS: 9:34am On Nov 19, 2009 |
Slovenia kicked them out. @Borat, why is russia your second team ? If not for Guus, them no suppose reach this stage sef even though now I think even some russians think otherwise. A manager they say is as good as his last match. Heck, I love footie. |

Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by FBS: 1:36pm On Nov 19, 2009 |
@honeric01, honestly I really wish you will stop this your "whitey" thing. I can't see any post from any NL member asking for a "white" coach. I speak for no one but I don't think skin-worshipping is still in vogue. Get it out of your mind. Does it not occur to you that anyone who is not a Nigerian is automatically a foreigner? And what folks asked for was a good coach and since some do not see any good one (capable of handling the SE) from Nigeria , tell me, what other options do they have? of course a foreign one! Now he can be even from space or anywhere. IT DOES NOT MATTER!!! As per GH, he is a good coach and his CV is massive- russia is NOT a good side IMO. Guus gave them some sort of belief but a pig by any other name is still a PIG! geddit? but you are right, it is not ONLY about the coach, the Players are even more important. Slovenia had the one of the best (if not the best and perhaps only second best to The Netherlands) defensive record in the WCQ (conceded only 4 goals! ). They are well drilled and organised. Let Amodu go and coach russia and GH Nigeria. Maybe then we can now compare them. |
Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by semid4lyfe(m): 4:36pm On Nov 19, 2009 |
FBS, stop 'bandying' and throwing words around. How many foreign 'world class' coaches are black? Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard, Jean Tigana, Paul Ince* and who else? When last did any of these people coach a decent side? The fact is Foreign Coach = White. Amodu qualified us with an almost excellent record and you're still here calling for a foreign coach. Shame on you! Shey for Exam, 9/12 no be pass? - Person play 12 matches, win 9, draw 3 and una still wan sack am becos una no like em style of play? No be na wa, na real wa for una. The same Russia that you say is made up of below-average players coached by Guus Hiddink is the same team that beat star-studded teams like Sweden and Holland & now they suddenly cannot beat a 'starless' Slovenia with their world class coach? This your logic no just make sense. All of una calling for foreign coach go FAIL. AMODU SHUAIBU MUST TAKE US TO SA 2010. |
Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by waleski(m): 9:20pm On Nov 19, 2009 |
Dis case of amodu taking naija 2 d world cup is a serious one .4 me i think it is nt d case of whether amodu is gud enugh it is a case of lacklustre atitudn on d part of d players.even though amodu may av his fault of being technicaly deficient like in d case of our match against tunisia d boys are d ones we shuld critisize.throughouj d whole qualifying process u culd count only 1 or 2 players who always give their 120% in d matches most of dem dnt care afteral they wil go 2 dere clubs nd stil be earning their wages so d country takes 2nd place so dere shuld be some sort of measures dat wil ginger dese players up 2 make dem perform. |

semid4lyfe:@Semid4lyfe, My friend stop talking nonsense abi you shack gbana?! where did you see me call for a foreign "white" coach? I said a good coach and it doesn't matter if he is from space or Guinea conakry. The Frank Rijkaard you mentioned is Dutch- What is my business with the color of his skin? Open up your mind bro. Now let me try to break it down for you. russia is I repeat NOT a brilliant side. Their greatest achievement in modern times is a semifinal berth at the Euros. Now, I can tell you for a fact that, they wouldn't have reached that stage if NOT for GUUS! Yes and truely, they failed to beat Slovenia (need I remind you that have one of the best defensive record in the WCQ?). Sh!t happens, just as Greece won The Euros. Who would have thought that would happen? Now its no suprise that their coach Otto Rehaggel has a job for LIFE! Now tell me, why didn't the Greeks hire a Greek as coach? The point is, they wanted success and they went for the "best". It does not matter if he was German or Greek. That is the bigger picture. That there are no (as you put it) "black" big time coaches is a different subject entirely and that is not down to me to break it down for you. Hiring a coach is not a political position- You don't get elected but appointed. The Switzerland that won the U-17, can you tell me how many of them are truely "Swizz"? Did you see their last names? What does that tell you? It doesn't matter where you are from? If you can deliver the desired result then by all means, GO FOR IT! Amodu needs help and that my dear is a FACT! Ask anyone or do you want to tell me that you like the way we are playing? Come off it dude, get your head out of the sand. Let Amodu take them boys to the ANC first. His achievements will determine what will happen next! More importantly, he should select TOP NIGERIAN players from every corner of the world who are starters for their clubs. Why the over reliance on European based players? |
Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by honeric01(m): 11:18am On Nov 20, 2009 |
FBS: Man, i don't know what to do with you, now tell me, who else are the people calling for the sack of Amodu looking to replace Amodu? Kadiri Ikana, John Obuh or Samson Siasia? who? be sincere with yourself and stop trying to pretend as if we all don't know that they are all looking for the likes of Guus Hiddink and co. Russia is now a team of less than average players abi? now tell me, compare their players and our players, then tell me if they don't beat ours (club performances level) how many of our players control regular shirt in their various clubs compared to the Russian team? who's ranked higher by fifa, Nigeria or Russia? please, i don't want to continue. |
Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by FBS: 1:49pm On Nov 20, 2009 |
honeric01:I laugh in Nokia. Who are the "they" looking for a foreign coach, me or NFF? NL never disappoints, honestly! (wait let me laugh again, and this time in Samsung). F.cuk FIFA and their ranking but if you must know we were once the 5th best nation in the world. And as at the beginning of 08 Nigeria was ranked 19th, russia -24th. Do you want me to show you the fifa table? To be honest with you, not that I care about the ranking but heck, Nigerians have better players than russia. Boy, don't even go there!!! I don't know why you are shifting post all the time- Where on here did you see me say Amodu must go? As regards Hiddink well he is a good coach and anyone will tell you this. He has achieved not because of the color of his skin but because of his records. But wait, let me ask you something. Do you like the way we play? Do you agree that Amodu could do his job better by scouting for players even in our local league? |
Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by honeric01(m): 2:18pm On Nov 20, 2009 |
FBS: Don't make me stop deliberating with you, we are talking about nlders looking for a foreign coach, you are here bringing in nff, even the chairman of nff said he won't go for any foreign coach so what are you talking about? search through nairaland, you will find posters clamoring for a foreign coach (including you indirectly ). Russia is 12th in the world, that means they are better than us, if we were higher than them before means they have been doing well, so why then didn't they qualify for the world cup even with Guus at the helm of affair? so are you trying to tell me that what guus has achieved, no other black coach has achieved? (national wide). I am not saying i love the way we are playing (presently) but what i like is that he's doing his NUMBER ONE JOB (TO WIN) and he's doing that well. scouting for players is what he should do and then look for a better play pattern which i believe can only be gotten if he's allowed to keep the super eagle's job. thank God we have the nations cup ahead. he's capable of using that to show us the progress he's able to make by doing all these things you and i want him to do. On current form, can you boastfully say Nigeria has better players than Russia? you might not know them and their various clubs by heart but just try to look them up and try to see how (competent) they are in their various club-sites compared to the Nigerian side. if you claim that you don't want Amodu to go, then why are you against him? criticism varies, if you want him to stay but improve, you should always let them show in your posting and not try to pay lip services when addressing his case. NOW I WANT YOU TO ANSWER THIS, DO YOU WANT AMODU AS THE SUPER EAGLE'S HEAD-COACH TO THE NATION'S CUP AND WORLD CUP? please be reminded that no but, just a yes or no answer to this particular question. |
Re: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by FBS: 2:59pm On Nov 20, 2009 |
honeric01:Well you can stop deliberating with me for all I care. I'm not here because of you and neither are you here because of me. It's free world dude. True russia are ranked 12th but that does NOT mean that they are better than us. FIFA are a pile of self-service and I can't trust them with 10meter pole. Forget the rankings and talk about what you see on the pitch, ok? How many times in the last 3 years have you watched russia play? I'm disgusted you brought this "black" & "white" thing into fray again (stop feeling inferior) but to answer your question, how many "successful "black" coaches do you know that are on world stage? How many of them manage international clubs or foreign countries? I am not saying i love the way we are playing (presently) but what i like is that he's doing his NUMBER ONE JOB (TO WIN) and he's doing that well. scouting for players is what he should do and then look for a better play pattern which i believe can only be gotten if he's allowed to keep the super eagle's job. thank God we have the nations cup ahead. he's capable of using that to show us the progress he's able to make by doing all these things you and i want him to do.You don't like the way we play, you agree that fresher and better players are needed yet you are talking banana? Amodu needs help and that is a FACT. He cannot do it alone. I even suggested that he work with Sia1 but was told that the two cannot work together. So what do we do? Send him for a coaching course? Where? In Nigeria or to a foreign land? Answer me!!! On current form, can you boastfully say Nigeria has better players than Russia? you might not know them and their various clubs by heart but just try to look them up and try to see how (competent) they are in their various club-sites compared to the Nigerian side.I can tell you for a FACT that I know ALL the players in the russian squad and ALL bar NONE are starters for their respective clubs. Zhirkov - Just switched to Chelsea and was injured but prior to that was sure banker for CSKA. Pavluchenko - was a regular for Spartak before moving to Spurs. Those are the two you may say aren't starters for real. That we are parading bench warmers ain't no proof that the russians are better. I'm telling you that our U-17 will beat the f.uck out of them. if you claim that you don't want Amodu to go, then why are you against him? criticism varies, if you want him to stay but improve, you should always let them show in your posting and not try to pay lip services when addressing his case.Lips shekini? are you drunk or what? NOW I WANT YOU TO ANSWER THIS, DO YOU WANT AMODU AS THE SUPER EAGLE'S HEAD-COACH TO THE NATION'S CUP AND WORLD CUP? please be reminded that no but, just a yes or no answer to this particular question. To the Nations Cup, YES! To the World Cup? This should be based on his performance in the Nations Cup. |
