feelgood:

The senior lost his birthright to the junior because he fell to the temptation to commit sexual immorality
Who was he? And who got his birthright?

This is a tricky one.  I believe, according to the account in Gen.49:1-33, that Reuben forfeited his 'birthright' due to sexual immorality and Simeon and Levi as a result of violence, and this was given to Joseph's twins.  Joseph got the rights and double portion of the of the firstborn as we know that he ruled over his brothers and his children were included in the genealogy that is, they inherited the two tribes instead of one.  Judah technically was next in line to receive the birthright 1 Chron.5:1 and he did receive the royal birthright Gen.49:10 which can be said to be the royal line through which David and eventually our Lord and King Jesus Christ who is reigning in the hearts of born again Christians today and who shall reign in the earth at His second advent in the last days.

So technically speaking, Judah was the one who inherited the birthright (dynasty) that Reuben, Simeon and Levi forfeited even though Joseph got the immediate attended blessings and double portions that usually comes with the birthright.

Therefore, I will conclude that while Reuben forfeited his
birthright Judah inherited it and hence the royal dynasty has been extended to the universal church today who's Head is Jesus Christ and He shall reign forever.  Gen.49:10

@Oladeegbu
I like ur analyses, but dont totally agree with ur conclusions.
1chron 5:1 says it all.
Therefore the answers are:
Reuben and Joseph (ie his 2 sons)
Do have a blessed day.

That was spot on.  May I also include the fact that the description in Job 40:15-24 actually befits that of a dinosaur like Brachiosaurus smiley

True Talk:

What killed Methuselah?

Death? Gen 5: 28

And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died
Re: Bible Quiz Game by TrueTalk3: 11:37am On Oct 09, 2007

Of course he died; but he died of what?

I repeat; what killed Methuselah? cool
Re: Bible Quiz Game by OLAADEGBU(m): 3:26pm On Oct 09, 2007
True Talk:

What killed Methuselah?

The Law of sin and death caught up with him.  Rom. 8:1,2

God  commanded Adam not to eat out of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, and that they would die if they did.  Gen. 2:16-17  This death was twofold- spiritual death (separation from God) which will eventually lead to physical death.

This death passed to all his descendants and to all men because of the original sin.  Rom. 5:12-21

Methuselah would have lived physically forever if Adam and Eve had eaten out of the fruit of the tree of life but God sent them out of the garden otherwise Methuselah and all his descendants would have been alive today ravaged by sin, sickness and disease and unable to die.  Methuselah died around the time the flood came during the time of Noah.

So, Methuselah died as a result of the sin he inherited from his parents and so will everyone after him.  But God has given us the Last Adam who is heavenly, and if we allow that supernatural birth to take place in our hearts we would become a new creature (2Cor.5:17) and we shall receive eternal life- which means we shall live forever in the life time of the never dying God.
Re: Bible Quiz Game by TrueTalk3: 3:37pm On Oct 09, 2007
Nice breakdown

but I was asking what actually killed him?

OLAADEGBU:

The Law of sin and death caught up with him. Rom. 8:1,2

So, Methuselah died as a result of the sin he inherited from his parents and so will everyone after him.

The law of Sin & death catches up with several people; but you have several way in which they go/die

Car accident
Wars
Disease
e.t.c

So, what killed Methuselah? or maybe I should say by what means did he die?

I'm still wondering the kind of answer you're expecting after all the explanations/illustrations from Samueline and Olaadegbu. Could you just say it on. ?

Yes. I second that, he died of either old age or brief illness, 969 years on earth to fulfil the prophecy of his father Enoch.
