A photo of a military catholic priest ministering at a podium with a rifle strapped to his arms has generated a social media debate.


The photo was taken in at the St. James Catholic Cathedral military base in Yobe state at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency.

The priest is seen with his Ak47 rifle strapped to his shoulders as he carries out his ministry to his congregation.

Some Nigerians reacting to the photo have commended the clergy man for being alert in church.

Others however, faulted the priest for carrying a gun in church.

They said the priest lacked the courage to believe that God can fight his battles.

Another group suggested that carrying guns to places of worship could help reduce insecurity in the country.

Where do you stand on the issue, do you think carrying guns to places of worship is the solution to insecurity in the country?

Moreover, the killing of Christians seems like a piece of pizza and suya for the northerners... and so everybody needs a piece of pizza and suya so we will all taste it and be thankful to our leaders for feeding us well using the media as the pizza server.... and the fulanis as the chief chefz...and christians as the distributors...

Religion is our sole reason alongside ethnicity and a couple of other countless reasons that a common Nigerian will need to fathom in other to do away with all these barbaric killings and hatred for a particular region or so....

i've many suggestions that it'll need a memo...

Tribalism must be eradicated...

Religion must also be reduced... like in the case of having different islamic practice and also having different churches with different doctrines.... christians must have a guide and must have one doctrines same goes to muslims...

Names: The FG has to recreate a generation with a specific Nigeria's name.. a standard polynym that will make one have a unique identification as a Nigerian.. e.g one must not be identified as a fulani or hausa or yoruba or igbo, ijaw, ibibio, tiv, etc.... just like an english name... or a german name or a french name...

I have these few but many unmentioned suggestions to go by.... cant be typing in vain as well.... Not like this will change anything...

It's only the living that has hope of the future. For those saying that he should exercise faith, they can only say this from their comfort home but when faced with reality, they think otherwise .Some of them may even deny Jesus at gun point not to talk of this menace.Even the Bible says[b] watch and pray[/b]
