we have heard such an idiotic statement many times, even among my Delta Igbo people and the Rivers area.
my letter is to the south east Igbos on how to handle this unfortunate situations that were caused by the Nigeria civil war.

I understand that your pride is at stake when a SS igbo deny being Igbo. I Understand.
psychologically, identity crisis is like a case of A Boy who is a GAY but is covering up inorder to appear like a STRAIGHT guy before the public.
deep inside him, this boy knows that he has affection for fellow boys, but he is scared of admitting it openly.
this boys will openly INSULT gays,just to pretend like a straight.
THIS IS A GOOD ANALYSIS OF IDENTITY CRISIS.
1) SOUTH EAST IGBOS, PLS use SILENCE to counter these Igbo denials, like the example i gave, no matter how straight the gay boy pretend, He is still a gay!
2) Stop reminding them that they are Igbos, GOODNEWS IS THAT the Ijaws, urhobos,ogonis,isokos,itsekiris,kalabaris,binis,yorubas,fulanis,hausas etc will do the REMINDING JOB for you.

3) Dont argue with the igbo deniers, rather pity them, identity crisis is a Burden and many of them are SADIST
4) I HAVE NEVER seen an ikwerre billionaire nor an Ogba business guru nor an ekpeye international personality, NO SINGLE MAN FROM THESE Igbo denying communities own an oil block in Nigeria nor are part of billionaires list.
5) they are frustrated that the binis,ijaws,urhobos,ogonisetc still see and address them as Igbos.

So pity them, stop arguing with them, their delusion will expire one day.

I for one could Care less if the so called niger deltans refer to themselves as Germans, personally, if someone willingly decides to deny his obvious identity he has only himself to blame.

I'm really tired of the back and forth of this denial shebang and i don't really care what anyone calls themselves. If any Ikwerre man anyways sees himself as an Igbo man, Good, if 99.9% of Ikwerre people don't see themselves as Igbos, then very Good. The same thing applies to the so called Delta Igbos. I'm yet to meet real life Delta Igbo deniers. To be frank, I have come accross a lot of them, here in Port Harcourt. They will rather tell you that they are Igbos, but from Delta. A lot of them, rather, for reasons best known to them, do not buy into the idea of Biafra.

I met a guy from Ika sometimes last year for a business discussion. I heard him speak Igbo with someone on the phone and I asked him if he is Igbo and he said Yes. Shortly after, a friend came around and started discussing Igbo issues and he had issues with them. Immediately the guy denied being Igbo. I had to cancel my dealings with because he cannot be trusted. He seems to be double-faced.

It`s a pity all these are happening to some Igbos. They have some much to contend with in real life. Let the Bigger Igbos let be and allow them deal with their issues and also with the consequences.
